Rumors of QB Jadyn Davis reclassifying to ‘23
Well this would help, seeing that our 2023 QB board is basically non-existent, and our 2022 class brought in two project types after the big JJ get in 21.
If I were to rate the 3, I would have it:
1. Moore; 2. Davis; 3. Carr
I agree with this. Davis is at least in the same ballpark as the two local kids.
I would add that Davis would be way more than a consolation prize but a huge recruiting win of a potential foundational player.
Hopefully someone is allowed to make this kid a "strong ass offer"...
agreed....
when overtaking ass, offer must be strong
JH has been reading the blog and is aware of how concerned people are about the class ranking. He's now decided to borrow from the next class to pump up the recruiting rankings of the 2023 class.
Who says he's stuck in the past and not willing to change?
j/k
Seems like that would be difficult to do this late in the summer before his junior year? If he is going to commit it would almost be better to let him be the face of the 2024 class. Build some momentum with a strong 2022 season and shoot for a top 5 2024 recruiting class. Still have JJ in 2023.
That being said if the 5 star QB wants to reclassify and join your team you say "yes please"
I also still have faith that the 2023 class will be a top 25 class nationally. Not great, but certainly not the wheels are failing off program killer.
The class will still finish in the top 25 even if we don’t get a commit from Davis. My ND fan best friend has been giving me shit constantly since they’re on fire this year so I’ve had to actually look into this ranking shit more that I typically do or would like to. Here’s what I’ve seen when I analyze the rankings as of now:
It’s still very early and nearly every school ranked ahead of us until you hit 12th or so on the 247 rankings has 18-20+ recruits committed (compared to our 11 currently with five 4-stars and six 3-stars). Of those schools ranked between 12-35+ with that amount already committed, all of them have at most two or three 4-star players and the remaining 15 are 3-Stars. So if we take a longer view of what our class will finish with I don’t see how we finish outside of the top 20 once we get up to 20+ commits. And if Davis reclassifies and gets added to this class then we will finish no lower than 15th with a shot at top 10.
The bottom line is the sky isn’t falling as the star gazers would have us believe. It just feels that way because of how we all assumed this class would look after making the CFP, beating OSU, and winning the B10.
ND may be ranked 2 now, what happens when they start losing this year? How many decommits?
I totally agree. Freeman is in the honeymoon phase right now and can do no wrong. No wins and losses, all positive press about how energetic and awesome he is.
I recall another assistant coach they hired that had more experience, better credentials, and recruited extremely well landing all kinds of future NFL talent. How well did all those 5-Stars turn out for ole Charlie Weis?
No one knows whether or not Freeman can actually lead a team and coach/manage a game as a head coach. All the Domer homers are certainly acting like he walks on water right now though…until week 1 when I told my friend I’ll give him 20 points against the nuts in Columbus.
This is exactly what I was thinking. It's so early in the recruiting process to worry about rankings. Now if Michigan is still ranked outside the top 25 come early October? Yeah, absolutely panic.
It's pretty difficult for a kid to reclassify this late. But maybe it's been in the works longer than it appears. Barring a credible source, though, it just feels like message-board speculation.
Quinn Ewers reclassified and enrolled at OSU about 20 min before fall practice started last year.
If he can reclassify and does commit to Michigan, I hope it works out perfectly.
He didn’t have time to pack and evidently didn’t need to.
Maybe Santa can do a dry run in July for practice and just drop off one 5 Star QB.
disagree. get him on campus as early as possible. red shirt him and give him a year to learn the system so he could be ready to play in 2024. seems like a no brainer to me.
Recruiting devotees may have some counter-arguments, but isn't Michigan really working to win football championships rather than ratings wars?
Lol, see, e.g., national semi-final game against Georgia. I would posit winning "ratings wars" is likely directly related to ability to win football championships.
Of course. I was reacting to the idea of when he should reclassify. That's why my post is indented after one that discussed it.
I think you leave him also in 24 and let him be a lead recruiter and build an awesome 24 class.
I think you let him do what he wants.
I’m not sure it matters. He is likely either sitting one year or two.
I would settle for just a commitment from him and figure out the other details. Read somewhere that osu tried to get an early commit out of him before taking Raiola and he balked at it. Changing his recruitment timeline and getting him to reclassify would seem like a heavy lift.
Where are you reading this? 247 and On3 have basically said it hasn’t been a consideration for Davis in a while. He was originally close to committing to OSU and reclassifying to 2023 in the spring.
Yea, I'm not seeing this anywhere. OP is speculating here, most likely.
I saw it on Fansided at GBMWolverine.com
This the article? Not much there…
https://gbmwolverine.com/2022/07/15/any-chance-jadyn-davis-reclassifies…
My guess is Counterstrike Guy has the info.
The Santa Ono effect.
If you’ve never heard of Christmas in July, it doesn’t snow but it sure as hell $$ rains $$.
If he comes to Michigan, he can sit on Santa's lap....
Don't want anyone fired.
If he comes to Michigan, he can sit on my lap. Which I normally wouldn't appreciate. But I'll take one for the team, the team, the team...
Then you could chalk it up to it being one of the first of the Santa Ono Wins!
Now, back to more music.
but if we dont get him, my god, think of the agony. I think we take him whenever he wants to join. Though if he joins early, i would expect to see one of the Mc brothers to leave after this year possibly. I know they are all in, but they also probably enjoy playing football, and they may not.
Lets get Davis, and have that embarrassment of riches problem.
Also, if he reclassifies, i wonder if that opens things up a bit with some of the WRs or others who were hesitant without a bonafide QB in the class.
I'd love him to commit and then figure out the 23-24 details after!
Can we get a little clarification on what the "recruiting campfires" are?
i'm fairly certain it refers to the backyard campfire that OP's mom lit for them after they finished playing counterstrike with their friends
After reading GBMwolverine.com, we had subs and it was crazy.
We must be talking reeeeeeally old school recruiting methods here.
Obviously the OP is co-hosting MGoCamping Trips with Dennis and we haven't been invited.
this would be neat-o, especially if he commits to the good guys
Seems like that would suck for his high school. But hey good for us.
Word
Can we afford($) to do this?
Rumour also has it that
1) I'm considering Canada. First step is learning to spell the Canadian language.
2) Santa (Claus) is coming to town and the recruiting gifts will be aplenty!
Oh wait...
“Rumors of Jadyn Davis reclassifying to ‘23” implies he’s actively considering it himself.
That’s quite different from “UM is trying to get Davis to reclassify” which doesn’t suggest any success in persuading Davis to do so.
LOL, I just read the article. I have no clue who the author Cameron Stokes is, but he concludes with this:
"I’d put his chances of reclassifying at pretty unlikely..."
And I'd put his chances of reclassifying so that he can commit to Michigan even less likely than that.
As a 5-star recruit, Davis will have NIL $$ thrown in his direction from schools all over the country. Are the now-legal bag men going to be tossing around that kind of dough for kids who are going to sit on the bench for even one year? If he reclassified to '23, how much playing time is he going to get with JJ or Cade being the starter?
I'll just leave this here: A deep dive on 2024 QB Jadyn Davis and his importance to Ohio State - Land-Grant Holy Land (landgrantholyland.com)
Oops poopy, I fell on me bum. This would be a direct W. Yeah, they got other guys, but that's revisionist. He was their #1 guy. So, this would be a huge head to head recruiting win, IMO. If he reclassifies though, what's his decision timeline? Would be great to be sooner than later to bring talent with him.
Where is this rumor from? How about a link
