searchbits: who should be our next AD?
It seems all too apparent that Warde is not just on thin ice, but may be falling through it as we speak.
Who are some of the top ADs in the country who have both a keen sense of running an athletic department and the chops to navigate the wild world of NIL?
in this case….WWSD (What Would Santa Do)?

This has progressed quickly….
January 16th, 2023 at 7:00 PM ^
Mike Barrett.

Grant newsome?
January 16th, 2023 at 7:05 PM ^
Justin Fegan
January 16th, 2023 at 7:15 PM ^
Donald Fegan's son?
January 16th, 2023 at 8:38 PM ^
Not sure… I emailed Walter Becker to get the correct spelling.

That couldn't have been easy.

GN for Associate AD. It's Barrett or bust for AD. He can do it in his spare time, while still playing LB.
January 16th, 2023 at 10:55 PM ^
I thought we all decided it should be MGrowOld.
January 16th, 2023 at 7:21 PM ^
Barrett is already shadow AD. He and Santa put this deal together. Still, they need a face to play the figure head role
January 16th, 2023 at 8:20 PM ^
Santa to AD, Barrett to President.
January 16th, 2023 at 7:01 PM ^
Honestly unless there's some clarification from the University I would assume he's also looking at exit strategies. He appears to have been publicly gone around and neutered....not a great day at the office as of right now for warde.
January 16th, 2023 at 7:48 PM ^
Has to be gone. If you take on the king you better take him out or you lose your head. This has been the rule for centuries.
Had a great gig (best seats at any Michigan game in any sport anywhere-for free!) and he misread the dynamics of the situation. Bye bye.

And you gotta believe that Ono had the support of the Regents before he stuck his head in this bees nest.
January 16th, 2023 at 10:41 PM ^
After Ono first tweeted last week that he was getting involved, didn't one of the regents post a supportive tweet?

Warde will be just fine - Im sure a certain billionaire booster has a home for him...

I’m available. I managed my kids t-ball team 18 years ago. I also played EA Sports NCAA football.
January 16th, 2023 at 7:29 PM ^
Congratulations. This puts you in the 95 percentile of being AD material-on this board.
January 16th, 2023 at 7:45 PM ^
Well, candidate, let's say you have a great basketball coach and a great football coach. Do you ...
A. Pay them, keep them happy, and do everything you can do within the rules to help them with the changing landscape of NCAA athletics.
or
B. Be a perpetual hindrance and push said coaches to the professional leagues after reaching their breaking point.

Impressive resume at first glance, but I believe your MGoComment history has some critical comments about NIL that are likely disqualifying.
January 16th, 2023 at 7:02 PM ^
Jack Harbaugh ….
January 16th, 2023 at 7:06 PM ^
Marshawn Lynch and I’m not joking.
January 16th, 2023 at 7:10 PM ^
From Lynch's wiki page.
Lynch saw the indoor football team as a way to keep professional football in Oakland after the departure of the Raiders for Las Vegas.
Maybe Santa was foreshadowing - Oakland really is in play.

If t-shirts with this acronym aren't on sale on this blog within the week, somebody is missing out on a great NIL opportunity
January 16th, 2023 at 7:08 PM ^
I agree. The former Michigan basketball coach would be a great hire as our next AD.
LINK.
And he could bring Nyckoles Harbor with him!
January 16th, 2023 at 8:07 PM ^
Or Beilein
January 16th, 2023 at 8:55 PM ^
Fine, but I'm definitely bringing Yaklich to keep an eye on all you shady MF'ers.
January 16th, 2023 at 9:39 PM ^
They should definitely kick the tires on that.
January 17th, 2023 at 7:37 AM ^
No Way - Beilein would be a step backwards. He wouldnt be able to manage NIL and todays college sports.
Michigans next AD needs to be progressive and they need to both embrace todays college sports, and be innovators.
January 17th, 2023 at 8:12 AM ^
Not to mention the very simple fact that Beilein has zero experience whatsoever in managing a business. And he's, what, 70? He wouldn't want to do it, anyway...
January 17th, 2023 at 2:22 PM ^
Beilein could be the assistant AD
January 16th, 2023 at 7:10 PM ^
Ask JUB. He's right half the time.
January 16th, 2023 at 7:11 PM ^
Charles Woodson would be my choice.
January 16th, 2023 at 7:16 PM ^
This isn’t half bad honestly
January 16th, 2023 at 9:20 PM ^
How? How, outside of love for Woodson, is that not half bad? What experience and skill would CW bring to the AD position?
January 16th, 2023 at 9:55 PM ^
Business owner, plugged into donor relations, etc
January 18th, 2023 at 8:25 AM ^
You just described probably more than a handful of MGoBlog posters.
There is much much more to it than that.

People criticize the Westbrook trade and rightly so, but I low-key think him letting Caruso walk (for THT who we traded anyways) was an even worse move
