Happy Festivus: It’s Time for the Airing of the Grievances
I’ve got a lot of problems with you people, now you’re gonna hear about it!
First Grievance: When I’m trying to read a post to find pertinent information, I find it impossible because 10-12 of you bastards have went off into a tangent replying with information that relates to an 80’s cover band or whatever sandwich you had at a place in Prescott Valley, Arizona.
Get off my lawn!

Easily my favorite MgoBlog Day of the year.

Never mind.

That was the unofficial festivus, this is official festivus.

I got a lot of problems with you people! Now you're gonna hear about it!
The blog redesign really sucks. I mean, it's just awful. Did Brian actually pay real money for it? Or was it done in trade for some beads and smallpox? He would have been better off finding a teenager on 4chan to do it.
December 23rd, 2019 at 8:11 AM ^
Brian has moved on.

Die Hard is not a Christmas movie. That joke is played. If you’re still playing it at this point, you a basic bitch.
December 23rd, 2019 at 7:50 AM ^
Die Hard is one of the best Christmas movies of all time. OF ALL TIME.
You the basic bitch, Larry.

Just adding to your list of shit hot takes I see.

Remember when you and Balki got stuck in the airport by that snowstorm in '86? John McClane would have fixed all of that.
December 23rd, 2019 at 8:36 AM ^
Die Hard 2. Now THAT’S a Christmas movie!
December 23rd, 2019 at 10:10 AM ^
If Die Hard is a Christmas movie, so is Lethal Weapon. Change my mind.

You serious Clark?
I don't remember Lethal Weapon as much as Die Hard (yet another reason it is a Christmas classic), but...
Die Hard takes place at a Christmas party (I believe LW only ends at one)
Bruce Willis writes Ho Ho Ho on a dead body
Bruce Willis tapes a gun to his back with Christmas tape
Does Melly Gibsons do any of that?

Lethal Weapon Final Fight:

Note all the Xmas lights. Couldn't find the clip immediately before that with Gary Busey storming around Murtaugh's living room with the tree shooting out the TV with the Xmas special on.
Gibson contemplates suicide to an Xmas special in his trailer on the beach and wishes his dead wife a Merry Xmas.
There's also the opening, which is set to, "Jingle Bell Rock," and is totally NSFW.
There are a couple more Xmas jokes I'm forgetting.
So, yeah, I'd say Lethal Weapon does plenty.

My wife is gonna be crushed when I tell her. We watch it every year at Christmas.
December 23rd, 2019 at 7:32 PM ^
According to the man himself, during his highly recommended roast(my opinion anyways), Die Hard is not a Christmas movie. It is a Bruce F****** Willis movie! As far as grievances are concerned, I could do without all the negativity, trolls, star gazing, existential crisis' following losses or recruits that choose a different school, the way the boards allow the trolls to troll them, facetiousness, and yes the site redesign. I personally click on every thread to show some support to a free site with my clicks(and Amazon purchases when I think about it) but the constructive conversations that keeps me coming back to the board are fewer and farther in between.

Prescott Valley is a cool place.
December 23rd, 2019 at 7:55 AM ^
Reposting this from the earlier Festivus thread:
My 55" LG TV just crapped out. It is less than 4 years old. Meanwhile, my 9 year old Panasonic is working just fine. FUCK YOU LG! Your televisions are garbage! I will never buy another one.
Mrs. Hatter just cracked a crown and is now in the process of getting an implant. And it's costing me a small fortune. Maybe she should think about not eating candy like an unsupervised 5 year old? She's 40 FFS. Enough with the goddamn candy.
More to follow once I wipe the spittle off my monitor..

December 23rd, 2019 at 8:51 AM ^
It's only $480 to replace it today with a like model. If it craps out in four years, so what? You'll end up getting yourself new technology, a bigger screen, and better sound, for less money. That's how technology works... Quit whining about getting 4 years out of something, they're not made to last much longer than that. This isn't your dad's Magnavox console with Technicolor!

I really hate the "just throw it away and buy a new one" way of thinking. It's incredibly wasteful.
Durable goods should actually be durable. I'm pretty sure we had the same television in my house for about 20 years when I was growing up. It ended up being donated because it still worked just fine.
December 23rd, 2019 at 11:06 AM ^
Yep, have had my main TV for 14 years and while I was pissed spending what I spent on it at the time, I gotta say year over year and move after move(across the Pacific Ocean, and to three different houses in the United States) its actually been as durable as my wife said it would be.
December 23rd, 2019 at 12:35 PM ^
I agree - things should be built to last. But that is not the way of the world, anymore. Shelf life, mortality rates, usage patterns, mass production... Sure, you can still get things repaired and keep them longer. But doing so requires monetary outlay and - more importantly - your time. Take a TV off the wall, transport it to a repair show, wait for the repairs, and rehang it. How long are you without a TV?
I dunno... Most TVs will last far longer than 4 years. All I'm saying is that once you get 4 years (or maybe 3?), that thing is paid for. Buy a new one if it craps out.
December 23rd, 2019 at 12:30 PM ^
If you paid almost $3K for a 65" 4K HDR Smart TV, you paid too much just to get some fancy features you can talk about. But that doesn't change the equation - in four years, your $3000 TV will be obsolete.
Technology changes fast - if you can justify the cost, more power to you! (And that goes for a $500 TV just as quickly as it works for a $3000 TV...)
December 24th, 2019 at 8:38 AM ^
I don't see how it's obsolete. It's a 4k TV, and there are hardly even any 4k signals to play at this point. If anything that TV is still ahead of what you actually need.

Haa!!! Great use of my own line!
December 23rd, 2019 at 8:43 AM ^
That happened to my Samsung and I bought a new motherboard on eBay for $25 and it actually worked. No soldering, just plug it in.
December 23rd, 2019 at 8:51 AM ^
I think one (or more) of the LED's have gone bad. It's only like $65 for the parts to replace them all, but I'm not sure how hard that is to do.
December 23rd, 2019 at 12:38 PM ^
At that price, it's worth an effort. No doubt some video exists to show you exactly what to do. If it doesn't work out, what have you lost other than $65? Give it a go!
December 23rd, 2019 at 10:58 AM ^
At first I was confused? Getting "an" implant? If 2 then that would be your gift, one that keeps on giving. My dentist has a machine that makes the crown right in his office, actually took me in to watch being made. Said the purchase was his mid life instead of a Porsche.
December 23rd, 2019 at 12:35 PM ^
My dentist did the same thing! He took me into a special room to watch my crown being made. He couldn't stop gushing about how cool it was. They must love that thing.
December 23rd, 2019 at 8:06 AM ^
Too much BPONE. Y'all need to go find something else to fill the void in your lives. Michigan sports clearly isn't doing it for you.

Have u seen the FB and Hockey teams lately?
December 23rd, 2019 at 10:08 AM ^
Yep. And sure, they arent living up to historical standards (expectations?). Doesn't mean Im going to rage on the internet about it and plunge myself into the depths of despair. I'll take what enjoyment I can and move on to the next thing--all while continuing to support the teams. See you all at the GLI next week!

I actually have no complaints. The mood around here has been quite lovely lately.
