SIAP: Harbaugh hires Albany's DC Keith Dudzinski in analyst role; Dudzinski worked under Brown at UMass

Can he play DT?
/s
February 17th, 2020 at 3:09 PM ^
The DT are going to quickly become a strength. This is no longer an issue imo. Smith and Hinton are going to be monsters.
February 17th, 2020 at 4:28 PM ^
Maybe, but Hinton played sparingly and wasn't particularly great and Smith didn't play at all. I'm sure they'll develop. I'm not sure they'll actually be good in 2020, functional maybe, but good...I'd be surprised. That would be quite a jump in production without much evidence to date. That sounds like wishful thinking. Maybe in 2021.
February 17th, 2020 at 5:36 PM ^
Hinton played quite a bit actually. Even finishing the season with more tackles than Dwumfour. But hey, tell yourself whatever you need to bud.
February 17th, 2020 at 6:00 PM ^
Hinton played quite a bit actually
Define quite a bit. He did not even see snaps in every game. He also did not see snaps on the defensive line on a number of the games he played in and recorded his stats on special teams. His playing time did increase over the season particularly in the OSU and Bama games, but he was not particularly effective. That's not a knock on the guy, but the reality of a true freshman DT. I'm sure he'll improve. I'm not sure he'll good next year.
Even finishing the season with more tackles than Dwumfour
So, he had more tackles than a guy that was injured much of the year and ineffective when he did play? What does that tell you? Dwumfour had 9 total tackles and Hinton had 10. As a point of comparison Ben Mason had 7 tackles at DT and didn't even play there much, was new to the position, and was undersized. As a point of comparison Hutchinson had 68, Paye had 50, Kemp had 40, and Danna had 38.
But hey, tell yourself whatever you need to bud.
I'm not knocking Smith or Hinton. They were both highly recruited players. But, it takes time to develop. And, guys don't typically go from contributing sparingly to making significant contributions in one offseason. Generally you see more signs and flashes like you did with Dax Hill for example. My bet is Smith's 2020 is Hinton's 2019 and while Hinton will contribute more tackles because he'll probably be the starter along side Kemp, he doesn't look ready to have a dominant type of season yet.
February 17th, 2020 at 7:25 PM ^
They really only have to be functional this year. As this blog has made clear, freshman DTs suck. And that’s ok. So if they’re functional this year, and I’d venture a guess they will be, that’s a positive for the defense.
February 17th, 2020 at 9:51 PM ^
I agree that if both Kemp and Hinton stay healthy all year they should be functional. But, I also still think they will be weakness of the defense against the better offensive lines, particularly if they get run down and Jeter and/or Smith are not able to provide functional depth behind them.
February 17th, 2020 at 12:18 PM ^
Unsurprised by the hire. Don Brown is always looking for more Dudz on the defense
February 17th, 2020 at 1:52 PM ^
Is that pronounced dudes or duds?
February 17th, 2020 at 2:36 PM ^
When we play OSU, it's consistently the latter
February 17th, 2020 at 12:27 PM ^
How many analysts do we have at this point?
February 17th, 2020 at 12:29 PM ^
Apparently we need all of them just to win a bowl game
February 17th, 2020 at 12:50 PM ^
Hopefully enough guys on defense that we can have one analyst do nothing besides dissect OSU tape.
February 17th, 2020 at 2:21 PM ^
Won't matter if the DL gets their shit pushed in all game.
February 17th, 2020 at 12:53 PM ^
Mama always say to keep an anal list.
February 17th, 2020 at 1:34 PM ^
I assume he's replacing Bush Sr.
February 17th, 2020 at 12:28 PM ^
Now we can beat ohio state and win the big ten!

Downvote all you want but football has been nothing but bad news since November 30 2019 and it’s gonna get worse. Stick to a real sport and support the basketball team, resurgent hockey team, baseball, softball, hell even both Michigan men’s and women’s lacrosse teams deserve more support than the shit show the football team has delivered. Football is and always will be my first love but every post about the football team just continues to piss me off
February 17th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
Don't sugarcoat it. How do you really feel?
February 17th, 2020 at 2:23 PM ^
Why is this such bad news? What do you know about this guy? Hell you wouldn’t know him if you were locked in a phone booth with him yet you knock him being hired as an analyst. Do you even know what he will be doing for the team?
February 17th, 2020 at 3:04 PM ^
I know Keith Dew ... Keith Dudz ... Keith Derp ...
(/checks name)
Dudzinski. Keith Dudzinski was a friend of mine. You, sir, are no Keith Dudzinski.
February 17th, 2020 at 3:10 PM ^
BPONE run amock. If it isn't stellar news it's crap.
February 17th, 2020 at 3:13 PM ^
My comment isn’t knocking on him personally. I don’t know anything about the guy. Everytime I read a thread about the football team it brings up horrible memories all over again. I’m not criticizing the hire
February 17th, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
Then take some medicine for cure this horrible disease.
February 17th, 2020 at 7:54 PM ^
There's a technique for letting out frustration where you write out your rants but delete them instead of sending or posting them. Maybe try that next time.

Thanks for the valuable input. Go away.

Loving the UAlbany - Michigan connection!
(FTR, I taught and tutored there for several years)
February 17th, 2020 at 12:42 PM ^
Username and all that.
February 17th, 2020 at 12:55 PM ^
Yeah, not very original. I could have done better for sure.
The most interesting thing about UAlbany football is that they got a $10MM donation for a pretty nice reno of their stadium. It's actually pretty nice!
February 17th, 2020 at 1:12 PM ^
I've been to a few lacrosse games there that have been sellouts. Does lacrosse get more fans than football?
February 17th, 2020 at 1:21 PM ^
Yes, I agree on the Albany connection. Pretty excited for the tournament in a couple of weeks. Really hoping that MI makes it out here.
February 17th, 2020 at 12:41 PM ^
Can't hurt? Welcome aboard, KDudz. I'm gonna go ahead and need you to figure out a way to slow down OSU by Friday, mmkk? That'd be greeeaaaaaatttttt.
February 17th, 2020 at 12:52 PM ^
Have they been hired to do nothing but break down OSU tape?
February 17th, 2020 at 12:59 PM ^
just the 1st half, 2nd half is by committee.
February 17th, 2020 at 1:00 PM ^
Just what we need...another dud hire.
February 17th, 2020 at 1:12 PM ^
Nepotism wins again...
February 17th, 2020 at 1:34 PM ^
Practically undefeated at Michigan....
February 17th, 2020 at 1:24 PM ^
Sweet, he is a younger version of Don Brown. Just what we need, another assistant who thinks like our current DC.
February 17th, 2020 at 1:55 PM ^
Next DC in waiting
February 17th, 2020 at 1:32 PM ^
7-5 possibly 8-4 in 2020. If Milton or McCaffrey were better than Patterson then they would have already played. Gotta have a great QB to make the playoffs and beat OSU. Same old song and dance on defense. Beating up the weaker teams and getting lit up for the big plays against the better teams. I used to really look forward to UM football every year and especially through the summer but not really anymore under Harbaugh. The baseball team and their progression is an awesome thing to see even if they do not win it all and Howard is going to really good at UM with the kids he is bringing in. He wants to be there and was in Omaha supporting the baseball team after his hire.
February 17th, 2020 at 1:40 PM ^
Can't argue the comment about Milton and McCaffrey. At no time in the history of football has a young QB progressed in their strength, conditioning, relationship with receivers, understanding of a new playbook, etc. during a full off season of training and development. They will be the exact same players they were at the start of last season when they couldn't beat out Patterson. We are doomed.
February 17th, 2020 at 3:00 PM ^
Exactly. Every single player who doesn't start as a true freshman is going to be a downgrade when they do eventually start.
February 17th, 2020 at 3:15 PM ^
They definitely won't know the playbook any better. No way that having a consistent offense, QB, and O coordinator for maybe the second time since Harbaugh has been here will help.
/s
February 17th, 2020 at 3:15 PM ^
Seriously. 2011 RS Freshman Devin Gardner ended the MSU game by, on 4th and 22, scrambling forward 10 yards, then going back behind the line and trying to find a receiver, before getting sacked for a ten yard loss. This a couple plays after an illegal forward pass. 2013 Gardner almost singlehandedly beat OSU on a broken foot.
Players improve, and yet somehow people can watch Austin Davis on one day and then the next day say “McCaffrey and Milton will be worse than Patterson was.”
February 17th, 2020 at 2:00 PM ^
Not since Harbaugh? You a Hoke guy?
February 17th, 2020 at 2:25 PM ^
You preach facts and the downvotes rain in..smh
February 17th, 2020 at 2:35 PM ^
Oh shit you can tell the future. Neat.
February 17th, 2020 at 2:33 PM ^
OK, wait, hold on. So last season it was, "McCaffery is definitely better, but Harbaugh is playing Patterson because he is stubborn and has a preference for the tested upperclassmen," but now it's "McCaffery obviously would have played if he were even close to Patterson last year, and will never, ever get any better, so we're doomed"? Sports fans are super dumb...
February 17th, 2020 at 2:35 PM ^
Aren’t you a sports fan on a sports blog?
February 17th, 2020 at 2:40 PM ^
Aren't you overdosing?
