OT (Maybe?) Momma Mayfields tweet about the coaching staff.
My first post on here, sorry if the title is incorrect or misleading, Jalen Mayfields’ mom says the coaching staff set Joe Milton up for failure.

Edit: I meant to put his mom in the title and I can’t edit it, Sorry.

Look, Joe Milton set HIMSELF up for failure by playing quarterback. Period! Accuracy cannot be taught. The coaches didn’t help him by putting him on the field.
Should he be playing tight end? We don’t know if he can catch or block!
November 29th, 2020 at 9:30 PM ^
He’s afraid of contact against DB’s half his size. I doubt he’d cut it as a TE
November 30th, 2020 at 6:57 PM ^
Scott Mitchell ran harder
November 29th, 2020 at 6:45 PM ^
Yea not a good look. Hate when parents or former players come out and talk shit. This says more about her than the coaches. If she and/or Jalen felt that way then maybe they shouldn’t have opted back in. Sour grapes at this point...
November 29th, 2020 at 6:47 PM ^
It also affirms that players have turned on the staff.
November 29th, 2020 at 6:59 PM ^
Usually, players and parents are pretty loyal to the coaching staff, in this case it is very telling that they have turned on Harbaugh. All the Harbaugh loyalists will label her a bad parent, but ask yourself, what causes this loss of loyalty by the players' parents??? You may not like the answer!
November 29th, 2020 at 7:06 PM ^
I wouldn't call her a bad parent. But, generally the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. And, while I know nothing about Jalen, he was ready to give up and move pretty quickly himself. He never seemed invested for what would have seemed to a supportive staff to him. He's played early and has been developed pretty well and is getting top draft projections without having done anything special on the field. He seems like he got quite a bit support and development, yet didn't seem to show a lot of love or loyalty to the team.
November 29th, 2020 at 7:22 PM ^
didn't he opt back in once the B1G reversed their decision to play football?
As a projected 1st rounder, opting back in shows quite a bit of love and loyalty to your team imo...he could have stayed out like Thomas and Nico, but he didn't
November 29th, 2020 at 8:05 PM ^
He won’t be a first rounder
November 29th, 2020 at 8:41 PM ^
Neither is Ambry. And if we're being honest, Nico probably isn't, either. Lets face it, for whatever reason Nico doesn't have much in the way of stats...
November 29th, 2020 at 8:50 PM ^
didn't he opt back in once the B1G reversed their decision to play football?
He was quick to opt out and longer to opt back in. His first instinct was the jet. Then after his injury he was rumored to be done with UM regardless of health. I again don't know if any of this is true, but he's ready to bolt at the first sign of discomfort. It's not like it would be unheard of for a guy to come back for his 4th year. I mean he still has two years of eligibility left. Lewan and Long came back for their senior years after being much more successful their previous years than Mayfield...they were already All Americans and came back to play for some mediocre teams. It's not like at OSU where they expected to be in the running for a NC.
As a projected 1st rounder, opting back in shows quite a bit of love and loyalty to your team imo
He's a one-year starter and wasn't even on any of the all conference lists. He has a lot he can still develop. He's bolting at the first opportunity.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:14 PM ^
he was quick to opt out because there was no football. Based on the draft projections, he was looking like a first rounder; whether that remains the case, we'll see.
As for bolting at the first opportunity, I don't blame a kid if he has a first round grade...Kids leave for any number of reasons, including family financial situations...
Making judgements about 'loyalty' seem, to me, a bit of stretch if you don't actually know someone.
JMHO

Mayfields position coach has a proven track record for developing his guys to play on Sunday. I can’t say I’ve never spoke out against a coach, but I can say I’ve never done it to a D1 program. Sometimes smashing that keyboard isn’t a bad thing.
November 29th, 2020 at 7:10 PM ^
Are you really blaming the parents when this kind of thing has happened multiple times already? Enough is enough.
November 29th, 2020 at 7:16 PM ^
Some of the kids may have been less willing to pack up and leave at the first opportunity if we were ever playing for championships. Since we don’t it makes sense. Nico probably didn’t want to come back for 4 wild targets a game.
November 29th, 2020 at 7:34 PM ^
Why target our 1st round receiver when we can throw a endzone fade to Jake fucking McCurry?
November 30th, 2020 at 1:08 AM ^
Because the opponent won't expect it! Going completely against the grain and outsmarting the ... oneself?
November 30th, 2020 at 8:27 AM ^
I felt he made the right decision during the minnesota game when Milton would routinely lay out the Wr's to get leveled going across the middle.
Poor Ronnie Bell got stuck quite a bit in that game IIRC.
November 29th, 2020 at 7:22 PM ^
I personally won’t blame the mom, but who’s to say the coaches new cade would come back? Who’s to say Haskins wasn’t gassed? My honest opinion here she’s jumping on the top of the pile
November 29th, 2020 at 10:03 PM ^
Gassed really? He didn't even have 20 fucking carries man..
Last week he carried it for 25+, but he's gassed after 17 against penn state?
This staff is full of fucking morons on the offensive side of the ball and we have seen it over and over again.
November 29th, 2020 at 7:24 PM ^
So Harbaugh has now pissed off the Bushes, miffed Denard Robinson, Mayfields and Higdon’s family but it’s all on the parents?
lol
November 29th, 2020 at 7:29 PM ^
Denard???
November 29th, 2020 at 7:36 PM ^
Apparently Denard was in town for the Notre Dame game, and wanted to spend some time with the team in the locker room beforehand. He was basically told thanks, but no thanks by the coaching staff and ended up tailgating with some former friends.
Denard did not make a big deal about it, but clearly it bothered him according to some of the former players that knew him and were there. Some of the former players were rubbed the wrong way that Denard was not invited to meet with the team before the game.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:49 PM ^
If true, fuck this coaching staff.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:03 PM ^
Yeah lets stonewall Denard... the most decorated Michigan player ESPECIALLY AGAINST ND over the last 15 years from giving a pep talk prior to ... ND!?!?
Nothing makes sense man.
November 29th, 2020 at 10:18 PM ^
First I've heard of this but it sounds believable the way Harbaugh seems to turn off A LOT of people. Haven't heard about the Bushes or the others mentioned.

Why do I get the feeling Mrs. mayfield was one of those delightful parents everyone always talked about at her children’s youth sporting events.
November 30th, 2020 at 10:34 AM ^
You misspelled McCaffrey
November 30th, 2020 at 11:24 AM ^
Whatever happened with the Bush's? I know Bush Sr. went to Ole Miss with Partridge and is now the Recruiting Coordinator there. I was always surprised he wasn't promoted to be the safeties coach.
November 29th, 2020 at 6:47 PM ^
I would be embarrassed, if I was Jalen Mayfield.
November 29th, 2020 at 7:01 PM ^
I would be embarrassed, if I was Jim Harbaugh, Warde Mauel, President Schlissel, U of M Board of Trustees, Michigan Alumni and Fans.
November 29th, 2020 at 7:06 PM ^
So, are you embarrassed, or just an embarrassment? I guess maybe you're at least a fan, so embarrassed?
November 29th, 2020 at 8:32 PM ^
He is an outstanding young man. He has zero to be embarrassed about. Tell us your name, age and occupation and allow us to ascertain the level of embarrassment you should have.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:13 PM ^
He doesn’t need to control what his mom says. It’s the coaches and players that should be embarrassed for the shitty football they’ve been playing.
November 29th, 2020 at 9:25 PM ^
Who are you and exactly what have you done that's so damn important?
November 29th, 2020 at 6:47 PM ^
Dissension in the program seems likely.
Could make an argument that she's right about Milton.
November 29th, 2020 at 7:16 PM ^
I'm willing to listen to the reasoning but I don't really see how a coach is going to get Milton to not overthrow a receiver by 5 yards and then follow it up with skipping a pass five yards in front of the next receiver.
Joe Milton's problems are almost entirely related to his accuracy. Far to often he doesn't even give his receivers a chance to make a play.
November 29th, 2020 at 10:09 PM ^
It’s as clear as day that they call a much different game plan when Milton is vs McNamara. Even with this inept coaching staff I would have to assume it’s the inability of him to excuse the RPOs or other plays they run with Cade rather than sandbagging him.
November 29th, 2020 at 8:12 PM ^
Please make that argument. He's been given more than enough opportunities to seize the job, and has been inconsistent and unsure of himself. Maybe that's why he was annointed, the players love him. To bad they play better for Cade.
November 30th, 2020 at 2:16 AM ^
After the MN game the only way Milton would be a good QB is if we had taco pants on our team.
November 29th, 2020 at 6:49 PM ^
Pretty vague comment.
November 29th, 2020 at 7:08 PM ^
Gotta love social media...giving people a platform and making their commentary seem valuable when it is not and they don't deserve such a platform. I'm just going to pretend I never heard what Jalen Mayfield's mom thinks and not use Twitter :)
November 29th, 2020 at 8:15 PM ^
Agree. From what we’ve seen, Harbaugh did Milton a huge favor by starting him at qb when it’s obvious he wouldn’t start at any big ten school otherwise. Although he did him a disservice by not converting him to TE or WR a long time ago. So who knows. Couldn’t care less what mayfields mom thinks tho. Her son should have spent more time on the field protecting his blindside.
November 29th, 2020 at 10:29 PM ^
No it's not. You can see the tweet above it. Haskins was in the whole game and then when Milton came in, Haskins didn't. I noticed it too when it happened and thought the same thing actually.
November 29th, 2020 at 6:51 PM ^
When potential first round draft picks mom is tweeting shit about the coaching staff, you know the culture is in shambles
November 29th, 2020 at 6:52 PM ^
Yeah that’s not a good look at all.
November 29th, 2020 at 6:59 PM ^
Or she needs to shut the fuck up
November 29th, 2020 at 7:02 PM ^
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please feel free to tweet back at her and give her a piece of your mind!!!!!!
