MSU @ MD canceled
November 19th, 2020 at 9:43 AM ^
15 games canceled/ppd this week so far.
Anyone giving odds of what the final tally will be for the week?
November 19th, 2020 at 9:48 AM ^
Because the football gods hate us, I’m fully expecting every single game on Dec.12 to be cancelled except for UM/OSU so that the undivided attention of the nation can be focused on the boat racing that awaits us at the hands of the Buckeyes.
It would be a fitting conclusion to 2020.

Sometimes you have to crawl through 500 yards of shit smelling foulness to come out clean on the other side.
November 19th, 2020 at 9:54 AM ^
Except, when it comes to OSU, we’ve already crawled through something like 10000 yards of shit only to discover they just installed 10000 yards of new pipe for us to have to deal with.
November 19th, 2020 at 11:28 AM ^
And cousin Eddie just keeps dumping more and more shit into the pipes
November 19th, 2020 at 9:52 AM ^
Yeah, poor Michigan- can't catch a break.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:39 AM ^
We all know this is how it will go. Dozens of games will be cancelled. Heck, we might even go into the OSU game with like 20 players in covid protocol too and then Ryan Day can hang 100 on us like he wants
November 19th, 2020 at 3:07 PM ^
I think OSU could hang 100 with our entire squad healthy at the level they're playing.

November 19th, 2020 at 10:49 AM ^
I think a more fitting conclusion to this season will be losing to Rutgers 38 to 13 having every game cancelled then being curb stomped by OSU... That would sum up 2020.
November 19th, 2020 at 9:54 AM ^
I'll say 24 - the opposite of 42...
There has to be some symmetry in the meaning of life, right?
November 19th, 2020 at 10:07 AM ^
Why can't we have nice things like MSU?
November 19th, 2020 at 12:03 PM ^
More than 15.
November 19th, 2020 at 12:39 PM ^
We are barreling towards the rest of the season being cancelled. The way it’s going for UM that might be the best possible outcome

Surprised PSU has not had an outbreak given the timing of their game with Maryland and that outbreak.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:13 AM ^
To be honest, I'm not.
It seems--by far--the reason teams have COVID outbreaks is b/c they get together, in groups, for long periods of time talking & yelling (e.g., sitting on sideline benches; gathering in meeting rooms & their apartments; standing in close proximity at practice going over plays w your position groups; eating team meals close together).
I'm sure there has been some COVID transmission, due to play, from one team to another, but it seems the playing of the game itself on the field is not the particularly risky COVID part -- it's all the preparations necessary for the game, both before & during.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:22 AM ^
"... it's all the preparations necessary for the game, both before & during."
This might explain why Michigan hasn't had an outbreak...

Post Of The Week my friend!
November 19th, 2020 at 2:55 PM ^
You officially win the internet for today. Great response, painfully sad but true.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:33 AM ^
Where are you sourcing your information that the outbreaks are based on football specific activities (such as sitting on sideline benches)?
Haven't they traced most if not all outbreaks to NON-FOOTBALL related activities (e.g. bars)?
November 19th, 2020 at 11:19 AM ^
Logic.
At this point, it's extremely clear the main way COVID is transmitted -- not through touching of surfaces (though that can happen in rare circumstances) but through the air where people are in close contact for more than 15 minutes of time in a day.
If a player sat a bench, talking / laughing / yelling to another person sitting right next to them for a good portion of a 3-4 hour game, why wouldn't COVID be transmitted? Or if you're in a meeting room with someone for hours?
Sure, if they perform proper protocols (e.g., masks, distancing, ventilation) that can greatly improve things, but you really need to do it all (e.g., being outside doesn't matter much if you're right next to someone for a long time yakking).
Maybe these Maryland players originally picked it up at a bar, but there's a reason, for example, Texas Tech had 75 players catch COVID over the summer; they were all together, every day, practicing or discussing football.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:34 AM ^
I don't think there are any cases --- even at the High School level --- where an outbreak on one team occurred immediately following a game with a team that was experiencing an outbreak.
The games themselves are, from a fairly objective POV, not super-spreader events.
November 19th, 2020 at 9:56 AM ^
Even though the game has been cancelled, the MSU defense will still find a way to give up 42 points.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:05 AM ^
Need to be honest here. If there was a year to not talk shit about MSU, this would be the year.
As bad as they are, they ran one play 90 times against our wonderful coaches and they couldn't adjust.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:14 AM ^
Old habits die hard.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:31 AM ^
I could think of 3-9 old habits that die hard.
November 19th, 2020 at 11:22 AM ^
Well the way this season is looking, we all might develop 1-8 new habits of our own
November 19th, 2020 at 10:04 AM ^
It's laughable at this point folks. Conferences just hanging on for dear life and seeing what games they can get in.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:09 AM ^
So true. And when one is doing something wrong and dangerous for money, what does that make you?
November 19th, 2020 at 10:20 AM ^
Pretty much what I was going to post and well said and it's going to get nothing but worse. Everywhere is just being eaten up with this yet foosball.....
November 19th, 2020 at 10:25 AM ^
Damn. I was going to thoroughly enjoy this game, too!
November 19th, 2020 at 10:31 AM ^
Just cancel the fuckin season already for gods sake. We suck. 2020 sucks. Shut it down, give the Natty to OSU cause... why not? and call it a year. Wake me up in the spring.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:35 AM ^
I wonder what the overlap is between those yelling earlier that administrations should let Big Ten teams play and those now saying that playing is all the fault of greedy administrations?
November 19th, 2020 at 10:52 AM ^
Zero.
The same people who didn't want them to play before are now pointing and shouting "See we shouldn't have played". Not surprised.
You know, we could be having this coaching meltdown in a full season next year.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:47 AM ^
48 games are a go and 15 are cancelled this week. That's better than Harbaugh's win-loss rate. That ain't good either.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:49 AM ^
Ok, that comment made Chuckie chuckle.
November 19th, 2020 at 10:54 AM ^
I’m sure they will be ready to play us. I’m hoping for the whole season to be canceled.
November 19th, 2020 at 12:35 PM ^
Shocking. You're typically upbeat and positive.
November 19th, 2020 at 11:22 AM ^
Feels like Michigan will be the one team to play all their games this season, generally facing teams that have had a couple weeks off.
November 19th, 2020 at 11:25 AM ^
Poor Michigan. Cannot catch a break.
November 19th, 2020 at 11:28 AM ^
Normally, I would say the other teams having weeks off in advance of a game with UM is a huge advantage so they can rest and recuperate, diagnose schematic advantages and develop a gameplan which ruthlessly exploits our weaknesses.
This year, 22 guys could show up off the street and as long as one of them can throw the ball far and another can run somewhat fast on the outside -- the game is over.
November 19th, 2020 at 11:25 AM ^
Should have started the season early. Cancel the OSU - Mich game, besides the covid we will not be competitive as Day hangs 100 pts on Donnie Brownie.

November 19th, 2020 at 12:35 PM ^
I wonder what the CFP does if this happens 48 hours prior to a CFP semifinal game? Push the games back or make the other semifinal the championship game?
November 19th, 2020 at 1:14 PM ^
Lucky bastards. Fuck them.
November 19th, 2020 at 2:06 PM ^
Lucky fucks.
