you know what's funny about that GIF is that they missed.
January 11th, 2019 at 11:58 AM ^
We can haz nice things in football!
January 11th, 2019 at 11:59 AM ^
Hot damn! DC-in-waiting for when DB retires?
Now we just need a big DL coach hire.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:03 PM ^
I think Patridge would have something to say about that.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:07 PM ^
They can be co-coordinators. That seems to be a trend.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:10 PM ^
I'd be ok with that. Especially if it's the only way to keep Partridge around.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:02 PM ^
BC played Clemson tough in Chestnut Hill. Good hire.
January 11th, 2019 at 5:01 PM ^
DIdnt Purdue light BC up ?
January 11th, 2019 at 5:34 PM ^
Probably? Don't really follow BC, but had cheap tix to see Clemson.

January 11th, 2019 at 12:04 PM ^
That's pretty good, as long as Partridge isn't going anywhere.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:04 PM ^
GO BLUE!!!
January 11th, 2019 at 12:05 PM ^
The SB Nation site for Boston College was NOT happy that he was being interviewed here. This is a good hire. Per Sam's article -
When it comes to recruiting, Campanile is a major presence in the Garden State. He hails from a family that is considered football royalty in North Jersey where his father is a coaching legend and several other family members have also been standouts as players and or coaches. That rich lineage and his own on-field and sideline accomplishments allow his to walk in virtually any door in his home state and be known. That worked to Boston College's advantage. Now it will work to Michigan's.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:08 PM ^
Well one more hire to go. Jim is batting 2-2 so far. Hopefully he makes it 3-3 with his DL hire.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:15 PM ^
It's hard to whiff in the offseason.
Just ask the Lions.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:17 PM ^
Hard, but not impossible. Ask USC.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:31 PM ^
or MSU
January 11th, 2019 at 12:19 PM ^
Very true. But I’ll take this over hiring a 70 year old guy who cant recruit as well as he used to.
January 11th, 2019 at 2:13 PM ^
Lets hope he got worse as a coordinator as well...
January 11th, 2019 at 2:20 PM ^
Or a press conference where they announced the reshuffling of the deck.
January 11th, 2019 at 6:15 PM ^
This right here. I think it just hurt more losing a UM lifer to the dark side. But on paper we are going to be in better shape.
January 12th, 2019 at 12:01 PM ^
He is 69 years old. He coached at Michigan for 13 years of his long coaching career. There was over 20 years between his two stints here. I find his departure to OSU coming directly from UM incredibly distasteful (and likely involves spite despite the apologists) but to call him a "UM lifer" is a bit of a stretch isn't it?
January 11th, 2019 at 12:22 PM ^
Seems like the hires of the last two days have recruiting focuses in the northeast. I'd like to see this next hire be someone who can replace Coach Washington's inroads in Ohio.
January 11th, 2019 at 1:52 PM ^
Is Gattis' focus the Northeast? I thought he was a coastal recruiter with Vandy/PSU/Bama?
January 11th, 2019 at 12:26 PM ^
This is great. I feel like NJ kids in the past 5 years have either been a stud or bust, really nothing in the middle...more studs please!
January 11th, 2019 at 2:28 PM ^
So what would you rate Dwumfor? Definitely not a bust but I am not sure "stud" fits either.
January 11th, 2019 at 2:55 PM ^
Hoping he finishes his race as a stud, else you would be right here. This is his year. My rankings on how his career plays out: 1) He gets hurt. 2) He is a stud. 3) He is a bust.
Hoping like heck he is a stud, we need him to be great in 2019.
January 11th, 2019 at 3:12 PM ^
Kids from NJ ( I believe everyone but Dwumfor is a 4 star (+)):
2019: David Ojabo, could add another
2018: None, Believe we missed on a DT most everyone thought was going Michigan.
2017: Drew Singleton, Brad Hawkins
2016: Gary, Kareem Walker, Ron Johnson, Michael Dwumfor, Ahmir Mitchell
2015: Grant Newsome.
2014: Peppers and JBB.
January 13th, 2019 at 9:28 AM ^
JBB was neither a stud nor a bust
January 11th, 2019 at 12:06 PM ^
I read somewhere that his family is very connected and involved in NJ high school football.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
Yeah I read it from mgowill right up there ☝️
January 11th, 2019 at 12:38 PM ^
I think he added the quote from Sam's article as an edit after his original post.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:11 PM ^
Would make sense - attended and coached at Rutgers until making his way to BC.
January 11th, 2019 at 1:26 PM ^
There is good pork roll in new Jersey.
January 11th, 2019 at 1:29 PM ^
I learned an important lesson. Gotta read carefully when "very connected" and "NJ" are in the same sentence.

The Campanile Football Family of Northern New Jersey
They’ve got ties to several of the top northern New Jersey Catholic prep schools. LINK
Mike Campanile from 1990-1999 was head coach at Paramus Catholic where Jabrill Peppers, Rashan Gary and former Michigan player Drew Singleton played. There, Mike coached his sons Vito who’s now head coach at Bergen Catholic and Nunzio who’s the previous head coach at Bergen Catholic and who coached running backs at Rutgers this past season.
Before joining Michigan, brother Anthony had been at Rutgers and Boston College after he’d been at Don Bosco Prep (Jabrill Peppers’ original high school before he transferred to Paramus Catholic). Brother Nick’s the head coach at DePaul Catholic where Michael Dwumfour and Kareem Walker played.
January 11th, 2019 at 5:31 PM ^
Can Harbaugh please hire Nunzio? We need that for the all-name team, Coaches Edition.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:06 PM ^
Sounds like a solid DB coach. He put several dudes in the NFL.
He played at Rutgers and they never bothered to try to poach him? Sounds about right.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:13 PM ^
He played at Rutgers and they never bothered to try to poach him?
They probably did but he was like ,"lmao, naw dog, i'm good thanks."
January 11th, 2019 at 12:53 PM ^
There comes a point where returning to your alma mater isn’t an attractive option, nor a positive career move. Rutgers is probably at or near the top of the list.
Not to mention, he DID coach at Rutgers. Where they felt it was a good idea to take a guy with an almost entirely defensive background and have him coach the WRs and TEs.
January 11th, 2019 at 1:51 PM ^
Rutgers hired him out of the HS ranks. He was there 4 seasons until Ash was hired and got rid of the old staff. The funny thing is that Ash probably would have tried to poach him if he was already at BC.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:07 PM ^
So BC is the new WVU?
(IE: Michigan's coaching incubator...)
January 11th, 2019 at 2:20 PM ^
So I spend summers in West Virginia, and I'm well known where I live as a rabid Michigan fan. I've talked to some of the locals about this. They're a bit wistful about Beilein going to Michigan, but they're not resentful. They understand Michigan is a big step up, and they don't begrudge Beilein taking that step.
Their view of Rodriguez is different. Their resentment over how all that went down still burns bright. But the resentment is towards the man, not Michigan.
January 11th, 2019 at 2:36 PM ^
Kinda crazy to think how Martin made a brilliant hire for a basketball coach, and utterly bombed in the football hire. Interesting to think how people would feel now if it were the exact opposite.
January 11th, 2019 at 12:09 PM ^
This guy missed his calling as the head of a Mafia crime family, who in his later years gets lazy and is executed with two shots from a .22 to the back of the head while walking to his limo from a restaurant...
January 11th, 2019 at 12:14 PM ^
After looking at his pic, FauxMo - you may have something there...
January 11th, 2019 at 12:20 PM ^
He could pass for a hitman in an organized crime family. I wouldn’t mind if he murdered OSU’s passing offense next November.
