OT - Chase Winovich Traded to Browns
As a Browns/UM fan, this makes me happy because I always loved Chase!
However, as a Browns fan who knows what a dysfunctional shit-show the Browns always are, this makes me sad for Chase just a little bit.
Looking forward to getting to pull for him again, and given the Browns’ current lack of any pass rushing depth, hopefully he gets a chance to get his career going again.
At least Chase seems excited about it…

to be fair, he'd probably seem excited about getting his taxes done. He just has that energy
Getting done with my taxes gets me that energy.
But he might feel that way about an upcoming root canal.
Which is good, since he might be up for the NFL equivalent.

Haven't seen someone put such emphasis on Cleveland since LeBron won the NBA title with the Cavs and also each time he left Cleveland.

If the Browns can find him a role or position that gets meaningful snaps, he should do well. He had double digit sacks with the Pats over his first 2 seasons as a purely situational player that got like 30% of the snaps or something.
Last season was a struggle with no sacks and a lot of missed time due to a finicky hamstring.

Good for Chase. I hope a fresh start gets him out of whatever injury bug/non-rotation bugaboo he spent the last year and a half in. He's still young, plays with a lot of heart, so here's to a change of scenery and playing opposite man-mountain Myles Garrett opening things up for him.

Poor guy.

I don't need to elaborate, but it could be worse.

Is this OT?
March 15th, 2022 at 12:22 PM ^
Digging the Chicago Fire...
I think some people put "OT" on any post so as to avoid the Board Topic Oversight Committee. If you don't put OT on there and they think it's OT, then they will comment incessantly about what is and what is not OT. They're serious people and should be taken seriously.
Do not mess with the BTOC. Serious people, indeed.

This should make MGrowOld happy.

Just beat me to it LOL

It does. Now I can add a 50 Browns jersey to my current 22 (Peppers) and 11 (DPJ) collection.
Although in the "timing is everything" department the news of his arrival is being just slightly overshadowed by the trip Stefanski, Berry and the Haslams are making to Houston this afternoon to talk to Watson.

I ultimately don't think he's coming here, but at this point they better get him. This will torch next season and leave the locker room in tatters if they don't. I'm guessing they released Tretter to make room to take his contract on. Callahan must have already told them that Nick Harris can start.
I tried to convince myself otherwise, but i think it's obvious now that Berry never wanted Baker. Otherwise he would have paid him after beating the Steelers in the playoffs and almost beating the Chiefs.
You may be on to something here...

mGrowOld is going to wake up happy today!
At that age, every day you wake up is a happy day

Good for Chase for getting closer to his home and family. He’s certainly dawg enough for the Browns.
March 15th, 2022 at 12:42 PM ^
Couldn't be any closer to home unless he played for Pittsburgh.
March 15th, 2022 at 10:29 AM ^
In official MGoBlog Cleveland-related trade nomenclature, I think the title of this post is supposed to be "Chase a bro".
March 15th, 2022 at 10:53 AM ^
I guess this means Clowney is not coming back and they're not going after Chandler Jones.
Good for Chase. Playing opposite Garrett will do wonders for your career.
March 15th, 2022 at 10:58 AM ^
I don't think that's dead yet, I see Wino as more playing the Takk Mckinley role, who was only on a one year deal.
you mean Chandler Jones?
All the chatter I have heard was Clowney wants out of CLE. I doubt he'll be back unless no one else wants him.

Let's go! Go Browns!
Hope Wino kills it.

Wow, quite the week for Chase. First he cuts his hair then he gets traded.

Who IS that man?
March 15th, 2022 at 11:08 AM ^
Go Chase! Go Blue! Go Browns . . . ?
March 15th, 2022 at 11:15 AM ^
Winovich had a couple things going against him in 2021. First, he had a bad hamstring which limited him in practice. On the Pats, that's huge because their schemes can differ greatly from week to week. He reportedly had trouble setting an edge (sound familiar?) and staying in play on runs.
Hopefully a new system does the trick.
March 15th, 2022 at 12:43 PM ^
Browns basically have no DTs. Getting blown out on the run is kinda their forte right now.
March 15th, 2022 at 12:54 PM ^
Gotta be good at something.
Yea, but they have the best edge rush combo in the NFL ... so the edge guys can watch teams run right up the middle for 8 yards a pop

Not worth another thread, but Lions signing DJ Chark to a low risk 1 year prove it deal seems like a smart move. It seems like the Lions have been making solid moves and that's a really weird feeling.
seems like a smart move for Chark.
Only have to play one year in the worst organization in the NFL, while getting paid decent money, and getting plenty of playing time to showcase your skills for next offseason.
March 15th, 2022 at 11:40 AM ^
So a little off-topic, but now with JAX signing one of their tackles rumor has it they will go with Hutch at 1 instead of one of the OTs. That would SUCK
March 15th, 2022 at 11:44 AM ^
Can Chase play QB?
March 15th, 2022 at 11:51 AM ^
OSKEE!!!!!
Was going to post this but you beat me to it...
Took a job in Cleveland a couple years back.
This is the first thing my son sent me when I told him his mother and I were moving.
I personally find it awesome when ohioans are forced to cheer for Wolverines, because they're on the brown's roster.
Best of luck Chase!
Interestingly enough, I took the Browns to the Super Bowl just this morning.
T's and P's Chase.
Browns fan here. Love this trade for Cleveland!
How much money has he made in the league to date? I don’t know the answer but I’m guessing he’s probably better off financially than most men his age. That said, I hope he is able to jump start his career in Cleveland.
