Slightly older like you (and before anyone can say boomer - I am not), but 1974's take is spot on in my opinion and experience as well. Many things from a larger cultural perspective have greatly improved, but there has been a largely disturbing trend at the individual level that is quite concerning. I don't believe the change is all simply because we are older and everyone tends to think the "old days" were better.

Well, it's not like their program is totally irrelevant. I mean, they did have regular season home games against both the teams that will be playing for the championship. Of course they did get outscored by a combined total of 90-7 but...
Not a particular "poster", but man I miss the season schedule posters.... I used to decorate my office cube with them just to irritate the residents MSU/OSU folk....
Wow, we've been spoiled to have the privilege seeing so many good running backs over the years - but man I too will miss Blake. As both a player - and a person, he's the real deal. So proud of him being part of this University.
By all means yes! Speaking as someone with both now in college, I have great memories of the last couple road trip vacations I set up with them. That chance to have a captured audience for the experiences that happen during a road trip - priceless memories.
One option to consider - fly one way and then rent a vehicle for the other leg of the trip? Still opens up that road trip.

You're lucky. The worst part of the game for me was early in the first. I had Michigan fans with a clear lack of understanding of football in front of me that were calling Shea names. So darn irritating!!! As the game continued I made it a point to yell extra loud after Shea's good plays.
Amazing game other than that with a great atmosphere. Wet or not, it was awesome!!!
I'll be there - although with this forecast i'm seriously considering changing my attire from maize/blue to include some fall outdoor woods-wear that is made for this. May not look the part - but sure is much more comfortable for this weather.
I hear you and have some of the same fears - but mine is a senior. Applied to many different schools (including Michigan). Unfortunately credentials not quite good enough to be in Ann Arbor with her brother. Has found one that we are quite pleased and comfortable with her attending. She's a smart girl, and everything will work out great. Interestingly enough, she applied to several schools, in state and out of state. Got accepted everywhere she applied - usually with good scholarship money. There's one school in michigan that she was not allowed to apply to (and really i dont think she would have even if her parents would have let her), and that's the one in east lansing.
1) One of the leaders from a movie, bunch of everyday kids turn into rebels fighting for their freedom. The name they give themselves is from the mascot from their school.
2) Just a pic from the movie where these rebels leave their mark after a confrontation
49 year old male alumni and watch every single game without question - usually several from the stands. Wife is also 49 and sometimes i wonder if she is more of a fan than me. She also happens to have a severe dislike for that university in east lansing as a result of her interactions with their alumni/fans. We have one son currently at Michigan and a daughter filling out her applications to several universities (except the one that her mother will not allow).
Oh look - a Spartan. Yes they did win the big 10, and managed a stellar 3-2 record in away games. How'd that football thing work during those 2 losses by a combined 73 points?

If someone gets through this thread without at least one chuckle, you have serious issues.
Not totally off base i suppose. Maybe some modifications...you dont need a license to own a car and use on your property, only public usage. Maybe make it the same for handguns-like the concealed carry restrictions, For public usage (off your property). Those are licensed, do have to renew, aptitude testing i have questions about (do we really test aptitude for driving?). As far as liability, that should be an individual decision not mandated.
And this is why the discussion normally falls apart. No matter how much people try, there is always another that has a different opinion than the one you stated. For example your last 2 sentences are one opinion - what about the guy working out in the woods, in an area that has significant wolf or other predator presence. Would he have the same opinion on the legitmate use of having a handgun available to him?
okay i get your point - but not sure its the right comparison. DUI laws are for after the law is broken. Do we need to make it a more severe penalty for murder?
Yeah this is a favorite of sparty. Tell me bubba, what would your precious coach do in this situation? Would the king of the "second chance" do anything different?
This all day. All I hear is them talking - especially after the football game. Even then they were given it to me about basketball. Since this weekend they have been amazingly quiet to me - and I havent said a word (which is always the case when Mich wins).
Sounds a bit like generalization without looking at the all the results. Implying MSU beats our 10 win teams, then following with our wins against dantoinio's poor teams. Dantonio has beaten 2 of our ten win teams - one with a fluke play. In his tenure at MSU, Michigan has only had 3 10 win seasons. Its not like he has seen a large number of good Michigan teams (3 of his wins were against michigan teams with more than 7 wins). Seems as though maybe MSU beats our poor teams.
Nor would we want Harbaugh to put pressure on admissions. We should be striving to keep both at high standards - academics and athletics. Will it be harder? No question. But that just adds to the pride i have for Michigan. It means something.
Do all players that have great success play against non "lollipop guild" competition? Time will tell on Ben, but theres no denying he is an athlete and has shown that. I can attest that he doesnt take the off-season off.
They get their disrespect from that chip that all MSU freshman get surgically inserted into their shoulder. Work has been again awful this year - whereas last yr they were all silent. I never said a word to anyone all last season, yet this year I get comments constantly. It has nothing to do with them getting flack, it comes from within.
So that's why at their home games they chant F%^* Jim Harbaugh? They dont want to admit it, but its not just being obsessed. They dread going back to not beating UM on a regular basis and they see a guy that has had success elsewhere and are afraid he'll do it here.
The real fans will be rooting on the team this saturday. Just like i was through the downpour, i'll be out there in the cold this saturday doing just that.

And it never changes - my oldest is now a sophomore at our beloved school and it hasn't changed. Just miss him more.

And yet, after the first 3 yrs of Dantonio his record in away games was 7-11, Harbaugh's record is 11-7.
