Lighten up a little, Francis
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:35 PM ^
"It's an Orji in the end zone!"
At that moment, he should have been escorted from the stadium.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:47 PM ^
Nothing I love more than someone saying what I'm thinking, and it also being something questionable for tv. I loved that.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:57 PM ^
Right... that was great. The OP does need to lighten up. Laugh a little. It makes life more fun.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:03 PM ^
Should have been a buffet waiting at the goal line. Nobody likes banging on an empty stomach.
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:20 PM ^
How dare he say something so vulgar?! Fucking pearl clutching white Quakers.

I thought RGIII did a great job and enjoyed his commentating.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:35 PM ^
Guess I'll repost this in here since it will likely get buried in game thread. Judge as you will.
Tally of RGIII, blossoming sex criminal, and his horny comments:
- Started out with fixating on Corum's thighs, several times calling them "thick'ums"
- Literally groaned, orgasmically, upon seeing Robbins' mustache
- After a shot of female Michigan student fans in the crowd, he commented that they "look like they're trying to get married tonight."
- The great Orji tease
- The great Orgy in the Endzone
While hilarious, I am interested in odds: how many games until RGIII exposes himself on the air?
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:43 PM ^
Depends on if they get back to Ann Arbor. Not sure the pregame dispensary tour is going to be as productive in other towns.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:46 PM ^
Eugene, Fort Collins, Boulder, LA, Seattle, all beg to differ.
*EDIT: Especially Eugene, man. I miss those old-school grow connections in the Camas Valley. Just sort of making do here in A2.

Will Tuck be coming?
September 3rd, 2022 at 4:46 PM ^
I thought he was really good and well spoken until he wasn't. Surprised he could have such bad judgement.
I'm sure it would of been funnier if I'm not watching it with my 2 daughters.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:06 PM ^
Same. My 9 year old wanted to know why he refused to say his last name. Just shut up.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:35 PM ^
So explain it to said 9 year old, it’s called “parenting”
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
You shouldn't have to discuss what the fuck an orgy is EVER to a 9 year old. *edited for personal attack, but statement holds true*
September 3rd, 2022 at 8:42 PM ^
If said 9 year old is in 3rd or 4th grade and not homeschooled it’s not that unlikely said 9 year old will just google it and find out without your input, but whatever my man

Seems like a mixed bag of replies so I'll just say this -
1) Mark Jones, usually don't mind- seemed lost. Incomplete pass? Fumble. Sack? Incomplete pass. Seemed to be preoccupied by RGIII's antics.
2) Orji statement(s)? - inappropriate for the audience. Lack of filter not "refreshing"
3 and should be 1) My guess is most of those who supported the Comments don't have children or care about kids. Entirely inappropriate discussion for a sporting event. Time and a place. I don't care about "progressive" culture or politics, but I can guarantee Keith Jackson would never have made a sexual joke so obvious.
4) The segment on michigan fan girls...Random creepy giggling like he was 12. Pretty gross first impression from my standpoint. Disappointing to see the positive reviews on here from the perspective of a parent with young kids in the house.
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:38 PM ^
Agree. Know your audience. This was a Saturday afternoon game. Alot of families watch this. His comments is probably fine for talk radio or espn/fox weekday argument shows.
I think he was just a little to loose today.

vir·tue sig·nal·ing
noun
-
the action or practice of publicly expressing opinions or sentiments intended to demonstrate one's good character or the moral correctness of one's position on a particular issue.
"it's noticeable how often virtue signaling consists of saying you hate things"
September 3rd, 2022 at 5:45 PM ^
If you eat a good pizza, how often do you take time to detail your feelings on why, vs how frequently you choose to show disdain for a sweet sauce or soggy dough? The fu$* kind of response is this, Webster?
September 3rd, 2022 at 6:09 PM ^
Oh pull the stick out of your hiney. I was watching with my 10 year old *and* my elderly parents. Everyone thought it was hilarious.
The 10 year old has been raised in a world of Jake Butt and endless butt jokes. He knows where babies come from and how they are made. Orgies were a new thing to explain - but it's not that hard to parent and explain it in a toned-down way that mostly made him go "huh" and scratch his head.
September 3rd, 2022 at 6:22 PM ^
"Everyone thought it was hilarious." Even the 5th grader who doesn't understand? Glorifying sexual action to kids is not hilarious and no matter what "parenting" you're a master of, that isn't funny to me.
I am one of the most inappropriate people in my group of friends, but I don't make these comments in a family setting. End of story.
September 3rd, 2022 at 6:14 PM ^
RGIII turned me off pretty early in the game when his first impression of the student section was that he saw a couple of students throwing up from excessive tailgating. Yes, that happens and it’s not impossible that he saw what he says he saw, but is that really the key takeaway you want to provide? The comment about the girls who “are looking to get married tonight” was out of line. The Orji stuff suffered from lack of originality as much as anything else, and he went there twice.
Seems like an affable guy, but either a complete horn dog or a guy with filter issues. I’d rather have a more professional announcer and get my horny/off-color commentary elsewhere.
September 3rd, 2022 at 6:02 PM ^
it deserves to be buried, like the rest of this thread.
September 4th, 2022 at 10:11 AM ^
The comment about the coeds was cringe-worthy. That was the most "offensive" thing he said, IMO.
That said, I don't really understand all the pearl-clutching about the Orji in the end zone. I don't think I've ever had a bigger laugh watching a football game. I didn't need all the foreshadowing, but the comment itself was funny (if admittedly childish). My 6-year old was in the room (not watching the game, mind you, because if anyone can figure out how to make a 6-year old sit through a football game then please call me), and he asked why I was laughing. I told him it was because there's a party in the end zone. He couldn't care less. Some parents feel the need to explain everything truthfully and in great detail to small children, I guess. Or just say that the comment was made because, you know, his last name is Orji, and he's in the end zone.

I thought it was better than listening to Gus Johnson..

Insane take, no matter how you feel about RGIII
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:35 PM ^
Respectfully disagree. I found the lack of a filter, coupled with good insight, somewhat refreshing.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
His entrance onto the field was awesome. Also thought it was great how much of a crush he had on Michigan Stadium/Michigan’s program. He seemed like a genuine college football fan.
Definitely a few cringy moments, but I’m totally down for those guys to call more Michigan games
September 4th, 2022 at 10:55 AM ^
What good insights did he offer? I was underwhelmed by the actual color commentary, so I'm curious.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:39 PM ^
I thought he was entertaining.
He missed some key details about our team and players, but he's learning.
Lack of replays and too many damn commercials were more of an isue, IMO.
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:39 PM ^
RG3 might have a statue built for him within the game thread - he was awesome!
In one day, RG3 single-handed created about 50,000 points out of the mgoEther
September 3rd, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
I also did not enjoy his broadcast, but I can also see him improving quickly. Definitely some moments I wanted to mute my TV, but it was always when he was talking about something non-game related. I thought the actual analysis was fine.

I liked him, for a first timer. His seasoned vet partner was more disappointing.

I disagree, I liked him!

I’ll tell you this again. Shut up dude. Sack up and stop bitchin

Aside from seeing him run the stairs and hearing about how hot it was I thought he did a great job. Seemed very comfortable and confident, well spoken, and informed.
