Lane Kiffin Would Take Miami Job if Offered
The guy he been a fun punching bag and it’s well deserved but he seems to have figured it out and I think he could make some noise at Miami. If this job opens it would be nice if he could challenge the Clemson machine.

Yeah, Lane Kiffin is a *has been.

Who is Andy Slater?
I could only evaluate this as a credible rumor if Sir Yacht tweeted it.
November 18th, 2021 at 2:01 PM ^
Obviously, Andy Slater is the creator of the "SLATER SCOOP" it's a household brand in his household!
November 18th, 2021 at 2:03 PM ^
Thanks for the info, Mrs. Slater!
November 18th, 2021 at 2:23 PM ^
It's hilarious he came up with his own catchphrase. I know Adrian Wojnarowski has his "Woj Bombs" but he never came up with that name himself. This guy sounds like the Uncle Rico of sports journalism!
Imagine if Adam Schefter came up with his own catchphrase! Schefty Surprise! Adam Bomb! (lol that last one might be a bit too far)
November 18th, 2021 at 2:49 PM ^
the odds that adam schefter refers to himself as "schefty" are approximately one thousand percent.
November 18th, 2021 at 3:06 PM ^
Only if he does it in the 3rd person since that would be awesome
November 18th, 2021 at 3:36 PM ^
Schefty sounds like a cross between Get Shorty and Get Schwifty
November 18th, 2021 at 2:52 PM ^
"Woj Bombs" and "Schefty Surprise" are just regional variations of the classic "Cleveland Steamer."
November 18th, 2021 at 3:07 PM ^
Well played sir
November 18th, 2021 at 3:24 PM ^
So is Adam Bomb the day after Taco Bell
November 18th, 2021 at 5:01 PM ^
Any reference to Cleveland Steamers is a upvote from me. A Chicago Sunroof would get an upvote as well though I'm not sure anyone has made that reference.
November 18th, 2021 at 5:29 PM ^
Quick search and the googles top result (Urban Dictionary) confirmed my suspicion.
November 18th, 2021 at 5:48 PM ^
It was just a simple Chicago Sunroof

Is the Slater Scoop sold next to the kitty litter?
November 18th, 2021 at 2:53 PM ^
I like to believe that he is the grown up version of AC Slater.
November 18th, 2021 at 3:56 PM ^
That is Albert Clifford Slater
November 18th, 2021 at 2:00 PM ^
miami's culture and lane kiffen seem like a match made in heaven.... to go down in flames together.
November 18th, 2021 at 2:06 PM ^
....but it would be fun to watch - with or without popcorn!
November 18th, 2021 at 2:00 PM ^
Eh, I thought he would have been good at USC too. If he goes to Miami, I could see him getting into trouble there too. Trouble just seems to find him everywhere, if he stays too long.
November 18th, 2021 at 3:53 PM ^
While I personally think Kiffin is a good OC but too much of a narcissist and an opportunist to be a good head coach, he was hamstrung at USC by scholarship reductions. They lost 30 over three years, which I believe covered all three of the full seasons he was coach there.
I suspect that without the scholarship reductions he'd have hung on for a couple more years before he got himself fired or left for the next shiny thing.
November 18th, 2021 at 6:08 PM ^
That’s probably part of it. Also, I think he probably learned from his failures along the way and working with Saban helped too I’m sure.
November 18th, 2021 at 6:32 PM ^
Yeah, I'm sure when USC fired him on the tarmac of the airport, the primary reason was he didn't overcome the scholarship handicap.
November 18th, 2021 at 9:33 PM ^
Scholarship restrictions reduced the number of players he could recruit and have on the team. Even if he was recruiting only five stars, a few guys wash out or get hurt or transfer and he has no depth at some positions.
Which in turn hurts his ability to win football games, which in turn hurts his ability to placate the enemies he'd undoubtedly made in the athletic department and the administration.

Gotta be nice for Old Miss players and recruits to know how enthusiastic their coach is about the prospect of taking another job.
November 19th, 2021 at 5:06 AM ^
Indeed! At least they’re not Tennessee…..
November 18th, 2021 at 2:07 PM ^
what a low-life.
November 18th, 2021 at 2:08 PM ^
money grab.
November 18th, 2021 at 5:07 PM ^
I guess the going rate is now $95 million for 10 years. So, why wouldn't Kiffin try to get his name associated with Miami, Florida, LSU, etc. and get Mississippi to ante up. It worked in East Lansing.
November 18th, 2021 at 5:26 PM ^
Mississippi state law limits coaching contracts to four years max. The best their schools can do is roll them over each year. It makes Kiffin easy to target if you really want him. I wouldn't, but Miami has done worse.
November 18th, 2021 at 2:08 PM ^
Dude wants to be back in Boca, not the brown lake waters of Oxford, MS.
November 18th, 2021 at 2:10 PM ^
Kiffin has already been HC at two blueblood programs and flamed out in both...he'd be a good hire, X;s's and O's wise.
November 18th, 2021 at 2:12 PM ^
He has done a good job at Ole Miss but that is going to continue to be a tough place to win consistently. One of Texas or Oklahoma is going to be in the West also (possibly both?) The path to the playoff would appear easier in the ACC. Although I think Miami needs on on campus stadium at some point. I watched the MSU game and the atmosphere was dead.
Talent rich state that with a little success will recruit itself. Easier conference slate. Does not seem like a horrible move.
November 18th, 2021 at 2:37 PM ^
Especially since Ole Miss can't leverage a bag man advantage anymore...*cough* *Laquon Treadwell* *cough*
November 18th, 2021 at 3:05 PM ^
I assume both will be in the west, but on the bright side they may move Bama and Auburn to the east
November 18th, 2021 at 3:29 PM ^
I'll honestly be surprised if they put Texas with A&M.
November 18th, 2021 at 2:12 PM ^
This isn't news. It's Kiffin's agent using the media to get him an even bigger paycheck than he already gets.
November 18th, 2021 at 2:15 PM ^
Why is this surprising? I mean the dude decided to "upgrade" from Layla a while back so my guess is he'll try and always upgrade no matter how good the current situation seems to outsiders.
November 18th, 2021 at 3:03 PM ^
Prediction 1: Kiffin angrily denies any interest in Miami job, blames rumors on SEC opponents trying to sabotage both Ole Miss recruiting and his team's preparation for the Egg Bowl.
Prediction 2: Lane Kiffin announced as new Miami HC the day after the Egg Bowl.
November 18th, 2021 at 3:32 PM ^
Prediction 1: Swap "Miami job" (and cut out the Ole Miss/Egg Bowl stuff) for "Nick Saban's Daughter" and you got yourself a winner chicken dinner there!
Although as far as Prediction 2 goes, Kiffin (as far as I know) was never named HC of Nick Saban's Daughter. However, the rumors were confirmed and he eventually got a divorce.
November 18th, 2021 at 10:19 PM ^
This is how you do it. Mel Tucker is about to make Billions by doing just this, except he had no bowl game or any of that fluff, he just had the lives of young men and their families to string along for funsies

Wait, his ex-wife's name was Layla? Lane and Layla Kiffen? Reminds me of Rich and Rita Rodriguez...

TBH i would stay clear of all the florida jobs. Something about that state is cursed. It shouldnt be that difficult to win at UF FSU or UM but for some reason its been difficult to get to consistently make a bowl game let alone compete for a naty
