More bad news for Ohio State: OSU President Kristina Johnson reportedly resigning over some sort of unpleasantness
The report in the Columbus Dispatch is paywalled, but Eleven Warriors quotes the article as saying that Johnson is resigning “following an investigation conducted by an outside firm into concerns about her that were raised by staff.” Her resignation comes at the request of OSU's Board of Trustees, so this seems like a pretty serious situation.
Johnson was very involved in athletics and served as the B1G's representative on the CFP Board of Managers, so this also has some implications for athletics and for the B1G.

So we beat Ohio soooo bad that their president had to quit...dang, we beat them really hard. But as we all know Day had to fire someone from his staff.

Our Johnsons >>> their Johnson
November 28th, 2022 at 6:15 PM ^
Is that what got them in trouble in the first place?
November 28th, 2022 at 5:49 PM ^
I want to guess it’s over an affair she’s having with Ryan Day, but we know he’s too “soft” for that
November 28th, 2022 at 9:20 PM ^
She's been using Zach Smiths left over goodie box on Day.

Did Tressel fire her?
November 28th, 2022 at 6:00 PM ^
Eleven Warriors folk want Tress as her replacement!

Situations like these. Ohio State handles them exceptionally well. They will find a better version of Kristina Johnson with an athletic focus. This story is a “page 4” in the Lantern. Nothing will come of this.

She refused to consider bringing Urban back.

I won't point fingers after the Schlissel thing. I don't hold ill will towards their academics. I do hope their athletic teams lose every game they ever play.
November 28th, 2022 at 6:15 PM ^
Yeah, Schlissel got a crush on someone he worked with and then they started dating. Such a bad look for our university.
November 28th, 2022 at 8:08 PM ^
It was also a bad look for Schlissel’s wife and kids.
November 28th, 2022 at 5:57 PM ^
Yeah....I'm holding back any jokes until it's clear what the issue is here. Hoping it's something dumb and mockable, not tragic or hurtful.
November 28th, 2022 at 5:58 PM ^
Rumor has it that it’s because she has zero wins against Michigan in the 3 years since she was hired.

That Ohio State, always wanting to be better than Michigan, but I never thought they'd try to out-slimeball Mark Schlissel.
November 28th, 2022 at 6:20 PM ^
Good thing university administrators spent hours raking through his emails to uncover all the lukewarm "inappropriateness." We should never tolerate anything inappropriate and should surveil everyone to root it out.
November 28th, 2022 at 6:32 PM ^
Is this a...defense?
If all you're saying is Schlissel isn't Harvey Weinstein, I agree, but using work resources to conduct an affair with an employee in your chain of authority is normally a firing offense.
November 28th, 2022 at 6:39 PM ^
It's the same way at most offices. A supervisor can not date a subordinate due to the differences in power that each have. Additionally, it interferes with their work. Also, Schlissel was married so that brings the moral issues of the situation outside of whether he should have been fired for it.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:26 PM ^
All true, but - and this isn't a condemnation of the Regents here since Schiss deserved everything he got - you gotta figure that everyone hating his guts made it a lot more appealing for them to pursue the inquiry

Uncle Jethro has entered the chat.

I'm going to guess a change.org petition with less than 100 signatories was not the final straw.
November 28th, 2022 at 6:39 PM ^
I seriously doubt that petition has anything to do with the resignation unless there was really and truly a cover-up of a murder.
November 28th, 2022 at 7:48 PM ^
That's from two years ago and didn't gain any traction, so not likely relevant.
November 28th, 2022 at 6:49 PM ^
Sparty would have covered it up and given her a raise.
At least the right thing appears to be happening, without having all the information and assuming the allegations against her are true... People in all places do bad things; the only thing we can control is how we handle it when things come up.
November 28th, 2022 at 7:12 PM ^
And then blamed the tunnel at the big house for causing the issue.

Working in higher education can be a real shit show. Just because people have more education doesn’t mean they can’t soil the chair in the office.
November 28th, 2022 at 7:17 PM ^
only thing that beats a Friday PM news dump anywhere is a Monday AM after OSU-M game in Columbus
November 28th, 2022 at 8:09 PM ^
Concerning our own former president was having an affair of his own, I’m not going to throw stones at a glass house.
November 28th, 2022 at 8:40 PM ^
So apparently her staff had a problem with her.
November 28th, 2022 at 9:35 PM ^
Given her Wiki entry, there are all kinds of things she may have been involved in that aren't on the up-and-up:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kristina_M._Johnson
Maybe there is some kind of Theranos-type situation coming to light in Columbus?
November 29th, 2022 at 9:47 AM ^
This could any number of things: (1) illicit relationship, (2) draconian and abusive management style, (3) financial improprieties (abusing spending accounts for personal enjoyment), and so on.
Given that it's a public school, the key findings will be published.
Clearly, the TIMING was not a fluke (of course, they waited until after THE GAME).
I still think the last guy at MSU got forced out over politics and the firing of the business dean. Not a truly fireable offense, but Boards of Regents seem to have become as politically charged as the rest of society.
Either way, Santa all the way!
