Everyone who watched that game saw that it was a refshow. This is justice.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:39 PM ^
The entire announcement of the top 25 centered around the placement of Michigan and Michigan state before, during, and after all of the rankings were revealed. And I still get people taking shots at me saying that Michigan isn’t relevant! (granted the people taking shots at my team are very insecure IU and Purdue fans)
November 9th, 2021 at 9:51 PM ^
It was remarkable how the top four was an afterthought - all the drama was about which school from Michigan would be #6. The rest of the country must be confused.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:40 PM ^
Joey Galloway said the right thing, it didn't feel like Michigan St was the better team.
November 10th, 2021 at 6:39 AM ^
What sort of bizarro alternate universe have we fallen into where Joey Galloway said something insightful AND it was about Michigan. Truly the strangest timeline
November 9th, 2021 at 9:33 PM ^
Pollack bitching and whining about this is hilarious!
November 9th, 2021 at 9:34 PM ^
He’s a clown ?, like most of ESPN so called experts.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
I've never heard anyone call the talking heads on ESPN "experts" except the people who want to throw shade at ESPN. It's the strangest thing.
Literally no one in their right mind considers these guys experts, they're just former players with jobs.
You all sound like me when I was 7 and thought to be the President, you had to be the smartest person in the country. That's just not how it works.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:35 PM ^
Anybody whining about who's #6 is pathetic. Then again, it's ESPN and they still employ Joey Galloway.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
Who was arguing for Michigan to be #6.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
he's still a tool
November 9th, 2021 at 9:46 PM ^
Not arguing that. Just stating that he was arguing FOR Michigan.
Both can be true.
November 10th, 2021 at 12:37 AM ^
Sorry, you are not a tool (at the time) if you argue FOR Michigan. But then if you argue AGAINST Michigan at a different time, then you once again become a tool.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
Double post - go blue!
November 9th, 2021 at 9:39 PM ^
Who happened to be in our corner in that debate ?
November 9th, 2021 at 11:26 PM ^
Man, I'll take Galloway rooting for Sparty if it meant he was banished to ESPN Classic.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
Davis seemed to agree with him too. Joey G - Nice to see an OSU guy pushing UM.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
Pollack is a douche. He and Reece Davis have always had an anti-Michigan bias
November 9th, 2021 at 9:41 PM ^
Rece isn't anti-Michigan at all. He's just pro-SEC (he's open about his alma mater, Bama).
Pollack is just a meathead type, just because you don't agree, doesn't mean he's a douche.
FACTS, if Michigan beat MSU and was behind them, this board would be going nuts.
Also FACTS, former LB types, are always going to have the "head-to-head" take. This board loves Chris Spielman, he would've said the EXACT same thing. It's just how those guys are built.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:46 PM ^
i generally like davis. the rest of that panel is full of douches.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:47 PM ^
FACTS, if Michigan beat MSU and was behind them, this board would be going nuts.
Nah, most would be still mad about losing to an unranked team by double digits the previous Saturday.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:48 PM ^
Huh?
If Michigan beat MSU we would be undefeated and easily be #2. FACTS.
Carry on..
November 9th, 2021 at 9:53 PM ^
I actually had no idea Rece went to Bama. He’s the least homer out of the entire Gameday crew of Herbie, Desmond, and Pollack (which he should be as the host).
November 9th, 2021 at 11:22 PM ^
Pollack is a douche and it’s not because he’s arguing against UM
November 10th, 2021 at 12:36 AM ^
If we lost to Maryland after beating MSU I can see being behind MSU. Strange how that Stanford loss isnt putting Oregon behind several teams. That is by far the worst loss of any top team. Can we please play OSU game 1 from now on and make it a new tradition?
November 9th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
I'm not a big fan of Pollack, but Davis is usually OK to us. He actually used to be a sports anchor in Flint.
November 9th, 2021 at 10:13 PM ^
Herbie claiming it does not matter where Michigan or MSU are ranked as both will be “sorted out”.
November 9th, 2021 at 10:55 PM ^
He's right. When MSU loses to Ohio State and maybe/probably Penn State, they'll have nothing to whine about
November 9th, 2021 at 11:16 PM ^
The thing is, it may not be sorted out. I know it’s a long shot, but if Michigan and Michigan State win their last 3 games, it may come into play. But I guess at that point, MSU gets the nod to play in the Big 10 championship game. Long shot, I know, but it is possible both win out.
November 10th, 2021 at 7:50 AM ^
If Michigan and MSU both win out MSU is the #3 seed and Michigan is the #4 seed in the CFP. It is interesting that this reality is sliding under the radar.
The committee has, justifiably, built in protections/space to maneuver around the many different scenarios that will likely develop over the next month. The biggest question for them is what to do if Georgia beats Alabama-do they really drop Alabama to #5???...I think most likely all the way to an inconsequential #3 :(
This committee is not comprised of a bunch of dummies. Not only do they know football but they know how to work the system-because they are the system.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:40 PM ^
Pollack's always had it out for Michigan. He hates them, and it shows. Did Pollack lose to UM at some point in his college careeer?
November 9th, 2021 at 9:42 PM ^
We haven't played Georgia since 1965.
November 9th, 2021 at 11:31 PM ^
Pollack just sucks, generally. 15 years of blather and SEC cheerleading. I don't think he's ever said anything insightful
November 9th, 2021 at 10:46 PM ^
His argument was because Michigan State won the matchup a week and half ago. But then why isn’t he complaining about Purdue being ranked well below Michigan State when Purdue beat then just three days ago?
November 9th, 2021 at 11:41 PM ^
Imagine lacking the critical thinking skill to realize its logically consistent to argue head to head should be a tie breaker between two similar resumes but not an end all point. So comparing a team with three losses to the team they are the only loss for is a different situation than comparing teams with the same number of losses against a similar strength of schedule
November 10th, 2021 at 12:17 AM ^
According to this system, if hypothetically Michigan had lost to Northwestern 49-0 then beat MSU 10-9, and the game was at home, with some clutch bad calls in their favor, they should still be ranked ahead of MSU?
The "same number of losses + head-to-head" is just too simplistic -- though I get that casual fans are used to the AP ranking teams with that heuristic. But schedules and performances can vary greatly and give us a lot of information beyond those two data points.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:34 PM ^
Imagine ranking Luke Fickell ahead of Michigan in anything
November 9th, 2021 at 9:41 PM ^
GO SMU!!
November 9th, 2021 at 9:35 PM ^
Wtf is up with Pollack? Dude is having a tantrum about us jumping Sparty. “Purdue is ranked now!” Yeah dude but they were a 5-3 team that never trailed to MSU and the committee knows Michigan is a better team.
The committee’s job is to find the best 4 teams.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:38 PM ^
The bitching was incredible, especially when Galloway of all people, ask him if he actually felt like MSU was better in that game. Ranking doesn't really mean shit since we all know it's about winning out and blowing up the Death Star, but still funny to see him get so upset.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:40 PM ^
If you don't want to drop in polls MSU, don't lose to an unranked team just because you prep 365 days a year to beat Michigan, and still go 9-4.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
Tantrum is the perfect word for that display. He was pouting, on the verge of hysterics. It was everything I expected to happen and it was incredible!
November 9th, 2021 at 9:46 PM ^
And now Trevor Matich who hasn’t found a donut he doesn’t like or a piece of exercise equipment he does like in the past 20 years is even worse in his ill-fitted suit
November 9th, 2021 at 9:50 PM ^
I turned it off but there was more???
November 10th, 2021 at 6:37 AM ^
The only thing I was able to watch last night was Matich look completely bumfuzzled during halftime of the EMU game. It became obvious to me that he did not watch the Mich/Msu game. And yes, it might serve him well to mix in a salad every now and then.
November 9th, 2021 at 9:49 PM ^
he literally said that it doesn't matter what he thinks about the um-msu game. wtf? i'm sure that is exactly what they were debating in the war room. that said, i think it's hilarious how meaningless this is. herbstreit actually is right about that.
November 9th, 2021 at 10:06 PM ^
Does no one really get these guys are all paid to get ratings and thus gets money? The Michigan MSU thing was really the only issue for this show, so they argued about it. Pollock just took one way, Galloway the other and they argue. Same exact thing every other ESPN show is. Take everything they say with a grain of salt. It’s all to create argument, click, ratings.
November 9th, 2021 at 10:17 PM ^
Very good point. Same network that pays Stephen A Smith 10 million dollars to do the exact thing every day
November 9th, 2021 at 10:29 PM ^
Yep. Next week they will find some other "controversy" and then bleat on for hours on end about that.
My prediction as to that "controversy?" Oklahoma beats Baylor and jumps all the way to #4, because they now finally have a quality victory on their resume, on the road no less.
The week after that, it'll once again be something else (perhaps OSU jumping Oregon once they have a win over MSU on their resume).
Et cetera until the end.
