META: New: (New) and (New).
Been hard to keep this under wraps until we were ready to release it but it's ready to go! Somewhere along the way we changed bright red to Hill Red, which is a color on UM's palette that I guess is like Mosher-Jordan. Anyway: NEW!!!

Hillary Appreciation Thread.
commence.
Seriously. Since she's come on we've been getting so many boxes checked off.
This feature disappearing was one of the things I hated the most about the (last) site update, so I good job Human Element!
It's all new!!
How long does it stay new?
Until it's not new. And we put a timer of a few weeks on it I think.

When is now? Just then???

When you say it's gonna happen now
When exactly do you mean?
I am human element and I need to be loved
What am I doing here?
I wish I new.
They (new) getting (new) paid (new) money (new) for (new) this?
I don’t want to sound like an ingrate. But why am I grateful for this?
You’re not. Don’t know why anyone would be. Basically, everything will say “new” for “a few weeks”. Most people check the site daily if not more often so it’s utterly useless.

Au contraire. When you refresh the page, only the posts you haven't seen show up as "new." That's very helpful, especially if you visit the site often.

Indeed. And if you click your name to see your activity, you can see how many new posts there are in the threads you're active in.
https://www.mgoblog.com/users/el-jeffe/activity
If you haven't been to that post it just calls the post new. So if you were active in a couple of threads last night and want to pick up where you were after people have responded, you can take that (new) link directly to the new responses.
We also made them direct first to a reply to you instead of just a new comment. So if you're having a conversation in that thread and someone replied to you, it will skip the rest of the thread and take you there.
Will this still work if the comment is not on the first page? Previously, if you clicked on a comment's permalink (from a user's dashboard, for example) and it was on the second (or third, fourth, etc.) page, you'd just get sent to the first page.
If you haven't seen the comment yet it's not supposed to un-(new) it.
NEW!!!!!!!!!!!!
There's a real NEW club on the other side of town where the real NEW kids like to sit around and talk bad about the other kids
It's a real NEW club and you're not part of it

I'm so excited!

My OCD wants to be able to mark things as read without clicking into everything. Is this possible?
Otherwise awesome stuff, thanks Seth.
Nope. Just open a lot of tabs then close the window.

So many "new" things to check out. I thought I saw many of them before. But I am wrong because Internet is always right.
thumbs up!
am i the only one that doesn't know what the hell this means?
Unless it’s already not working, I don’t get it either. Everything says new and if there’s timer of a few weeks then we’ll have 9 pages of “new” content.
It means those of us with borderline OCD/anal retentive tendencies are now going to have to click and scroll through every thread to clear the "new" flag.
Oh... it also means "THE JUMP" (which is facilitated by an anchor and has been a thing since at least 1995) still doesn't work because this is what they were working on.
This....the struggle is real. Its like the recent update to Apple Podcasts app.
Really guys? This was the site for years. If you read the thread the (new) goes away. It was one of my personal favorite features on the site that took a lot to rebuild.
Side note: (new) isn't (new) until you log into your account. For lurkers, nothing is (new). I do like the (new) but it'll take some adjusting to discern new (new) from already read (new).
EDIT: and just like that I see old (new) is no longer (new). Only new (new) is new.
