Game thread: Mens Hoops - Michigan at Indiana - 4:30 pm EST tip
The mens hoops team wraps up their regular season at Indiana, broadcast on CBS with an approximately 4:30 pm EST tip-off.
It’s as close to a “must win” as possible, with other action - both inside the B1G and other conference’s play - influencing which teams are in, almost in, on the bubble, last four in, first four out, etc…
Assembly Hall has a lot of history between the Maize & Blue and the Hoosiers.
Hoping for solid play and a win.
Go Blue!
Get the double bye and make the NCAA Tournament. Win the game!
with the Iowa and Maryland and Illinois losses today. If we win does that put us in a double bye/ top four for the BIG10?
Slow typing… I’ll take Thad’s post as a yes…
Not just a top 4 seed on the line, but I would think a win now guarantees a 2 seed? Only Northwestern could finish with the same record and I assume head-to-head sweep would give UM the tie breaker
We would be the 2 with a win. If we lose, we could still be a lot of things.
Unbelievable. We are on the wrong side of the NCAA bubble, yet we are a win away from a 2 seed in the BTT.
2 seed if win
5 seed with loss and Rutgers win
8 seed with loss and NW win
The pieces are set for making the tournament. Just have to finish Indiana.
They can’t keep the 2nd best team in the conference out of the tournament.
Go blue!
I like how we have been playing lately.
Just looked at the Big Ten standings. Insane how uniformly mediocre the league is this year. Yeah, one more win would be great for the good guys.
If every one beats everyone you could have 9 fantastic teams or 9 mediocre teams. The tourney will sort it out. The Big Ten has a history of losing about 80% of its coin flip games in the tourney. Perhaps this season will be different.
Paula Weston BT Hockey at uscho.com highlights of the season column has UM hockey team rise from last to second as #1 surprise.
Hoop team rising to #2 seed would be even more surprising.
It seems the best way to win BT basketball games is fall behind by 17-21 points and comeback to win in the last minute.
(Not recommending that as our strategy)
At some point if we think we really are a tournament-worthy team, we have to go out and win a big game. That point is right now.
Survive and advance.
I will feel comfortable that we are going to win the game up 15+ with under 30 seconds to go. Anything short of that and I will remain skeptical.
The Big Ten is the most competitive league in the country. Therefore, Even if Michigan loses today, the Big 10 Tournament offers the opportunity to win games to become NCAA eligible. However, based on today’s Big 10 trends, this game is more of a toss-up than a clear Indiana advantage.
Whatever today’s outcome, you have to give Juwan, the staff, and players a lot of credit for the improved play and development of the freshman. Just win the game. Go Blue.
Win and we're the 2 seed. Win and NW loss and we're all alone in 2nd. No way the 2nd place team in a conference that gets 8 plus bids doesn't make the tournament! Lfg! WIN THE GAME
Will still starting meh
Cheddar-mania looks like it is here to stay.
Play well, win the game.
WHY IS CHEDDAR STARTING
Cheddar got destroyed
Play some damn defense already ….
I really wish I knew what Howard saw in Cheddar.
I mean, he's just not good.
Bad early foul by Howard. Cheddars not a real threat
He's a real threat to Michigan's ability to make the tournament.
Already feelin that BPONEr
Cheddar turnover and he gives up a 3
Cheddddar. No
Cheddar is absolute Limburger.
We look gassed.
The fact that Juwan continues to start Tschetter makes me question his sanity.
Michigan starting slow once again. 3 points in 3 minutes. Haven't score at all since the opening possession. Meanwhile, Indiana is killing their defense.
Cheddar just struggles at this level to play D and also anytime he puts it in the floor.
Cheddar isn't sharp
College basketball is almost unwatchable with the ridiculously bad referees out there
Flop.
Cheddar is a f*cking loser
We have a ref show already with home cooking.
That was a total flop
Ha ha that should have been a call all on Indian
I still don't understand why Tschetter is starting.
Who should start? TWill was awful and Baker isn’t any better. Don’t even suggest Jace because he’s not a D1 player either. Reed is the only viable candidate but if he or Hunter get early fouls they’re depleted in the front court.
T Will has been pretty solid since he's been back and he's been better in every way compared to Tschetter. What actual reason is there to start Tchetter over T Will? Baker is also clearly better.
Time to sit Tschetter for a bit . He playing scared
I see we are going to get a nice balanced game from the officials today!
Holy hell what is this camera angle?
