Brady Retiring

Again?
February 1st, 2023 at 9:17 AM ^
I believe this has all been a long con by Brady. First, Brady's wife threatens to leave him if he doesn't retire last year. He secretly wants "out" of the marriage, but he retires under the auspices of keeping her happy. Then he "changes his mind," which was done intentionally to really, REALLY piss her off. She divorces him, giving him the end result he wanted all along but allowing him to maintain his "good guy" image with his kids and the public. Fucking. Brilliant...

Did you see recent pics of her on the beach in Miami? Not so sure about brilliant!

Give me my pretty but "not Gisele" wife, who is sweet and kind, over a bombshell tiger chick any day.

Ditto.
Someone once told me there are two types of women in the world. Those you look at and those you marry.
I outkicked my punt coverage with mine. She's both. Grateful every day that she's in my life.

So your wife looks at this site?

today's winner ^^

You bet your ass I do

My wife has been to the big house.
But her knowledge of sports otherwise is Detroit should always beat Chicago because lions are better than bears.

I saw this in a men's room at a bar years ago - so true!!

Chris Rock.

There's another version of this that is more succinct.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:53 PM ^
Dear Brian and Seth, your beautiful website has been overrun by message board yahoos. The kind of sexist dogs who like to loudly proclaim it. The days of GBCWs are long past us, but as someone who loved this place in its early days--when bums like this would have been run out of here and the discourse was a little less. . . course. . . I just want to say that I assume that you know what you're doing. I assume there are more hits in the current crowd than in the thoughtful one, whether any woman would ever feel comfortable here, and you've weighed the pros and cons. I won't be foolish enough to forswear this place; there's too much of value here. But the days when I passionately proclaimed my love for mgoblog. . . behind me. Cyan-ara.

so looks matter more.... got it.

No, she actually seems like a nice, grounded person and a good mother too.
February 1st, 2023 at 10:07 AM ^
UM Indy, do we really think Tom is going to have a difficult time finding a fetching young lady with whom to spend some time?
February 1st, 2023 at 10:28 AM ^
I've never liked her looks. Heck, she's not even related to me.
February 1st, 2023 at 3:26 PM ^
Did you see the recent pics of his new girlfriend? I think he's doing fine.
February 1st, 2023 at 5:10 PM ^
Is that his GF?
I though Veronika Rajek was his stalker.

That man and that plan are both the GOAT

What is "Sports Grid?"
February 1st, 2023 at 8:22 AM ^
The greatest of all time! It's been fun. Disappointed though because I think he could have won it all again with the 49ers next year.
February 1st, 2023 at 8:56 AM ^
Would it be weird to unretire twice? I guess it would, but I agree with you - I think he could've slotted in perfectly with San Fran.
One thing I did notice though this year in contrast to other years (Brady was never a big contact guy anyway...) is that he really, really went out of his way not to get hit. Hey, I get it - he's old and is trying to preserve his body but you could tell this year he put in the extra effort to avoid contact. Not sure how long you can continue to do that and have that mentality and be really successful.

Michael Jordan got to do it, why not Tom?
February 1st, 2023 at 9:05 AM ^
My thoughts exactly. The difference being I think Tom could go to a team with a chance to win rather than a team he’s looking to get equity in and become an owner of later.
February 1st, 2023 at 10:42 AM ^
Sugar Ray Leonard wouldn't find this weird at all.
February 1st, 2023 at 10:22 AM ^
And how fascinating it would have been to see him working with Brian Griese as a quarterback coach.
February 1st, 2023 at 12:12 PM ^
Rodgers may be going “home” to SF to win it all again. I hope he doesn’t, though.
February 1st, 2023 at 8:22 AM ^
Thanks for the memories. The first SB after 9/11 was my favorite.
February 1st, 2023 at 8:23 AM ^
He didnt just rewrite records. He didnt just destroy the ceiling on expectations. He didnt just fill UM fans with pride and joy.
He effing flipped the meaning of a WORD. “Goat” used to mean a player who gets the blame for screwing something up to cause a loss. (Think: Bill Buckner, keeping it with a Boston theme). And now Goat means greatest champion ever. Who has done THAT?
February 1st, 2023 at 8:37 AM ^
I think you’re mixing that (first usage of term GOAT) up with Muhammad Ali. By the way, GOAT is an acronym that means Greatest Of All Time, and the word “goat” is still an abbreviation of scapegoat. Just saying.
February 1st, 2023 at 9:03 AM ^
Does superstringer == Dave Brandon?
February 1st, 2023 at 12:03 PM ^
the word “goat” is still an abbreviation of scapegoat.
That usage is endangered, if not extinct at this point. Now, if you say "He was the goat" it's nearly always going to be interpreted the positive way.
February 1st, 2023 at 1:05 PM ^
Username checks out.
I always thought the “goating” of the acronym really took off with this basketball doc.
February 1st, 2023 at 9:00 AM ^
Uhhhh GOAT was a thing before Brady.
Brady just made expectations for the QB position surreal. Mahomes has a lot of ground to make up.
February 1st, 2023 at 9:44 AM ^
LL had an album titled GOAT before Brady was in the league.
February 1st, 2023 at 8:24 AM ^
Brady Quinn?
February 1st, 2023 at 8:24 AM ^
i'm just sorry this is going to bump chiti's "the prevailing wisdom is wrong" post down the list.
February 1st, 2023 at 8:43 AM ^
I saw this post first, assumed the other post must be bad, checked the amount negs OP got, then returned here to talk about the GOAT.
February 1st, 2023 at 8:52 AM ^
I guess the mods weren't in the mood for my humor this morning...
February 1st, 2023 at 8:26 AM ^
I like the video - the first thing he tells us is that he is retiring and then he goes into the mumbo jumbo.
I think a tour of duty with the 49ers would have done him a disservice.
February 1st, 2023 at 8:26 AM ^
Thanks for the memories Tom! Now go and be a goat dad, your kids and our world both need that
February 1st, 2023 at 8:27 AM ^
Feel like I've heard this before...
February 1st, 2023 at 8:38 AM ^
If you watch his retirement video this time he sounds different
He referenced his prior retirement and said this time it's for good
I know he reneged on his retirement last time but with all the drama he went through plus regression (who knows whether that was Leftwich or what) he wasn't coming back IMO
February 1st, 2023 at 11:30 AM ^
A lot of the regression was due to Tampa having the worst o-line in the league.
February 1st, 2023 at 11:47 AM ^
Nah. His arm strength wasn’t there and his accuracy has faded
