Pressure's on Ohio!
November 24th, 2019 at 12:29 PM ^
Why is it on Ohio ? We were favored to win the B1G at the beginning of the season because of our experience and their youth and yet they're going to win the B1G again no matter what happens in this game. Jim CANNOT go to 0-5. Gotta believe the pressure is on us. Still no B!G championships since 2004
November 24th, 2019 at 12:34 PM ^
"We?" LOL

?????? Troll
November 24th, 2019 at 1:45 PM ^
How small of a dick do you have to have to troll message boards in 2019?
November 24th, 2019 at 2:53 PM ^
What did he say that was wrong? We were favored to win the Big10 by most of the media, While I dont agree that the pressure is on us because once we lost to psu alot of pressure was off of us because the big10 was practically lost at that point. Interesting that thats when we started playing good.
November 24th, 2019 at 8:37 PM ^
They also picked Nebraska to win the West, at least they were closer with picking UM. If not for a bad first half against PSU they might be in the conversation. I'm certain that more often than not the writers pick the wrong teams to win the conference. That said, we were a trendy pick but to say its because we had experience is crazy considering our defense had a lost a ton of experienced starters.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:32 PM ^
Agreed. Given Michigan isn’t really playing for anything but winning The Game, should just be happy all the players are playing at this point because could be getting ready for the draft.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:15 PM ^
OSU feels no pressure whatsoever. They’ve beaten us 18 of the last 20 years, and no matter what happens next week they’re going to Indy, and likely the playoffs.
If anything, it’s Michigan feeling the pressure.
November 24th, 2019 at 2:35 PM ^
You don't think that 1996 game bothers them? They were 17 point favorites and still went to the Rose Bowl and won it, but blew that game.
And I'm sure Ryan Day wants no part of any John Cooper whispers if he starts 0-1.
November 24th, 2019 at 2:47 PM ^
17. They had to vacate one of the wins because they cheat.
November 24th, 2019 at 3:20 PM ^
Unless we rock their ass and the committee snubs them over Bama. Also there’s still an outside chance we could go to the rose bowl so this game means a hell of a lot to both teams.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:26 PM ^
No matter what happens against Ohio State this year has some positives that will last years.
(1) We curbstomped Dantonio and he is either done or will drag down his program with pride.
(2) We blew out Notre Dame and many Irish fans want Kelly gone. (Why are BigTen teams even scheduling ND and helping a major competing power that is within our footprint???)
(3) We finally blew out Indiana.
(4) We implemented a new offensive system that is finally seeing success.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:00 PM ^
To double down on this. We have an offense that HS kids will want to play for. Not some throwback of the 80’s. Should help in recruiting. A win Saturday would really help though.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:28 PM ^
Word.
STOP SCHEDULING ND.
Home and home every 15 years is ok, I guess. I hate them. I hate their fans. It’s great to beat them. But acting like all their rivals should just bend the knee and play them frequently is ridiculous.
Hey, ND, USC is your biggest rival? Cool join the PAC 10. Your basketball program wants to join the acc? Fine. But don’t half ass it. Do it or don’t. That includes *clears throat* your entire athletic department.
They are trying (successfully) to play one or two big games a year, without the grind (or common opponents) of a conference schedule, yet still be in playoff talks.
Bo was right.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:42 PM ^
Well, we're not scheduled to play them until the 2030's. But it's a great series and we've had so many memorable moments. I'd like us to add some games in the 2020s.
Annoying fans? What would you call OSU or MSU? ND fans are a lot more reasonable than those guys.
November 24th, 2019 at 2:08 PM ^
I don't mind playing ND but I will hate it if we cancel other interesting series to do it.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:42 PM ^
Word. I was pissed when OSU scheduled ND for a home and home. The B1G would best be served if all the conference members stopped playing ND. Let ND be a team with no rivals other than USC, no conference championship to sell to recruits. All they could say is "we play a half assed pseudo ACC schedule". Recruits families in the midwest won't be happy having to travel all over the Eastern seaboard to watch ND play.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:45 PM ^
I'd rather continue an interesting series with a peer institution than let it die out of some misplaced Big Ten pride.
ND is not going to wither on the vine if the Big Ten doesn't play them. They'll find replacements. And WTF has Jim Delany done for us that we need to follow his bidding?
November 24th, 2019 at 1:43 PM ^
delete. duplicate post
November 24th, 2019 at 1:49 PM ^
I would add that D Brown has adopted different schemes better equipped for the OSU defense. No saying we are going to stop them, but at least expect a lot less explosive plays. Hope I am right!
Edit I meant OSU offense
November 24th, 2019 at 8:26 PM ^
His scheme this year would do much better against last year's Ohio State team for sure. But the nervewracking thing on that side of the ball is still the middle of our line. And OSU has good guards and an elite rb. If their running game is churning they'll be impossible to stop, especially in the second half.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:26 PM ^
10.5 sounds about right and a reasonable expectation on the final score. But I’m not about to be reasonable this week and neither will 110,000 fans or 125 M players.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:53 PM ^
Michigan has enough talent to win this game. Biggest concern is pass blocking. If they can work the quick passing game and keep the defense honest, we should be able to score.
Gotta believe Don Brown will be ready.
Don't sleep on Michigan!
November 24th, 2019 at 1:28 PM ^
I think 20.5 sounds about right. Mark my words.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:29 PM ^
Surprised it’s not more.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:30 PM ^
Let that creep up to 12.5 13 and play Michigan on the money line and the over.
we are going to win this game
November 24th, 2019 at 12:39 PM ^
Why the over ?
November 24th, 2019 at 1:38 PM ^
It’s going to be a shoot out
November 24th, 2019 at 12:49 PM ^
Agreed. On both counts.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:33 PM ^
Take the points!
November 24th, 2019 at 12:34 PM ^
The Bobcats must be really good this year! Never underestimate the Frank Solich fightin' Bobcats!
November 24th, 2019 at 12:37 PM ^
Who is playing the bobcats as underdogs?
November 24th, 2019 at 12:39 PM ^
The 2 years I was at Michigan for graduate school we beat undefeated 10-0 Ohio State teams ranked#2 in 1995 and 1996. 1995 was, of course, the Biakabutuka game in Ann Arbor. 1996 was at Ohio State and we were 17 point underdogs. I don't remember the line in 1995. Those Ohio State teams were loaded with Eddie George, Terry Glenn, Orlando Pace, Shawn Springs, Mike Vrabel, David Boston.
It was pretty glorious and you almost forget the 4 losses each of those years (almost)
November 24th, 2019 at 1:16 PM ^
For the Biakabutuka game, the line was OSU by 9 or 9.5, I believe
Even if Michigan were to win Saturday, 1995 would remain more of a shocking win... (really, Michigan and OSU have palyed about the same the past 3 or 4 weeks, with an OSU depth advantage)
November 24th, 2019 at 1:18 PM ^
I don’t remember those losses. But i do remember those glorious ruining of Ohio states seasons
November 24th, 2019 at 1:27 PM ^
Do you have any eligibility left?
November 24th, 2019 at 1:59 PM ^
The Biakabutuka game was my last game as a student at the Big House. It was a bit bittersweet. The game was sweet; but by that point most of my friends had graduated and moved on so I was there alone. I did talk with some girls from Northwestern who were very happy because us knocking off OSU allowed Northwestern to go to the Rosebowl, if I recall correctly.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:40 PM ^
Why would a MAC team be favored over us? Tough times indeed
November 24th, 2019 at 12:43 PM ^
That's a heck of a line for a road team in a rivalry game that isn't a 11-0 team vs a 3-8 type team, but probably fair. On a neutral field this line would probably be OSU -17.
OSU's reputation and hype hasn't been higher than this in a long, long time. I don't know how justified it is because some of it seems to be based just on the fact that Clemson isn't playing anyone and Bama lost to LSU (while they don't trust LSU yet as a juggernaut). Don't get me wrong, OSU is easily the best team in the Big Ten and should probably wallop us all things being equal but I would totally not be shocked to see them lose vs a Southern team in the playoffs.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:44 PM ^
What is the easiest place to make a bet? I want to put 1 large on UM for the straight up win.
also, "1 large" means "1 dollar".
But still, I'm betting.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:02 PM ^
Hmmm, Motherfucker Jones said 1 large is a grand

November 24th, 2019 at 12:45 PM ^
I took the points and PSU versus OSU. Against good defenses like MSU and PSU, they have averaged only about 33 points (34, 28 and then 38 to Wisconsin). If we can hold them to that average, we will need to score 38-ish points to win the game and 24-ish to cover the spread.
Watched the PSU game ... people are overlooking the strength of OSU's defense. Mattison has really turned around that unit. Their pass rush is elite. PSU, minus yards from the 5 sacks, had only about 50 net yards from the pass game for the entire day.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:49 PM ^
Getting to Fields and keeping them off Shea is the ballgame.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:06 PM ^
???
Who is overlooking OSU’s defense? They’re favored by 10 on the road versus a team that’s been on fire on both sides of the ball. Indeed, the biggest concern I have for this game is OSU’s defense, specifically the D line. Patterson has been great when not too pressured. He’s terrible when pressured, with bad decisions and accuracy problems even when throwing to a wide open target. He’ll be pressured Saturday.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:15 PM ^
they played PSU, MSU, and Wiscy all at home. They haven't played a ranked team on the road.
don't forget, Mattison coached at Michigan before he pulled his big F/U and went South. We should know his tendencies.
I don't know if we are going to win or lose. But one thing is certain, we are going to give them our best shot.
November 24th, 2019 at 12:48 PM ^
Take Michigan and the points in this one, fellas. This line is an overcorrection due to last year. The final score will either be closer, or UM wins outright.
November 24th, 2019 at 1:05 PM ^
i bet one clown. i'm not confident enough to wager 2 clowns.
