Resurrection Day. What past MgoContent would you like to see brought back to life?
With Brian now steadily increasing he's written contributions to the site (yay!) and Alex emerging as a more than capable replacement to Ace (yay!) it got me thinking of weekly site features that are now gone, but not forgotten. One's that I miss and would love to see brought back to their former glory if time and inclination from the MgoWriting team exists. My top three are as follows:
This Week In Schadenfreude: Brian
Before there was Opponent Watch, This Week In Schadenfreude existed as the site's funniest weekly feature. Many have tried to copy, all have failed. When it came to mocking other team's fan bases insane internet comments Brian had no equal. This was actually a national article featured on EDSBS (Everyday should be Saturday), a mostly SEC blog that shut down in 2019 but was linked here weekly.
Blogpoll: Brian
These were so much fun. Brian would post his weekly top 25 with a few comments on the how & why he made the choices he did then had the board crowd-source his poll. We were able to offer our opinions and collectively we created an MgoTop25 poll weekly.
Best of the Board: Seth
Every Friday morning Seth would post the best Diaries & Board Posts for the week. For those of us making active comments/thread creation it was always a challenge to see if your pithy comment or especially insightful observation made the cut, so to speak, and was deemed by Seth to be one of the week's best.

This Month in MGoBlog History
It was a good opportunity for those of us who haven't been here from the early days to experience some of the great (or not so great) moments and writing of the past.
September 6th, 2022 at 4:10 PM ^
100% agree that was really cool but wasnt that one created/posted by one of us, not the MgoStaff?
Oh and I should note that Brian wasnt just good at mocking other team's fan bases when melt-down's occurred - we are also frequent targets of his wrath after posting stupid comments here and elsewhere. But mostly here.

Uhhhhhh....I don't know. In order for this to happen, and given where he left off, wouldn't that mean we'd have to go back to September of 2008? Otherwise known as the beginning of RichRod? That season set a school record for losses and a TON of great winning streaks went up in smoke. Is anyone really going to want to relive that?
September 6th, 2022 at 7:49 PM ^
I joined in November 2008. We were all so blindly optimistic then, and RichRod was the shiny object we all thought would carry us to some brave new world of fast little guy football. Oh well.

I can think of only one thing

But we know not if it will ever return

yes

Comments, commence

Now that's a whole different thread. Which posters are gone, but not forgotten, that you'd like to see return.
FWIW I have the knowledge of a few I miss as well.
September 6th, 2022 at 4:26 PM ^
Yeah like RollDamnTide and Wolverine in A Bag.
September 6th, 2022 at 4:41 PM ^
I still remember exactly where I was when that RDT/WIAB scheme was outed.
September 6th, 2022 at 7:40 PM ^
I'm beginning to wonder if WIAB wasn't THE KNOWLEDGE, too.
September 6th, 2022 at 4:45 PM ^
THE KNOWLEDGE is not gone. THE KNOWLEDGE will always be with us.
September 6th, 2022 at 4:53 PM ^
Regardless, we need THE KNOWLEDGE back to write up some really good wisdom
September 6th, 2022 at 5:03 PM ^
It could be a Where Are They Now and feature one former poster each week.

I miss draftageddon

That makes one of you
September 6th, 2022 at 4:24 PM ^
Kindly leave.
September 6th, 2022 at 8:00 PM ^
You forgot the "/s", as it was not apparent.
September 6th, 2022 at 4:17 PM ^
Draftageddon. I actually enjoyed it, but I can take it or leave it. But, the complaints from others were so over-the-top funny, I'd bring it back just to read others whinge.
September 6th, 2022 at 5:27 PM ^
The hate made no sense. It was great content.
September 6th, 2022 at 4:18 PM ^
TWIS (This Week in Schadenfreude) was awesome. Don't remember when that one actually died, but here is a re-creation of what that would have looked like during the RichRod\Hoke years...
September 6th, 2022 at 4:19 PM ^
This Week in Schadenfreude was one of the best things out there. Not really an MGoBlog thing, but a Brian Cook thing. I personally think Brian should spend more of his time wading through other teams' message boards misery and writing articles about it.

Anything from this website will do:

Peanut Butter Jelly Time!!. .... wish I had bought one of those shirts

I started reading the site in summer 2010. We were so young and innocent then.

I just want Brian to post something 5 to 7 times a week
September 6th, 2022 at 4:29 PM ^
He's splitting UFRs with Seth this year which is pretty great. We're going to see maybe even higher quality than usual.
September 6th, 2022 at 4:34 PM ^
How are they going to split them? Will one do the offense every week, while the other does the defense every week (for consistency of grading). Or will they just switch full weeks on and off?
September 6th, 2022 at 4:45 PM ^
No idea. Last fall Seth said they were splitting this fall and then on the podcast he said Brian was taking offense this week. I have to imagine they would keep the same side of the ball or consistency but maybe the switch it up and have funny quips about each other's grading. That could be fun.
September 6th, 2022 at 4:45 PM ^
For now he's on offense (because it's happier) and I'm on defense, but if mine ends up being happier maybe we'll switch again, and if it turns out that me doing uFR is just the thing that makes Michigan better well then I'm fucked.
September 6th, 2022 at 5:07 PM ^
And a Special Teams UFR by Alex Drain. Eh, eh?
September 6th, 2022 at 5:30 PM ^
Hell, I could do this year's special teams UFR. +3 X number of special teams plays. Jay Harbaugh +10 RPS
September 6th, 2022 at 5:36 PM ^
Seth, how are you doing? We all worry about Brian, but nobody ever asks about Seth.
The way that you've become the MAN for mgoblog is amazing and you deserve so much respect for it.
We love you Seth, hope life is treating you well.

Ace still did these each week on his new blog this past season
September 6th, 2022 at 8:01 PM ^
I don't know where/what Ace's new blog is, and I don't really care. His post-game write-ups were pretty good, and his basketball content was top notch. But with the way Seth, Alex, and Dave have stepped up, I don't miss Ace one bit. I especially don't miss the way he crapped on Seth every podcast (the Ace-Brian team was passively mean to Seth (sometimes overtly), I always thought).
September 6th, 2022 at 8:46 PM ^
I need to learn how to html the poll in at the end. Also, maybe next week I’ll not post it in diaries so people actually see it.

- Regular posts by the Mathlete

Ticket Watch. It has been here off and on. Maybe it's still on. I don't remember seeing it for a while.
September 6th, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
Yes! I buy about a dozen tickets to one game per year. This helped me determine how close to game day I could wait.
September 6th, 2022 at 8:38 PM ^
Seth has started doing it on the podcast, now sponsored by TicketIQ.

TWIS... especially since EDSBS is gone.
September 6th, 2022 at 6:03 PM ^
I'm sure many of you are aware of this, but EDSBS may be gone, but the crew at the heart of that fine website (Spencer Hall, Ryan Nanni, Jason Kirk, and Holly Anderson) are doing podcasts these days, specifically the glorious Shutdown Fullcast. In season, it's generally two podcasts a week, one reviewing the weekend action and called Fullcast After Dark (or some such thing) and the preview episode later in the week. FWIW, they certainly ridicule teams which perform way below expectations. They also lean into cultural and personal humorous topics, too. They are fun to listen to.
September 6th, 2022 at 7:13 PM ^
Am aware, but podcasts just aren't the same.
Besides, the absolute treasure column of that entire website was "Hatin' Ass Spurrier", which sadly has also resigned (not retired) when the site closed down.
