(Not to clutter the board with Nebraska content, but Jon Johnston's rants are worthwhile. They shouldn't be buried in a long thread.)

Nebraska's athletics website has them scheduled to play Northwestern next week. I guess they're a glutton for punishment (other than having Frost as coach).
"Nebraska returns to Memorial Stadium in Lincoln next Saturday to take on Northwestern. The Homecoming game for the Big Red ...."
August 27th, 2022 at 10:05 PM ^
Time for them to de-frost themselves.
August 27th, 2022 at 6:37 PM ^
Frost really hasn't done shit. He was less qualified to be Nebraska's coach than Brady Hoke was when UM hired him. Frost's 12-0 is all he's ever done. That's it. Even Brady Hoke had an 11-1 year at Ball State. Frost strikes me as a gimmicky OC in the RichRod mold, not a HC who can manage and develop every part of a program. His record is worse than his two predecessors who were considered disasters.
August 27th, 2022 at 6:49 PM ^
Hoke coached at Ball State
Frost has no personal accountability, every decision he makes that fails, failed because of someone else. The program reflects that.
August 27th, 2022 at 8:23 PM ^
I can say with absolute certainty that Brady Hoke never had an 11-1 season at Bowling Green…
Ignoring that, Frost took over an 0-12 UCF team and took them to an undefeated season in his 2nd year… that alone makes him at least AS qualified as Hoke, if not more.
August 27th, 2022 at 10:06 PM ^
Didn't he win a national championship at UCF???

August 27th, 2022 at 10:10 PM ^
That 0-12 team was had better personnel than it's record but had some intangible problems with George O'leary being a spent force. Hokie took two different programs up, and Ball State is a historical disaster. Lots of people have one great year and turn out to be totally mediocre coaches. One winning season, regardless of the turnaround, doesn't qualify someone to run a program like Nebraska.
August 27th, 2022 at 10:38 PM ^
Frost took over an 0-12 UCF team and took them to an undefeated season in his 2nd year
There was something strange about that team. In the three years prior, UCF went 10-4, 12-1 and 9-4. And then they quit on O'Leary all of a sudden. Frost didn't really have to rebuild as much as he just had to get them to buy back in.
August 27th, 2022 at 11:33 PM ^
At this point I think we as fans need to stop reading so much into Frost's run at UCF. Yes UCF went 0-12 before he showed up; they also went 9-4, 12-1, and 10-2 the proceeding 3 years and recruited well under O'Leary. Frost mostly succeeded with guys already on the roster and hasn't shown much of an ability to build a team elsewhere. Hoke has at least been successful to varying degrees at stops before and after UM.

From 1994 through 97, Nebraska went 49-2. If they did that starting right now, Scott Frost would still have a lower winning percentage than Bo Pelini.

Can we make the Frost fraud charges retroactive to 1997?

Does Corn Guy realize that his symbolism, shit belonging in the bathroom, more reasonably applies to what he's saying—he IS the one in the toilet—than to the game?

I know I do.
August 28th, 2022 at 8:24 AM ^
Firing guys like Solich and Bo started their downfall and now Frost is just another disaster hire for their program. I love seeing them suck and hope they stick with Frost forever
August 28th, 2022 at 10:05 AM ^
I heard at the time that Solich had to leave Lincoln due to an inappropriate personal relationship. A quick google turned up nothing, so perhaps I should not be posting it here, but the friend who told me appeared to have quite credible info.

He could have stopped at 4 minutes. TLDW.

I wonder how many of the Nebraska fans were in line for this free beer/food?

Well said jmblue. See a lot of authenticity and passion in this video. Bingo card line (near end) is a keeper. Thanks for sharing.

I think Scott frost is great for Nebraska. I mean, he gets it. Good for the cornhuskers
August 28th, 2022 at 9:03 AM ^
Scott Frost and Nebraska fans are being punished for whining in 1997 and stealing 1/2 of our national championship!
GOD works in mysterious ways!
August 27th, 2022 at 6:06 PM ^
I can’t help but feel bad for the wonderful Nebby fans we met at the game there last year. Really sweet and enthusiastic. As for the institution, I shed no tears. They deserve their own circle of hell for shitting on their fan base.
August 27th, 2022 at 6:09 PM ^
The guy is right though, Frost needs to be gone. Nebraska's defense completely quit in this game when only down 3 points!
August 27th, 2022 at 8:27 PM ^
Imagine what that D is going to look like against teams that are supposed to have good running games - Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin - all in successive weeks.
August 27th, 2022 at 6:11 PM ^
Love him. Sounds exactly like me during the RR and Hoke years.
They are totally lost in the wilderness, very similar to us before Harbaugh came back, and just in time for us - because the changing paradigm and demographics in college football will make it very difficult for traditional powers to just bully their way back to relevance.
Bingo card reference was genius.
August 27th, 2022 at 10:16 PM ^
Nebraska needs to go back to cornfed linemen, triple option, and badass running backs who get bailed out of jail for the game. They could be Wisconsin in the West. They'll never be anything like they used to be. Recruiting is just too different.
August 29th, 2022 at 2:01 PM ^
And steroids. They need to go back to the steroids.
August 28th, 2022 at 12:16 PM ^
Frost was supposed to be their version of Harbaugh coming back.
August 28th, 2022 at 1:35 PM ^
He didn't have Harbaugh's track record though. His hire was more like Juwan Howard's - a well-regarded candidate, but with a short résumé.

A lot of people are piling on Scott Frost. Respectfully, my view is different. I like what Frost is doing. In fact, I don’t want him to change a thing. He’s doing a fantastic job - and, my only wish is.. their AD offers him a position as coach for life.
And, of course, this reflects how challenging the Big 8 / 12 was - for all those years. I’m confident that Husker players, alumni, and fans thought they’d own the big West every year when they joined the conference. I think - keep him forever…
August 27th, 2022 at 6:51 PM ^
I'm thinking in the old Big 12 he'd be a 9 win per year coach.
August 27th, 2022 at 6:31 PM ^
I guess he does his best thinking in the bathroom?
August 27th, 2022 at 6:33 PM ^
Up 14-3 and lost. Hate to see it

August 27th, 2022 at 6:39 PM ^
That onside kick was criminal. Up 11, play the game. Scott, you're getting everything a guy like you deserves.
I heard Alberts wanted to shitcan him last year but the boosters/alums pushed back. Gonna be a long few weeks after OU drops it in dry on em and before that buyout drops in Oct.
August 27th, 2022 at 6:49 PM ^
Wonder if Scott will blame his players or his coaches?

ND (North Dakota) State plays the Huskers next week. To say the least, on the occasion I’ll be cheering for a team in that game - it will most certainly be for the ND State Bison.
August 27th, 2022 at 7:42 PM ^
Go Bison! Love that program.

‘75 - thanks for the correction…. And, my apologies for the inaccuracy.
So, two interesting games next week involving ND.
