DPJ is #18 in the Top 30 returning players in the B1G
Why wasn't the Nebraska punt return for a TD on the highlights?
My son still copies that superfluous spin move, "like that one guy from Michigan."
#18????
I'm sure there's a possibility of being labeled a homer, but at this point of his career, why he isn't at least top 10 is confusing.
The numbers just aren't there to justify top 10, in my opinion. I think he could be by the end of the year though.
I agree 18 sounds reasonable I didn't find totals for 2019 but in 2018 the conference returned 225 starters, 201 if you don't include special teams. Being considered in the top 10% of returning big ten players does not seem like a slight to me especially considering how run heavy and slow pace the offense was for much of 2018.
Got high hopes for he's a beast this year. - speed in space
I think he should be 17.
Hawt take.
Probably because he wasn't thrown to enough. He will be this year.
Because he had approximately 600 yards and fewer than 10 TDs last year. It's been so long since Michigan had a nationally relevant offensive player that people seem to have forgotten what that looks like.
Like the man said, his numbers aren’t eye-popping in what is a backwards-looking ranking. I would also have to think that BTN conference-wide ranking are partially influenced by the need to spread the wealth around the conference as much as possible.
One last point. If Gerri DiNardo was involved in this ranking, it loses credibility with me. He’s a boob.
That dude isn't involved in his own rankings... he's a talking head.
#18????
I feel so strongly about this, I felt like it needed to be said twice.
My kingdom for a QB that can lead our receivers lol! The underthrows....
Has Shea moved up or down?
Still the same. Ranked just below Army
Just got off the phone with Mineral King and he says Shea will always be #1 in his heart no matter where he landed on this list.
He then went on with some controversial comments about Justin Fields and Michigan play-calling... wasn't sure what to make of that.
1. Collins
2. Black ( maybe #1 if he can stay healthy )
3. DPJ
Im pretty much with you on this. I would probably rate the recievers the same. Although its close, hardly any difference between 1 and 3.
Feels like 1A, 1B and 1C. I'm excited about the "Speed in Space" bit. It'll help us win and get more elite receivers. It is annoying to see tape on Patterson and have him underthrowing so consistently. At least the receivers can come back for the catch vs overthrowing.
Id love to see all 3 play like the #1 receiver. The one thing I like about Collins is that he is strong on the ball.
Tarik Black is every bit as good as George Campbell!
Considering he's the 10th leading returning WR in the Big Ten for receiving yards, 18th is pretty high.
Let's not forget, he's tied for 3rd in returning TD catches. Also, he tossed in a PR TD, and was overall the most productive PR in the conference last year.
I was going to say the same. Lead the B10 in PR yardage with 250. Still, I can see an argument for 18 being high for him, but I wouldn't say it is very high.
Let's do the talking on the field - DPJ should have himself a hell of a season
It is sad that we have such talent with DPJ and Black and Collins and we have not done a good job of getting them the ball as much as we could have in their first 2 years. Hoping that #speedinspace becomes a true reality.
What we really need is a new offensive coordinator from last season. But that will never happen.
Why put the ball in the hands of your playmakers when you can hand it off to the FB?
...or the Tight End
Damn it, you made me remember that!
Hope he gets the ball more this year or it’s going to be yet again another 5 star we feel underwhelmed with when they leave.
Might be interrelated to OL and QB play... and to offensive scheme with a pound the rock into a wall mentality with the box loaded. Can't understand the inflexibility.
It is certainly related to that. DPJ would be underwhelming in sort of a unique way in a sense it would almost entirely be scheme based. He’s clearly shown he’s one of the most skilled players in the country when he actually has the ball in his hands.
Interestingly, last couple years only 32% of 5* WRs even got drafted.
It's the least exact of their inexact science.
Here's to DPJ beating the odds.
Nico Collins is the best WR on the team. He will have a breakout year and be a 1st round pick in next year’s draft. He is a specimen.
Is it possible for 4 wide receivers to have break out years? That's pretty much where our new OC has my expectations.
Yes. +1 to you.
He's top 10.
Its DPJs value in YAC. His return capabilities push him ahead of other receivers. Doesn't mean Nico isn't great. So I agree. Can't wait to see the new offense. After that Big House practice, it is obvious that the middle and heck, the entire 2/3rds of the field is usable this year.
I don't want to start a thread because I don't have direct info (hearing it basically 3rd hand) but can anyone address the rumors that one of our starting DBs might be out for the year? Possibly a starting corner?
I really hope this is a false rumor but wouldn't surprise me in the least. This is the Michigan luck I'm used to
I saw it could be Ambry Thomas, that it was just an illness and maybe not season ending, also saw it could have came from a Buckeye source which may or may not have been a copy from Chris Balas. I don't have a Rivals account so I don't know what he said.
All info looked pretty hazy right now and nothing solid. Not sure I believe anything at the moment. If the rumor persists then there is probably something to it.
I'm getting hysterical and I need a safe space.
Chris Balas stuff is such click bait. Rivals provides shit coverage overall and too many hot takes designed to sell stuff. Like Twitter and Facebook, I killed my Rivals site. MgoBlog, Sam Webb and Isiah Hole are all I follow. Accurate and less bullshit takes.
If DPJ is fully healthy, he is going to skyrocket up the f-ing list as he defines #SpeedinSpace
Go Blue !!!
The punt returns were electric. But here's to hoping that some as electric as DPJ can take over in that category. I think we'll need him to be fresh on the offensive side this season because he'll be seeing the ball a lot.
To low. They'll see.
