Big Rain Coming for the ND Game + Who is Going?
Mates,
So the good news is that for the last day they aren't talking about having any thunder/lightning in the forecast. The bad news is that we have gone from rain or showers all the way to 1"-2" of rain - that's a big time front coming through. Here's what it says:
Saturday
Rain, mainly after 3pm. Patchy fog before 9am. High near 56. Light east northeast wind becoming east southeast 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Saturday Night
Rain before 8pm, then showers after 8pm. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 50. East wind 14 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
Further discussion here: widespread rain developing 18-00z Sunday with trowal maintaining rain through Saturday evening/night.... supporting heavy rainfall even with thunderstorms likely hard to come by[.]
Rain will overspread Se Mi from south to north Saturday afternoon and early evening and persist through Sat night. The period of peak rainfall intensity is expected to occur between 7 PM and 5 AM. The combination of weak instability and high moisture content will support widespread rainfall amounts in excess of a half inch. Probabilities that total rainfall amounts between one and two inches have been rising the last few model trends.
Bottom line: dress appropriately
Secondly, who is going to the game? Rain or no rain, I am hoping for a great one under the lights.
Go Blue!

I plan to be there in a group of four. If the primary ticket holder (not me) decides to sell the tickets and head to Fraser's, I might be open to that arrangement.
October 25th, 2019 at 6:20 AM ^
I’ll be there with my flippers on
October 25th, 2019 at 6:25 AM ^
Unfortunately i am going have to miss this one. It is the first time i am selling my pair of season seats and parking.
If any in looking for 2 see the buying/ selling sticky.
Go Blue

Not too late to move it to noon.
Your negs can’t hurt me!
October 25th, 2019 at 7:41 AM ^
Totally down for this
October 25th, 2019 at 9:40 AM ^
And we can still turn the lights on. There's no shame in holding another "Under the Lights" game during daylight.
October 25th, 2019 at 9:54 AM ^
I work till 3:30. Not wanting to see that happen
October 25th, 2019 at 6:36 AM ^
Will be there with 2 great friends! Like suckers, we got the tickets months ago for top dollar anticipating a top 10 matchup. Seats are awesome though (section 40, row 2).
Go blue!
October 25th, 2019 at 9:54 AM ^
Same with me, bought them for myself and dad during the hype, haha lesson learned. I'm weighing whether my conscience would be too guilty if my dad contracted pneumonia from going to the game...
October 25th, 2019 at 6:36 AM ^
Of course I will be there. This is a huge game for the narrative around the program. I don’t think rain clearly helps either team, so I don’t mind it. A good start is even more important though, we won’t come back from 3 scores tomorrow.
Hopefully Columbus and east Lansing have some bad weather, would increase odds for Wisconsin and MSU.
October 25th, 2019 at 6:53 AM ^
Well Michigan has trouble holding onto the ball in dry weather. You think wet weather doesn’t favor Notre Dame?
October 25th, 2019 at 11:44 AM ^
ND and Ian Book have had trouble, too. Could be just a game-long Yakety Sax
October 25th, 2019 at 7:11 AM ^
I’m not cheering for MSU under any circumstance. Ever.
October 25th, 2019 at 8:40 AM ^
You'd root against them even if it hurt Michigan? That's Little Brother thinking...
October 25th, 2019 at 8:50 AM ^
What if sparty was playing ISIS or Chicom, somebody like that?
October 25th, 2019 at 6:44 AM ^
Get to see how the new Event Team jackets shed the rain and keep me warm for 6+ hours.
XM, will you be down early enough to hit a tailgate? Are you driving home right after the game?
October 25th, 2019 at 6:59 AM ^
SB, we'll be down in the afternoon and returning home immediately after. There is a strong chance we will be on the field before the game. Are you over in section 6, at the bottom? Can we wander over towards your section?
October 25th, 2019 at 7:13 AM ^
Who do you know to get pregame field passes?? Is your gentleman rancher persona just a front for your big money doner alter ego.
October 25th, 2019 at 9:01 AM ^
You don't have to be poor to homestead. Just hardy and wholesome.
October 25th, 2019 at 9:10 AM ^
i am neither a gentleman nor a big money donor, but even a schmuck like me might have a friend or two. a couple of years ago i got on the field with my 3 middle sons and it was really special. i hadn't been on that field since my senior year, last game, vs. ohio (a win...). you don't appreciate that when you are 21, but when you come back decades later, it hits home in a pretty cool way.
October 25th, 2019 at 9:33 AM ^
I’m with you XM, I was on the sideline for about 5 minutes of playing time for homecoming vs. NW a few years ago. Jourdan Lewis picked six right in front of me. A few minutes later I was singing with the NY Philharmonic (right behind the trombone) singing Carmen and Beethoven’s 9th. Will never forget or probably top.
October 25th, 2019 at 10:24 AM ^
too cool.
October 25th, 2019 at 10:55 PM ^
You'll both need your goloshes tomorrow, especially if you go down to the field...
October 25th, 2019 at 7:25 AM ^
1-2 inches with locally heavier amounts...I was planning to be there but won't if the forecast doesn't change.
Ticket prices on Stubhub seem to be heading south.
October 25th, 2019 at 9:15 AM ^
If you sell your tics to a ND fan you'll be excommunicated for life. Don't do that bullshit!
October 25th, 2019 at 7:25 AM ^
I'll be there. I've already endured 2 High School football games that were torrential downpours. This seems to be the year that it's going to rain for most football games.
Sparty must be elated. They are hosting PSU and they love this shit. Their field is a swamp in dry weather. They can bog PSU down and win on a last second field goal.
MSU - 3
PSU - 2
October 25th, 2019 at 8:31 AM ^
You better believe your ass we're excited the weather should bring forth a slopshow. That's how low this ship has sank...we have to hope for elements to equal the playing field.
October 25th, 2019 at 8:55 AM ^
They can bog PSU down and attempt win on a last second field goal, which will be nullified because they cannot count to 11.
MSU - 0
PSU - 2
October 25th, 2019 at 9:34 AM ^
It looks like most of the MSU-PSU game might get in before the heavy rain starts falling.
UM-ND may be kicking off in a mini monsoon.
October 25th, 2019 at 7:32 AM ^
I’ll be there tailgating all day then going to the Game, Go Blue!!!
to Hell with Notre Dame!!!
October 25th, 2019 at 7:40 AM ^
I’ll be there, dressed for anything! Go Blue!
October 25th, 2019 at 7:55 AM ^
RAIN PONCHO BANG!!!
And yes, I'll be there. We'll be tailgating at noon, hoping to get a few dry hours before the rain takes over mid-afternoon.
October 25th, 2019 at 7:56 AM ^
My lovely wife and I will be there. We never miss, no matter what. Tailgate starts at 3pm, and then we'll gear up and head into the game. We'll use our rally towel giveaways to wipe off the wet seats! The Special Operations Command Para-Commandos will prove their mettle if they can do their pregame parachute jump into the stadium in the weather conditions we're likely to have. Go Blue!
October 25th, 2019 at 8:42 AM ^
I think we can now rule out the parachute jump. No way in he** they do that with all those low rain clouds.
October 25th, 2019 at 9:08 AM ^
There is a parachute jump at tonight’s men’s soccer at halftime. Don’t know if it’s the same Ops group or not but it might be an open “practice” for Saturday. Same size field, same orientation, just a half mile away (slightly smaller crowd).
October 25th, 2019 at 8:02 AM ^
Coming in from Virginia. Wouldn't miss it!
October 25th, 2019 at 8:15 AM ^
I’m assuming this is the front that was blasting Texas yesterday? Is there any chance it takes a more Eastern path than Northeastern? Seems incredibly slowmoving and way south still to know it is going to blast us.
Edit: I now see a big front in Western Canada, which makes more sense. Hopefully it breaks up over the Rockies or something.
October 25th, 2019 at 8:17 AM ^
October 25th, 2019 at 8:20 AM ^
Will be there, Blue Lot, noon. If you see someone wearing these, its probably me..
October 25th, 2019 at 8:27 AM ^
I’m thinking now, purchasing tickets to MSU game may have been a better choice! I’d rather sit in snow than rain although a cold rain in November isn’t any fun either.
For those of you going, for your sake I hope the forecast is wrong! Go Blue and beat Notre Dame!
October 25th, 2019 at 8:28 AM ^
I'll be there - although with this forecast i'm seriously considering changing my attire from maize/blue to include some fall outdoor woods-wear that is made for this. May not look the part - but sure is much more comfortable for this weather.
October 25th, 2019 at 9:36 AM ^
You're in luck - no reason to not look the part!
October 25th, 2019 at 8:56 AM ^
I'm sort of in a quandary about going to the game.
I've tried to off-load 2 of my 4 tickets, so my wife and I could go, pay for a nice dinner before the game and have some time sans children. But with prices dropping precipitously since the weather report yesterday, I might have to get rid of them for far below face.
But I also have to coach my oldest son's soccer game earlier in the afternoon, with an 80% chance of rain. So I'm not looking forward to spending a collective 10+ hours in the rain between soccer, pre-game, and game (including possible OT - think OTL 2011). I have visions of being laid up on the couch with pneumonia for the next two weeks.
Now, I'm all about going by myself (hell, I can take a nap on my four seats if I want!), and did so last year for the PSU night game when my wife was under the weather.
I'm trying really hard to bend my mind to not inversely correlate rain/storm chances with likelihood of going to the game. Especially since I'd like to see some revenge for the last two games against ND, and being that the next time we might play them at home is still not settled.
So, I'll probably be there. Think I'll go to MDen and snag some warm, wet weather gear.
October 25th, 2019 at 8:58 AM ^
If I sat through 2017 MSU, I guess I'm sitting through this too...
Go Blue

Flying in from Delaware for the game, ready to get soaked and come out smiling with a W
October 25th, 2019 at 9:11 AM ^
Yet another example of Michigan's confounding bad luck:
Prior week: Night game at opponent's stadium. Perfect weather. Big crowd advantage.
This week: Night game at home stadium. Deluge. Crowd factor severely dampened (pun intended).
HOWEVER - I will say this. And at this point fuck jinxes. Michigan has never lost a home game since the new end-zones were painted (at the beginning of the 2018 season).
October 25th, 2019 at 9:31 AM ^
To be fair, we haven't lost any home games under Harbaugh besides MSU and OSU.
October 25th, 2019 at 9:18 AM ^
Stupid rain
