Heisman - Did Championship weekend impact voting?
Any thoughts on the Heisman?
A week ago, it seemed like Caleb Williams at USC won the Heisman after their game against ND. Of course, that was before an egg was laid against Utah.
Corum did not play. The Buckeyes and Bama were spectators on Saturday. Duggan and TCU came up short. Bennett and Georgia were solid in a win over LSU - but, it doesn’t seem like he was in much consideration.
Who will, or should, win the Heisman? Your thoughts?

Rod Moore or Michael Barrett!
December 5th, 2022 at 12:49 PM ^
Michael Barrett should win four heismans
December 5th, 2022 at 2:01 PM ^
In the post game press conference against Ohio State, Harbaugh looked at Barrett and Sainristil saying they both should come back next year. Mikey made his announcement, so Barrett you are next on the Mike. If Jenkins returns, our defense is going to improve even more next year.

I have never cared less about the Heisman than I do right now. 🤷
December 5th, 2022 at 11:52 AM ^
Way too QB focused because of big stats, too many voters in general and uneducated (don’t watch enough games) in particular, heavily influenced by media campaigns run by schools. I wouldn’t say it’s “meaningless” but… pretty close?
December 5th, 2022 at 11:56 AM ^
Unless Corum wins.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:27 PM ^
I love when one of our guys gets a chance to be a finalist and get due recognition, but other than that I'm way way over the Heisman. It's College Football For Dummies
December 5th, 2022 at 11:59 AM ^
Between injuries and guys choking down the stretch, I don't feel strongly on giving anyone the Heisman
December 5th, 2022 at 12:04 PM ^
Yeah, can we vote we keep the Heisman in the box for 2022?
December 5th, 2022 at 12:51 PM ^
Yeah, we can give 2 next year!
December 5th, 2022 at 12:44 PM ^
Let's bank it for a year when there are two players head and shoulders above the rest of the field and then give out two then. <ducks>
December 5th, 2022 at 11:42 AM ^
Bryce Young. Because Alabama fans are very depressed right now, and they need a pick-me-up. Plus, his Dr. Pepper ads are... **Chef's Kiss**
December 5th, 2022 at 11:47 AM ^
When Drake Maye was getting odds on a NYC invite, I lost interest.
December 5th, 2022 at 11:47 AM ^
It'll be Caleb Williams. He didn't lay an egg against Utah. He got injured on a first-half scoring run and absolutely lost his mobility after that. All in all you can't say he had a good game, obviously, but it's not like he was "exposed" as an average player or anything.
He deserves it before that game, and he deserves it now. And if I were advising a NFL team that needed a quarterback, I'd encourage them to leap at him at the first opportunity. He's a stud.
December 5th, 2022 at 11:50 AM ^
100% agree.
December 5th, 2022 at 11:53 AM ^
Except he is a true Soph so NFL teams can leap all the want, he has another year of college football before he can be drafted.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:10 PM ^
Agree about Caleb Williams winning it. i read a couple of days ago that over 60% of the votes were already in and he was the heavy favorite going into the weekend. No one really impressed enough this weekend to challenge Williams so I have to believe he's the winner in a year where there really wasn't a clear-cut choice
December 5th, 2022 at 12:28 PM ^
Caleb Williams should have run off the sideline and stopped the Utah ball carriers when the USC defenders didn't bother to make a tackle
December 5th, 2022 at 12:59 PM ^
I agree. Caleb Williams was absolutely unstoppable before the injury near the end of the 1st quarter. After that he did struggle but he was playing on one leg and showed a lot of heart and toughness.

I think the quiet answer is Iowa's punter. Whoever that is.
December 5th, 2022 at 11:54 AM ^
Doesn't matter who it is. I now want "Iowa Punter" to be the name on the trophy.
December 5th, 2022 at 11:50 AM ^
I would vote for Jake Moody
December 5th, 2022 at 11:50 AM ^
Oluwatimi for Heisman
December 5th, 2022 at 12:46 PM ^
I checked the exchange rate and two Joe Moore trophies automatically convert into one Heisman. Just trust me on that.
December 5th, 2022 at 11:50 AM ^
I think Williams still wins. He threw for 3 TD and 350+ yards with a bad finger on Friday night. Losing Corum really hurt those last 3 games but could you imagine if Edwards was getting this many carries early in the season? Michigan was lucky to have Edwards as a "backup".
December 5th, 2022 at 12:05 PM ^
Bad finger and an apparent hammy pull. He was clearly limping.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:08 PM ^
This is weird. Why not imagine if Corum had stayed healthy for the last few weeks? If so, he wins the award.
And we should get to see Edwards get a full workload next year, so we don't have to wonder for very long.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:57 PM ^
I really like Corum, but I don't think he would have won the Heismann even if he had stayed healthy -- unless he ran for like 200+ yards with 2 touchdowns in each game (and each game was close).
Michigan fans were slightly deluded about his chances, I think. Corum was third in the Big Ten in rushing through 11 games (that is, even if you don't count the Ohio State game) and there were four Big Ten rushers with over 100 attempts who ran for more per attempt than he did (including Donovan Edwards, by the way -- and yes, his stats were heavily influenced by the Ohio State and Purdue games, but why should be be punished for being fantastic in those games?)).
Again, I understand counter-arguments to those factors, but ... that's just in the Big Ten! And several of those other running backs didn't have the benefit of our offensive line.
Corum is awesome, and he may well be the best running back in the Big Ten. Hell, he may well be the best running back in the country. But he didn't seem ... transformative, to me. And ... look at how our running game (and team) coped when he went down. Meanwhile, look at what happened to USC with an injured Caleb Williams.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:46 PM ^
Anyone know which finger it was? Was it the F U C or K finger? Or was it the U T A or H finger?
December 5th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
The fart finger.
December 5th, 2022 at 11:51 AM ^
Should win Duggan. Will win Williams. To many voters vote early.
December 5th, 2022 at 1:16 PM ^
I think we'll see an invite list of:
* Williams (likely winner, nothing that hurt his chances outside of a team loss this weekend)
* Duggan
* Stroud
* Young

"It should be Jacoby Wyndmon, without a doubt. He was the best defensive player in the country before he was unfairly shut down for the last four games of the year by the Michigan Tunnel, which should have been indicted for bullying. "

i found it a little odd that Bennett wasn't in consideration, even if he was 4th or 5th in line, after the last two weekends.... he could be the dark horse.
Duggan might have lost, but if he didn't put on a Heisman worthy effort in that game, I don't know who did.... and prior to that game, I think he had the second best odds to win it.
December 5th, 2022 at 11:54 AM ^
Nick Saban thinks it should be Bryce Young because all of his incompletions this season were close to being catches. In addition, he would be favored to star in more Dr. Pepper commercials than the other hopefuls. He will share his full opinion during a nationally televised interview that pre-empts Monday Night Football. It will be sponsored by Kleenex tissue.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:37 PM ^
LOL!!!
December 5th, 2022 at 11:57 AM ^
I'm surprised that Bennett seems to be getting zero attention.
I know he doesn't have the gaudy stats of the QBs who play in more pass-oriented offenses, but I would have thought that a QB who's led Georgia to a 27-1 record over the past two seasons, with one national championship already in the bag and a good bet for another would be getting at least enough buzz to make it to the ceremony.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:32 PM ^
he should definitely be considered for the gino torretta award
December 5th, 2022 at 11:58 AM ^
When was the last year like this where it feels like there is no truly deserving Heisman? Between injuries and players choking down the stretch, it feels like everyone is like "well, I guess we give it to this guy?"
December 5th, 2022 at 12:10 PM ^
I would say Mark Ingram (2009) and Derrick Henry (2015).
December 5th, 2022 at 12:01 PM ^
Should win: Duggan or Corum (both made their teams significantly better and Duggan started as the back-up)
Will win: Probably Williams (I don't like system QBs winning, but he is a dual threat and takes lots of hits)
Who should be getting more pub: Rising (despite the losses he made that O go), still Hooker (he made UT what they were this year), Marvin Jr (despite being largely shut down in his most recent game)
December 5th, 2022 at 12:59 PM ^
I love me some Corum, but how much better did he make Michigan? We seemed to cope just fine without him these past two games. That's a credit to our system, of course -- and a small sample size -- but I don't see any evidence that we depended on him for our success this year to the extent USC depended on Caleb Williams or Utah depended on Rising.
December 5th, 2022 at 4:57 PM ^
Edwards didn't start seeing the holes and showing patience while blocks set up in front him until mid-season, by which time Blake was a clear workhorse. What he was doing pushing piles and breaking ankles are both lightning and thunder in one back. He did some very special things and I'd argue they very much depended on him until JJ and the Don became the guys they were in Cbus.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:02 PM ^
Aidan was one year too early.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:08 PM ^
Yeah, he would be lock this year. Too bad.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:08 PM ^
Michigan offensive line should win it.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:08 PM ^
My vote is for Michigan RB Corwards. I mean, look at those numbers.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:13 PM ^
Yeah, just look at the numbers for Corwards. Does he have any eligibility left?
December 5th, 2022 at 12:24 PM ^
The only player that has an NCAA exemption, which allows him to wear two different jersey numbers in the same game.
December 5th, 2022 at 12:49 PM ^
Blake Corum at least has one good knee. Didn't Jason White win the trophy with no good knees?
