I kinda hope Frost succeeds?
Scott Frost has a punchable face. He's made a lot of arrogant comments. Having said that, he's the kind of guy I like to hate. He doesn't have any scandals (knock on wood). As far as I know, he hasn't hired any assistants who were embroiled in horrific sexual assault scandals like some schools have. I think the conference, and especially the West division, would be a lot more interesting with a good Nebraska squad. They're never going to be a death star like OSU. They'll always be beatable by a good Michigan team. Wisconsin is a good program of course, but they're not so good that they should be a shoe-in for division champs most years (though maybe taking a step back with Chryst). That's basically where I would like to see them, at a Wisconsin level of success. Nebraska has a lot of history and from what everyone seems to say, they're generally nicer than most fanbases. Who knows what will happen, but it would be really cool if, say, Ferentz retires and Iowa hires Bielema (alum with a Hawkeye tattoo) and Iowa-Nebraska turns into a real rivalry. The only thing that gives me pause about this is Nebraska has rotated onto our schedule for the next few years through 2025, but oh well.
Side note: I forgot we play at Texas in 2024. Xavier Worthy would be a senior. Having said that, there's a good chance he'll be in the draft before his senior year :/

Oops, too late. Cyan penalty assessed.

I sure as shit don't.

I think that we administered the resounding dong punch that Scott Frost and NB deserved, going back a ways (NC, UCF, frontier Olympics mothering styles). But some of the stuff got a little ugly here last night--it's good to back off and remember, it's a game. I saw a lot of our players engaged in sincere conversation with the NB players after the game and liked that. Good to be graceful in victory; you may need friends later.
As hard as last night's loss was for him, I'd say that Frost probably did his job tenure no harm. He's showing how NB can win, even if he's not quite pulling it off yet. Martinez seems like a fine young man, too.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:21 AM ^
Yeah. I gained a ton of respect for Martinez last night. But Frost has always rubbed me the wrong way.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:46 AM ^
Martinez is talented, but even the NE papers, much as they love the guy, concede he is error-prone.
Frost seems to be on the right track with their program. I think they'll keep him barring a major collapse.
October 10th, 2021 at 1:02 PM ^
Apparently we're not alone...
October 10th, 2021 at 10:43 AM ^
The New Brunswick Bugeaters.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:50 AM ^
Aaaahhhh, that makes sense....
October 10th, 2021 at 1:14 PM ^
True fact ---- Nebraska's postal code was NB from 1963 to 1969. They changed it to NE then to avoid confusion with New Brunswick.
October 10th, 2021 at 1:28 PM ^
1969....nice!
October 10th, 2021 at 7:51 PM ^
I was born in 56, so it's possible I had to memorize those before it was changed, which. . . I always wondered why all my letters to that woman never drew replies.
October 10th, 2021 at 3:45 PM ^
I'm perfectly willing to root for success for Nebraska. But Scott Frost and Scott Frost's Mom can go bugger themselves. And if I can't have one without the other, well, sorry Nebraska.
I wish success for Scott Frost about as much as for Urban Meyer.
October 10th, 2021 at 7:04 AM ^
Nebraska will never be what they were. It's tough to recruit there but my eyes tell me that they are a much better football team now than they were the last several years. Still figuring out ways to lose games, but they are close to turning that corner. I think they need to keep Frost and his punchable face.
October 10th, 2021 at 9:48 AM ^
"Never" is a too strong here. I do tend to agree with you about their recruiting challenges, but Nebraska does have an advantage with a B1G West schedule. I think they can be the best team in the B1G West on a regular basis, and winning more games could lead to better recruiting.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:40 AM ^
They are doing something out there that Wisconsin and Iowa are not (actually playing exciting offense) so if that can translate to better skill position recruiting they have a chance to start swinging things their way. B1G West is ripe for the plucking.
October 10th, 2021 at 7:05 AM ^
Your points are definitely interesting especially the part about making Wisconsin’s life more difficult; far too long have they had it made over there in the West though Iowa has their year every so often. As far as Nebraska being good next year and beyond I am not so sure. QBs as dynamic as Adrian Martinez are not easy to find and I do not believe Nebraska has recruited very well as of late. A lot of their contributors are seniors and super seniors. Could be in for a rebuild with just average talent waiting in the wings.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:25 AM ^
Did I see correctly on a graphic last night that Martinez is only a Junior? Seems like he's been there for six years... So it correct, he may not be gone after this year.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:37 AM ^
Probably thinking of a different Martinez.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:59 AM ^
This is his fourth year as a starter, but because of the Covid rule, he gets a fifth next year, if he wants. That's wild.
October 10th, 2021 at 1:36 PM ^
I wouldn't be surprised to see him again next year. Nebraska has a bunch of COVID 6th-year guys on defense this year.
October 10th, 2021 at 7:07 AM ^
I agree with your sentiment. I remember vividly the 1997 National Championship season. And, since then I have had a special disgust for Scott Frost and Nebraska. However, I like to have a character like Frost that actually means something to the history of the Big10 and to Nebraska and Michigan at the helm rather than some no name. Nebraska is a good team and they will likely have a big upset before the season is done. They are a few key plays away from a good record and this was a good win for us in Lincoln.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:07 AM ^
Those ABC clowns, McDonaugh and Blackledge kept making a big issue on Nebraska sharing the title with Michigan. That, in front of a national audience. Made me puke.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:29 AM ^
Of course it's a story line worthy of bringing up. And they did show the kicked ball play which is a big reason NE should have not gotten the vote. That and the head to head against Colorado I believe.
I thought it was fair.
October 10th, 2021 at 1:46 PM ^
I don’t know if it’s still true, or ever was, but I remember hearing that the 1997 Michigan team is the only team to be ranked #1 going into their bowl game, won, and dropped in the rankings. I will always hate Nebraska for the way they groveled for that vote, Frost and Osborn in particular. That being said, I think it’s better for college football, the Big Ten, and Michigan if Nebraska is a top 25 team. Also I have to admit, I like that he is an alum coaching his school, when he could have gone to better jobs when he was the hot commodity in coaching circles. I wish them just enough success that it looks good when Michigan beats them 80% of the time they play.
October 10th, 2021 at 2:44 PM ^
I guess they felt it was relevant because Frost played on the ‘97 team.
So why not mention when we beat them and Coach Osborne in the ‘86 Fiesta Bowl? Harbaugh played in that game
October 11th, 2021 at 9:09 AM ^
And finished #2 in the nation, Bo's highest post-season ranking ever.
October 10th, 2021 at 7:08 AM ^
I don’t know if you will get your wish or not, but there are a lot of people on Nebraska boards calling for Frost’s head on a platter now.
October 10th, 2021 at 8:01 AM ^
And it will be a mistake on their part. They need a game manager QB.
October 10th, 2021 at 9:19 AM ^
If they had a game manager at QB they would have zero offense. Martinez is the reason that team is remotely competitive.
October 10th, 2021 at 9:23 AM ^
I understand the turnovers are costing them, but it's not like they have had shutdown defenses to allow to them to win with a "game manager" at QB throughout the season. And I doubt this game would have been as close if they had a boring quarterback.
October 10th, 2021 at 9:53 AM ^
He's 5-16 in one-score games at Nebraska. He's terrible - an OC masquerading as a HC. His game management is consistently bad, like when he passed up 3 sure points at the beginning of the game . . . which they ended up losing by 3. Or when he called a deep ball on 4th down at the end of the game.
If they had a game manager QB they'd be even worse. Martinez bails them out continually with his improvisation. Put a statuesque QB back there and our pass rush would have eaten him alive.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:15 AM ^
If Frost had developed a running game, instead of leaving the world on Adrian Martinez's shoulders, he might not be feeling the heat today. But maybe I expect more from him than he is capable of.
October 10th, 2021 at 7:12 AM ^
I don't like the dude worth a damn, but their offensive play calling, particularly in the third quarter, was really top notch. All three of their TD's in the third came off of really imaginative and/or smart play calls.
October 10th, 2021 at 9:30 AM ^
The Falck TD, especially, had me thinking we should steal that play.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:38 AM ^
Right? That was an awesome play that Michigan's TE's can pull off quite well.
I also liked our own twist with the TE, where he would fake block and then head out into a WIDE OPEN middle area for an easy completion that went for >10. It was used 3 times, for three first downs on easy completions in big situations. I love that new play!
October 10th, 2021 at 7:31 AM ^
To quote Aristotle
"Fuck Scott Frost"
October 10th, 2021 at 7:31 AM ^
Punchable faces are way under rated. I used to want to pump Tressel in the face, but he was sort of old and gangly. Scott Frost could take the punch and would then level me.
I like the hometown or MAC coach pipeline and I never thought I would say this, but i agree and want Scott Frost to stay.
If any of this is illegible i blame overtaking ads. I honestly can't proof a post that looks like this while i type it.

Apparently coffee and games. I happen to be in Croatia at the moment, so that's playing into it.
October 10th, 2021 at 8:07 AM ^
Thats really cool, I've always dreamed of traveling to Eastern Europe.
October 10th, 2021 at 8:10 AM ^
Highly advise it.
October 10th, 2021 at 12:29 PM ^
Croatia is Central Europe. It’s a narrow jump across the Adriatic from Italy. It’s due south of Austria (hardly “Eastern” Europe) and west of Greece.
The Cold War line was a political boundary, not geographic.
Croatia is an incredible country to visit. The Adriatic coastline is beautiful with lots of history, tremendous natural beauty, but be forewarned, mediocre food overall.
Zlotny Rot is considered one of Europe’s finest beaches (I agree), Brac is incredibly charming, Diocletian’s palace in Split is one of the very best preserved Roman ruins, and Dubrovnik is breathtaking. That’s just a start.
October 10th, 2021 at 10:42 AM ^
If I can ask (and you can answer) - why/what are you doing in Croatia? It's a Russian state that Putin forcibly took over. I know its a great resort type area, and that some US businesses have interests there, so I'm just curious. No need to answer if you don't want to (obviously)...
October 10th, 2021 at 12:02 PM ^
Not OP but Croatia is not a Russian state.
Are you thinking of Crimea?
October 10th, 2021 at 1:02 PM ^
Haha, gotta love the internet. Dude that doesnt know Croatia from Crimea is trying to educate the OP. ???
October 11th, 2021 at 9:38 AM ^
Son of a... Yes, I had Crimea on my mind. Dammit!
Correctly called out!
October 10th, 2021 at 2:27 PM ^
why/what are you doing in Croatia? It's a Russian state that Putin forcibly took over.
Wait, what? Take another look at the map, man...
October 10th, 2021 at 2:35 PM ^
HotelPutingrad sent me here with some very specific but classified instructions. Something about an error in claiming the wrong state in the name of mother Russia and his confounding dyslexia that only confuses sounds after the letter C. He then used a bunch of C-words that I would rather not repeat.
He never mentioned Crimea, but did say that Croatia is as Oregon named poster says (beautiful landscape, ok food).
