Moody was 22/24 on field goals and 4/6 from beyond 40 with a long of 52, and 56/56 on extra point tries. His perfect 4/4 night at Nebraska was the difference in that 32-29 victory, and his popup kickoff kept opponents to the third-worst kickoff return efficiency in the country, according to FEI, which placed Michigan’s special teams 1st overall this year.
Congrats Jake!

Congrats Jake! Any chance he'll come back next year or is it off to the NFL?
December 10th, 2021 at 12:29 AM ^
I'm guessing he's gonna strike while the iron is red hot, just my view. Hopefully he can have a long and decorated career in the pros as well
December 9th, 2021 at 9:06 PM ^
somewhere, Quinn Nordin is muttering to himself "do your job" over and over.
December 9th, 2021 at 9:06 PM ^
Congratulations! It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine!
December 9th, 2021 at 10:36 PM ^
Watching him line up a FG or XP was like popping an antacid in some high pressure games this year. And let us not forget his 7 for 4 performance against Mel Tucker!
December 10th, 2021 at 9:34 AM ^
One of my favorite moments of the season is after he made the actual live FG, he looked at the MSU sideline and gave a thumbs down. He cannot be rattled. Like any kicker, he will occasionally miss but he does not get rattled.

Jay Harbaugh is one of the best ST coaches in the college football. Having said that, was he the coach in the MSU (punt) game?
December 10th, 2021 at 10:19 AM ^
Jay was the TE coach at the time. The 2015 ST coach was the guy that spent one year in Ann Arbor and then went back to USC. I forget his name, but he was widely considered to be the best ST coach in the country.

John Baxter.
December 10th, 2021 at 10:33 AM ^
I know you might consider this an "other than that Mrs. Lincoln" moment, but Blake O'Neill was an absolute weapon that season, and frankly was a big part of the reason Michigan was winning the MSU game in the first place.
December 9th, 2021 at 9:14 PM ^
WOW! Congratulations, and Go Blue!
December 9th, 2021 at 9:14 PM ^
Nothing like a rock-solid kicker. Great reward for a great season
December 10th, 2021 at 6:11 AM ^
I'll be honest, I TOTALLY do not get the lack of respect and the general lack of scholarships for kickers. In my opinion it seems one of the more important positions on the team. But, what do I know.....
December 10th, 2021 at 10:07 AM ^
Because they rarely are a sure thing and can lose their nerve like Nordin did for awhile.
December 9th, 2021 at 9:19 PM ^
Congrats Jake!
December 9th, 2021 at 9:19 PM ^
He's going to be a very good pro...what an asset he's been
December 9th, 2021 at 9:20 PM ^
Northville!
December 9th, 2021 at 9:27 PM ^
I'm sure I'm wrong, but I swear I read somewhere he was from Pinckney...
December 9th, 2021 at 9:55 PM ^
You're right that you're wrong.
(I see they’ve already updated his profile to mention the Lou Groza win. They are quick on the draw.)
December 9th, 2021 at 10:27 PM ^
Fair enough, but I wasn't completely off base.
December 9th, 2021 at 10:59 PM ^
Dude-- He was a Mustang!!
Went to school with my daughters!!!
December 9th, 2021 at 9:24 PM ^
Very under appreciated to have a great kicker.
December 9th, 2021 at 9:56 PM ^
About 4 billion years ago, I remember that Bo considered kicking an afterthought, and would have anybody or a walk-on do the kicking chores (in the early 70's, it was linebacker Jon Anderson, who along with baseball pitcher Steve Howe went on to form the progressive rock group Yes). Unfortunately, this tactic resulted in losses in several key games. The first special teams player to be actively recruited was Don Bracken in 1980- his first punt took off like a rocket for 50+ yards, and the roar of the crowd was unbelievable, especially for a punter. We have come a long way...!
Congrats Jake!

That right there is a first-rate sports and music history lesson. The Michigan Difference?
December 10th, 2021 at 8:47 AM ^
Wish it were true!
Different dudes, both British. One played football, but the other kind. The other one gets confused with the baseball player often enough that he has a disambiguation link at the top of his Wikipedia page.
December 10th, 2021 at 1:55 PM ^
@AAC-
Um, you do realize that was an obvious joke, yes?
December 9th, 2021 at 11:17 PM ^
Yeah, do you remember Ali Haji-Sheikh? That guy was money. Bo wouldn't give him a scholarship until finally in his senior year. He grew up in Texas but was originally from Ann Arbor, that and he was smart are the only reasons we had the privilege of his services as a kicker.
December 10th, 2021 at 2:12 PM ^
I remember attending a pep rally at the bell tower and the MC calling him “an eye-ranian by way of Texas.” So much cringe.
December 10th, 2021 at 8:18 PM ^
I went to the MLB All-Star game with him and a mutual friend when it was in Detroit. Nicest person you will ever meet. He even let me try on his Super Bowl ring he received while playing for Washington.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:02 AM ^
Wasn’t Ali Haji-Sheikh before Bracken? I don’t know if he was recruited or not but he was a good kicker who ended up in the NFL.
December 10th, 2021 at 12:11 AM ^
He was the place-kicker and kick off specialist, but not the punter. I remember a picture of him in one of the local papers trying out punting in practice after one of the punting disasters cost us a game.
December 9th, 2021 at 10:36 PM ^
Congrats Jake! Well deserved! Maybe run it back? ;)
December 9th, 2021 at 10:37 PM ^
Wow. From having Harbaugh sleep over at his house until this. Surreal.
/s
December 9th, 2021 at 10:51 PM ^
Well earned. Congrats to him.
December 9th, 2021 at 10:52 PM ^
Congrats Jake???
You sure deserve it ?
December 9th, 2021 at 10:54 PM ^
Jake is a DUDE. No drama with him at all, huge part of the team.
Quinn may still be holding his beer somewhere.
December 9th, 2021 at 11:05 PM ^
Money Moody!
Grats Jake!
Go Blue! ??
December 9th, 2021 at 11:07 PM ^
Tough life as a kicker. All those makes, and the one attempt from this season that I always think of first is the would-be clincher he biffed against Rutgers.
December 9th, 2021 at 11:11 PM ^
I am going to miss him. That comfort level of knowing that that 1) the field goal will be made and 2) the kickoff will always result in the ball being at most, the 25. And of course, you can go a get a beer while the extra point is being kicked.
December 9th, 2021 at 11:20 PM ^
Jake just made a mockery of #CollegeKickers all year long. Cheers to Money Moody making himself some Money being automatic for an NFL team for years to come.
December 9th, 2021 at 11:27 PM ^
Lou "The Toe" Groza not for nuthin...
December 9th, 2021 at 11:43 PM ^
If not for ______, we wouldn't be where we are. You can fill that blank with so many names, and Jake Moody is near the top of that list. Congrats and thank you for being a Wolverine!
December 10th, 2021 at 12:35 AM ^
Love having a kicker that you feel really confident in....Kid is automatic.
Congrats to him
December 10th, 2021 at 5:54 AM ^
Yay for Jake. Michigan has not even attempted a FG in the last 10 quarters played. That I find amazing as well
December 10th, 2021 at 6:06 AM ^
what an absolute slap in the face to IOWA special teams. Their fanbase should collectively hang their heads and frown.
December 10th, 2021 at 9:00 AM ^
Hard earned and well deserved! Congrats Jake! Those who stay will be champions. Go Blue!
December 10th, 2021 at 9:04 AM ^
We're going to look back and realize how special this team really was once we again have merely human kicking, human DEs, etc.
December 10th, 2021 at 9:15 AM ^
A reliable kicker really takes a football team to another level. We are lucky to have him this year!
