New 2022 Running Back Offer
Looks like we still want a power back in this class after missing out on the ASU transfer.
New offer Andrew Paul from Texas fits the bill. Plays on a good team in Dallas - but perhaps not the highest level of competition (??). 247 lists him as 5'11" 220. His senior stats are 2,824 yards at almost 10 per carry with 44 TDs .
His three top schools are UM, MSU and Colorado.

I remember another AP from Texas - he turned out to be something special. Come to Michigan Andrew!

Is this guy's game more Tavierre Dunlop or Hassan Haskins?
December 27th, 2021 at 8:29 PM ^
Haven't seen enough of Tavierre yet.
For me and the Hassan comp: He already has the Hassan leap! Paul looks to have more top-end speed and he has some excellent "phone booth" wiggle to him...he looks a bit more athletic. Today he does not have Hassan's power but as a 5'11" 220 pound 17/18 year old he is already a load. My question is, "Why is this young man still available???". Sign him up!

Weighed my 6'0" self this morning after a full day of holiday eating and I'm 190lbs. This kid is 220lbs which means I can continue eating like this for another week or so. #Winning

Expect a Michigan offer in about 8 days.
December 26th, 2021 at 1:47 PM ^
mags, the kid looks pretty sharp. what are your thoughts?
December 26th, 2021 at 1:12 PM ^
I like your ambition. #goals

Looks like he was offered today and we immediately made his top three:

Not to be a downer here but looking at the other schools in his top 3, that's not a huge deal.
December 26th, 2021 at 1:25 PM ^
Ah, the old "Not that I'm <insert what the writer claims not to be saying>, but.... <insert statement saying that's what he believes>".
December 26th, 2021 at 7:50 PM ^
Hey, it's the official sponsor of posts by Dean Pelton!
(I kid, I kid -- Dean, if you're out there, I hope you're at least TRYING to enjoy what has transpired this season for Michigan!)
December 26th, 2021 at 2:53 PM ^
Haskins and Karan Higdon were low 3 stars, so we've done pretty well with them.
December 26th, 2021 at 3:26 PM ^
A) Higdon was a 4 star, not that it matters.
B) I wasn't commenting at all on his ranking. I was responding to the guy above who said "we offered and jumped immediately into his top 3." That's not a huge deal when none of the teams previously in his top 3 were top schools. It's not like his top 3 was Oklahoma, Texas and USC. Who did we bump, Cal?
Of course we jumped immediately into his top 3. That's not a reason not to be excited about the recruit, I'm just saying that beating out those other schools isn't what should get us excited either.
December 26th, 2021 at 4:17 PM ^
Not that it's a big deal, but Higdon was a 3-star.
December 26th, 2021 at 6:13 PM ^
Looks like he was a 3 star in the composite and a 4 star with 247. So both of you are correct and that is a big deal…or not.
Was it Higdon who had a coach that started posting on here and pushing his interest in Michigan while committed to Iowa?
December 26th, 2021 at 4:33 PM ^
I don't think the poster you responded to was excited about "beating out those other schools" or giving meaning to the other schools in the Top 3. They were just saying that UM is in his Top 3 right after the offer, so there is a good chance we land him. That was it.

MSU and Auburn are both two programs that have a track record of finding and developing talent at running back. That's not insignificant that he is holding offers from both. Mizzou and TCU are also programs that have done well with players that have similar prospect profiles.
At this stage in the cycle, if a power back is what you are looking for, a guy with his recruiting profile (which is what you are referring to) seems like a pretty compelling guy to pursue late in the game.
December 26th, 2021 at 10:43 PM ^
And MSU’s RB coach is leaving, right? That can’t help their case.
December 26th, 2021 at 3:29 PM ^
Moran!
...we're looking for a back to fill a specific role, not be Donovan Edwards.
We have our explosive backs Edwards (also an amazing slot reciever) and Corum on the team...Harbaugh wants a power back that can fall forward for 2 yards on 4th and 1 to replace that part of what we lose with HH gone after the year.
We are recruiting for a role, not looking for another all purpose back this late in the cycle.

Go look at H2 top three
December 26th, 2021 at 11:58 AM ^
Andrew Paul grew up trying to emulate Adrian Peterson. The budding running back did a great impression of the seven-time Pro Bowler and future Hall-of-Famer while helping lead Dallas (Texas) Parish Episcopal School to a TAPPS Division-1 Championship. In the Panthers' final three playoff games this year, Paul put up video game numbers, averaging 368.3 rushing yards and 5.3 touchdowns.
In the playoffs, he rushed for 1100 yards and 16 TDs over three games.
December 26th, 2021 at 3:48 PM ^
He should probably bump the difficulty up to “starter”.
December 26th, 2021 at 12:01 PM ^
I didn’t feel like a running back was needed. Then I watched the film, and now I want him. The good stuff starts in the later parts of the film imo (once they start actually tackling him). Now I’m going to be bummed if we don’t get him.
December 26th, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
staee also in his top 3, damn, Tuc coming!!!
/s
December 26th, 2021 at 12:20 PM ^
Staee's running backs coach just blew off East Lansing for Gainesville.
December 26th, 2021 at 10:45 PM ^
Because he knows that even when they are at their best, nobody gives a shit about MSU.
December 26th, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
I'm a little surprised that UM has the numbers to take another back here (was feeling skeptical of having numbers to even take the transfer). Got to think they'll be a lot of departure activity after the... Alabama game (smiles sheepishly).
December 26th, 2021 at 12:17 PM ^
Staff has been quoted multiple times that they'd like 5 scholarship backs, which makes sense. We have not seen much from Dunlap and Stokes will be a freshman. Edward's and Corum both missed time with injuries this year.
December 26th, 2021 at 1:18 PM ^
Exactly -- injuries this year make it clear that it's okay to pump up the numbers in the RB room a little. With as much as we use our backs, it's necessary.
December 26th, 2021 at 1:35 PM ^
Was thinking more in terms of class numbers. Completely agree that 4 backs is a scary number heading into a season.
December 26th, 2021 at 12:05 PM ^
Oh no! Another under the radar generic 3* running back! I hope he doesn't hurdle many fools while carrying us to a B1G title...
December 26th, 2021 at 12:08 PM ^
Interesting mix of offers, also has some from Auburn, Purdue, Houston, and TCU.
December 26th, 2021 at 12:24 PM ^
Good balance, great shiftiness for a big back! Definitely want this guy
December 26th, 2021 at 12:26 PM ^
Andrew? Paul? Two first names? YES PLEASE!

Solid offer list for a late pickup. Works for me.
December 26th, 2021 at 12:45 PM ^
I love how this staff always has a backup plan when recruiting. Curious to see who they move on to if Kevonte Henry decides to go elsewhere.
December 26th, 2021 at 12:49 PM ^
Looks like one of those 2 or 3 stars that go to Wisconsin and become monsters. Yes please.
December 27th, 2021 at 8:39 PM ^
Actually, I think he looks/runs a lot like Jonathon Taylor. He's patient in letting the blocks develop...accelerates through the hole...breaks a tackle or two-takes it to the house. He already has excellent vision. Mike Hart might take him straight to The League.
December 26th, 2021 at 1:09 PM ^
I like his film. Definitely want him.
December 26th, 2021 at 1:14 PM ^
Mike Hart serves as a great reminder that the player is more important than competition.
December 26th, 2021 at 1:29 PM ^
As one of the hand wringers here hoping we'd have more 2022 RB's being offered, I'm happy to see this.
December 26th, 2021 at 2:11 PM ^
Come to Michigan and be our favorite bowling ball covered in knives!
December 26th, 2021 at 3:37 PM ^
Watched his highlights today. Not bad vision. Was timed as a 11.3 100 meter guy. That seems about right watching his speed on tape. They ran a ton of counter action with him. Didn’t break a lot of tackles but still runs hard.
December 26th, 2021 at 3:57 PM ^
I just read that we may be back in it for Dillon Bell as well. Dillon could also play WR. Does anyone know if we could take both?
December 26th, 2021 at 5:03 PM ^
Presumably the coaches, and that’s about it.
There’s going to be a decent amount of attrition to even fit all the guys that have signed their LOIs already, and once you get beyond the first 10-12 obvious attrition due to eligibility/NFL, it requires a lot of speculation about transfers that makes people uncomfortable, especially as it seems the coaches expect 15-20 such transfers based on how they’re recruiting. That said, given our current WR room and signings, it seems likely they’d be looking at Bell more as a RB than WR.
December 26th, 2021 at 6:47 PM ^
More great recruiting news after a phenomenal signing day.
December 26th, 2021 at 7:53 PM ^
Hate make this comp, but yeah, I see some Kenneth Walker in him. Power back who can dance a bit, but then plant his feet and get vertical
December 26th, 2021 at 8:28 PM ^
You can never have Too many Running backs
