Fire Matt Weiss and give a very stern side eye to Bellamy for his WR coaching.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
You were calling for Gattis. Clearly we should listen to you. Even better hire TheCube as our OC.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:42 PM ^
Gattis the WR coach. There’s an obvious drop off.
Shit, bring back Jedd Fisch while you’re at it. His stint here was the only time we saw QB progression instead of regression.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:44 PM ^
They are the same WRs that were coached by Gattis. Did Josh take their hands when he left?
November 19th, 2022 at 3:46 PM ^
It’s almost as if they don’t practice passing enough during live action, which brings back the worries people had initially about this offense being too lopsided.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:55 PM ^
I would understand this if they had poor route running but our biggest WR problem is they can’t catch. I do agree we do need more live action passing but for JJs sake. He needs more touch.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:16 PM ^
He missed some very short wide-open throws today by a wide margin. He needs to be lights out next week to win that game. I expected a much faster progression week to week and I'm not seeing it. He clearly has the tools, but it just hasn't fully clicked yet.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:33 PM ^
JJ doesn’t have the touch on his short throws. He throws a fastball when he only needs a change up. Very similar to Shane Morris. The tools are there just need more refining. As for next week he is going to have to hit some throws but the game plan won’t be revolved around him. Need plays like Cade made last year. His mid/deep balls allowed for a lot of what H2 did last year.
November 19th, 2022 at 9:00 PM ^
Accuracy and touch are tools. Not sure he has either of those.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:58 PM ^
Old, boring narrative
November 19th, 2022 at 3:52 PM ^
Why are you still here? You constantly bitch and moan and do not like the team. You have been unhappy for years. Just leave. You won’t be missed.
November 19th, 2022 at 6:51 PM ^
How is Miami doing?
November 19th, 2022 at 7:18 PM ^
The Dolphins are doing awesome!
November 19th, 2022 at 3:48 PM ^
This is absurd.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
Getting late early for Andrel Anthony. Guy is getting chances- not easy ones- but hasn't come through on anything.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:00 PM ^
Yeah, he's been disappointing this year, but last year's MSU game demonstrates he has certainly come through on some things.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:11 PM ^
But honestly, since that game, what has he done?
People here have been demanding more targets for him . . . I don't know what they're seeing.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:15 PM ^
Andrel Anthony had 6 catches for 155 yards at a 25 yard average in 2021 against MSU alone, which is the most a Michigan WR has had ….. in …. Idk.
This year he has 7 catches for 80 yards total.
I guess the MSU game was a fluke?
November 19th, 2022 at 5:09 PM ^
"Aberration" feels like a better word than "fluke," but who knows.
November 20th, 2022 at 8:36 AM ^
pretty much every game since has demonstrated that may have been an outlier, which suuuuucks to say because that was quite the coming out party
November 19th, 2022 at 5:03 PM ^
Have to say Anthony is definitely answering the question that MGoBloggers have asked all year, that being "why don't we just huck it deep to Anthony more often and let him make a play?"
November 19th, 2022 at 6:53 PM ^
Need to go back to earning the “1” that was not a hard catch to make. For all of JJ’s faults, that throw was a dime!
November 19th, 2022 at 3:52 PM ^
Down a ton of contributors, the players were put in position to win plenty of times.
Corum fumble, Anthony failing again to make a play, Gash drop, McCarthy happy feet and poor decision-making, etc.
Need at least a healthy Edwards next week.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:09 PM ^
I expect a lot of guys back in the lineup next week. This was a game Michigan could have lost and still achieved its goals. Nevertheless, JJ was awful today. Way too many individuals not making plays when they there were there to make. Great catch by Wilson to move the chains and good for you Gash for converting that huge 4th down after a huge drop.
If they burned another down on a run play to a fifth string RB, I was going to throw my phone thru my tv. WTF is going on with the playcalling? Way too conservative until you decide to throw a pass on 3rd and 5 with no timeouts with the best kicker in America. Y'all need to clean this shit up this week.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:07 PM ^
"If they burned another down on a run play to a fifth string RB, I was going to throw my phone thru my tv. WTF is going on with the playcalling?"
This, all day. It was absurd to run that play on second down, f-ing criminal in fact. Then the 3rd down pass was pointless and could have been picked.
November 20th, 2022 at 1:45 PM ^
F'ing criminal? Go to bed
November 19th, 2022 at 5:34 PM ^
Isn't Gash our 4th string? Did I miss someone between him and Corum/Edwards/Stokes?
November 19th, 2022 at 5:44 PM ^
Tavierre Dunlap?
November 19th, 2022 at 7:18 PM ^
Has Dunlap played this year?
November 19th, 2022 at 8:38 PM ^
He got stoned on the last drive on a critical third down
November 20th, 2022 at 7:18 AM ^
“JJ was awful today”? Goodness. Did he throw any interceptions? In several key 4th down moments he was absolutely fearless. He is undefeated as a starter. Can he improve? Of course. Will he? That’s why we watch. With all due respect, I think your assessment is absurd.
November 20th, 2022 at 10:08 AM ^
He was pretty bad. The fourth down throw to Gash was obviously huge and won the game, but overall, J.J. played pretty bad
November 20th, 2022 at 10:22 AM ^
This fanbase is hilarious, everyone wants the young kid because he has more upside, but then everyone vents their spleens cause the 19 year old with more upside is still a 19 year old. Add to the fact he has won every game and hasn’t thrown many picks. Just a lot of ninnies here
November 19th, 2022 at 5:27 PM ^
Some of this should fall on coaching too. The play calling, at times, was horrendous.
November 20th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
I'm sure we'd be better off we you making the play calls. LOL
November 19th, 2022 at 3:55 PM ^
Those WR’s that can’t catch a ball? Sounds good.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:59 PM ^
Who recruited them? Can’t get quality WRs to come to Michigan when you don’t pass enough.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:29 PM ^
It's also hard to pass enough when you don't have quality receivers. Catch-22
November 19th, 2022 at 10:52 PM ^
Preseason, deepest most talented group of WRs we've ever had. Now, we cant recruit WRs. Which is it?
November 20th, 2022 at 12:30 AM ^
The most productive receiver is a 2 star recruit.
The highest rated WR is still 18 years old.
They’re a deep group. Just not that talented it seems. Or well coached for that matter.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:04 PM ^
I realize this is an emotional take but it is just a bad take. Once Corum went out of the game, our offense changed. I am not about to say there isn’t somE criticism to give but it is pretty tough to run an offense when you 1st, 2nd and 3rd string running backs are out. One thing I would say for sure is get the ball to our playmakers once Corum goes out. Surely we have plays that can gain positive yards instead of giving the ball to Gash on first down. Gash did make one of the plays of the game with his 4th down catch. I am just really happy we pulled out the W and better yet Moody makes the game winner in his last game at the Big House. One game left to win the B1G 10. Go Blue!
November 19th, 2022 at 5:36 PM ^
In the stadium at least it seemed like Stokes was in, but Gash eclipsed him. Did he get hurt also?
November 19th, 2022 at 10:26 PM ^
Seemed like Gash was the only RB with run or pass play options. Stokes was probably 90% running plays and Dunlap was opposite, basically a pass when he was in.
November 19th, 2022 at 10:54 PM ^
My guess is Dunlap is the better pass blocker
November 19th, 2022 at 4:08 PM ^
You trolling? Or just being silly bro? Execution was the problem with the WRs. Weiss ain't the only culprit with respect to play calling. Lazy play calling on second and long/lack of aggression was what I saw as the most significant issue throughout.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:20 PM ^
This is the thing I just don’t get. Last year JJ could throw a bomb off his back foot with his eyes closed on the money. Yes, he got injured but he’s been on the field for months now. All our QBs since Rudock have regressed. Why?
November 20th, 2022 at 7:25 AM ^
“All our QBs since Rudock have regressed”? Gracious. Cade beat OSU, slaughtered Iowa in the Big Ten Championship game, and got us to the playoff. JJ is undefeated as a starter. We are 11-0. Again, no interceptions today. Perfect? No. But the idea of all QBs regressing is ridiculous, in my humble opinion.
November 20th, 2022 at 8:30 AM ^
So you use wins due to great defense, a strong running game, and a weak schedule to judge QB play? The best pass in all of the games you mention above was thrown by a RB (Edwards vs Iowa). Can you honestly say that you think JJ is playing better now than he was earlier in the season?
