Committed. Let’s work @UMichFootball @SeaholmFootball @TheDZone @AllenTrieu
He is the son of former Michigan WR Paul Jokisch and the brother of Paul Jokisch III, a DE/LB walk-on who was on the roster last spring (per TTB) but who is not listed on the 2022 roster on mgoblue.

Welcome John!
And I hope this is the last time I hear your name.👍

Glasgow brothers say hi!

damn....that's cold

Looks like somebody has a bad case of the stargazies. Me personally, I hope he balls out and becomes an All-American.

John was also a first team all state Division 2 defensive lineman at Seaholm.

Passing up West Point to walk on at Michigan? That is an interesting choice.
February 1st, 2023 at 10:25 PM ^
Much less likely that he gets shot at or grit it’s his humble blown up after graduating
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:18 AM ^
Huh ?
February 2nd, 2023 at 10:19 AM ^
Autocorrect was like "nah bro, you really shouldn't say what you're about to say. I'ma help you out"
February 2nd, 2023 at 8:33 AM ^
Well said.

Not if you don't want to spend the next several years in the military.
February 1st, 2023 at 11:31 PM ^
Understatement.
February 2nd, 2023 at 7:09 AM ^
I also find it interesting. While it is not uncommon to get accepted to a military academy and then change your mind, I wonder exactly why he went that far along in the process while knowing that a preferred walk-on is an option at (I would guess) lots of other universities.
February 2nd, 2023 at 8:15 AM ^
Is there some sort of process that a recruit must go through to get an offer from Army? Because "normal" colleges just hand out scholarship offers at will.
February 2nd, 2023 at 8:29 AM ^
Having gone to both myself, I think he made a brilliant choice.
February 2nd, 2023 at 10:35 AM ^
Seems like a no-brainer to me.
Go to Michigan or potentially go to war.

I remember Paul Jokisch very well. Besides being a tall and talented receiver, he also was one of the top recruits on the Michigan Basketball team during his time in Ann Arbor.

All the Jokisches!

I think one of my housemates dated him.

The prequel to the Fab 5: Jokish, Henderson, Tarpley, Wade & Rellford.
Not nearly as decorated, but the hype was for its time. Jeez I'm old.

Well, at least these guys helped Michigan win 2 Big Ten championships in 1985 and 1986. I was in grad school here at the time and it was a blast going to all the games in that 85-86 season.

I miss Gary Grant every time I watch this year's team play defense.
Those are forgotten UM teams. It might be partly because the Big Ten was lousy both years.

Richard Rellford was a really good player. Quite forgotten. That class put Frieder’s program on the map.

Where did Antoine Joubert fit in there?
February 2nd, 2023 at 12:32 PM ^
The Judge was the next year.

Paul Jokisch was my favorite M receiver when I was a kid
February 1st, 2023 at 10:49 PM ^
He was also a favorite receiver of his quarterback..... Jimmy Harbaugh 😃
February 2nd, 2023 at 8:50 AM ^
I can imagine Harbaugh warming up in practice - "Yeah, your dad ran the same route."
February 2nd, 2023 at 6:45 AM ^
Go Maples!
February 2nd, 2023 at 8:20 AM ^
Jim Harbaugh will offer any and all ex-Michigan players sons. The draw to come here as a non-scholarship walk-on is strong.

Coldwater - a PWO, especially if you're "in state", is a fine combination.
Wishing everyone on the roster well.
Go Blue!

What does "a scholarship offer from Army" even mean? Aren't all their students on scholarship?
February 2nd, 2023 at 9:36 AM ^
If you consider an 8 year commitment to serving your country a scholarship.
From what i understand, athletes that receive offers from the service academies have to meet to slightly lower acceptance standards than non athletes.

What on earth is going on at Birmingham Brother Rice when Jokisch's kid goes to Seaholm over Rice?
Not good for the pumpkinheads.

Dress code, rules, and girls.
