This was my one and only road Michigan game. It was a lot of fun. Had some friends that were attending IU for grad school. Great time.
IU is one that I want to make as well. I went to Wisco last season, and score notwithstanding, the road trip aspect got me hooked
I've been to two football games and one basketball game at IU. Although it sucks getting in and out Bloomington, it's a great place to watch a game. The tailgating is some of the best I've been to. No bad seats in the stadium, because it's pretty small.
Years where I can get the Thanksgiving week off from work, I will always attend the Michigan road game in Bloomington on my drive up from KS to Michigan. Then of course, I'll try to go to the OSU home game before I leave back to KS. Great stadium and the fans are always nice.
It's been over 27 years since I went there for a football game. It was a nice experience but I didn't think there was much vibe.
One of the most straightforward, matter-of-fact victories I can remember.
I am missing these games if you can help it would be greatly appreaciated WD
2003 michigan vs central michigan
2003 michigan vs indiana
2002 michigan vs western michigan
2000 michigan vs rice
2005 michigan vs eastern michigan
I remember the simmering hype of that game and whoever else OSU was playing that week. It was all 'as long as they don't stumble here, we're in for one of the biggest game in college football history'. Felt like it was nervous initially and then it was kind of a 'send off' of sorts into the huge game once it was obvious we were going to win
That week before the OSU game was probably the peak Michigan football got to since I've been a fan. Maybe the week before 2016 OSU would be similar.
Izzat what competent quarterback play looks like?
My buddy and I were driving to Detroit that day to attend a Lions game the next day and listened to it over the radio. I still remember Steve Breaston, Frank Beckmann and "Hello, Kirk Herbstreet!"
Man, it was fun when football was fun.
Thanks for posting this stuff! The last couple years, my dad and I have gotten together to watch the Michigan games on saturdays. (he commutes back and forth between san Francisco and Michigan on a bi-weekly basis, it's complicated) Since I'm suspicious that there will be new football this fall, I'm thinking about curating a 'season' of old games for us to watch, and there will probably at least one 2006 game in there, so it's nice to have options. Keep it up!
I know the Friday and Saturday after this game sucked, but I would love to relive that week again. That was fun to be a part of.
Jeee-zus, Alan Branch was a monster.
You wouldn't happen to have a full-game tape of the 2002 Michigan-UW season opener would you? I've only seen a cut-down version of it online. I was at that game and would love to see a full-game replay.
