Probably not. I'd go in with the mentality of "we're not gonna get any close plays called in our favor, so we're just gonna have to win with cruelty."
November 20th, 2018 at 12:52 PM ^
The officials will most likely be from Ohio anyway, all with financial ties to OSU. So they know if they call anything close in favor of us their houses will be fertilized and then set ablaze..Keep the game out of the stripes hands and we run away with it boyz!!
November 20th, 2018 at 1:36 PM ^
I know this is hyperbole but if they choose officials with ties to Ohio, Michigan should just quit the league. I am sick of not standing up for ourselves.
I am hoping for fair treatment this time around and get refs who let the game decide the winner and not their whistle.
November 20th, 2018 at 2:04 PM ^
Almost the entire country knows how huge this game is, so why the hell are we using refs from ohio and Michigan. fair should be fair. Agreed.
November 20th, 2018 at 2:06 PM ^
Highly, highly doubtful which is a serious lapse on the conference’s part and an embarrassment, but having that ass bucket crew vs. Indiana should give UM an introduction on how to deal with it and play above it.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:58 PM ^
Home field advantage applies to referees too.
Plus, IIRC the whiniest coach gets the friendly flag over the course of the game.
We got Chaotic Evil (O'Neill) out of the way last week, and it's actually in the conference's best interest for us to win so we're in the playoffs. That means the possibilities are.
1. Competent refereeing, plus home field advantage for OSU.
2. Blatant 2016-level OSU fans as referees.
So...no, we won't get a completely fair shake. I agree with your take that we need to expect some bullshit and plan around it.
November 20th, 2018 at 2:54 PM ^
This sounds made up. Check joined date - yep.
November 20th, 2018 at 3:20 PM ^
It sounds made up because it most definitely is. This is a fake new troll. Ignore it.
November 20th, 2018 at 3:32 PM ^
The ref is from cincy and is a huge Buckeye fan. I am cool with his son.
November 21st, 2018 at 10:51 AM ^
Pretty sure this stupid rumor started because the ref's facebook page had a picture with a Michigan player in it... because HE was in the photo as a referee not because of the player in the photo. But you can't expect OSU fans to follow that logic.
November 20th, 2018 at 2:03 PM ^
On the other hand, the B1G's only shot at a CFP spot (without total chaos) is UM winning the B1G.
And if Jim Delany cares about one thing, it's money.
November 20th, 2018 at 2:18 PM ^
I'm in this camp. I think if there is any bias, it's going to go in our favor to preserve the conference's best shot at the playoffs.
November 20th, 2018 at 11:48 PM ^
I’ll take any advantage we can get at this point.
November 20th, 2018 at 2:36 PM ^
Yeah. The conspiracy theories would seem to be in our favor this week. Plus they owe us a makeup for 2016.
November 20th, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
If there is another 4th and inches type call this year, it's definitely going our way.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:42 PM ^
Must have missed where the ref threw a pick 6 and fumbled at the 1.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:46 PM ^
Try a litany of completely ignored PI calls against OSU while the same if not worse calls were made against UM.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:46 PM ^
They also didn't call a fake punt from their own 27 or make Barrett look like an actual potato for the entire first half. Michigan made mistakes but OSU was a joke and in no way deserved that win. Michigan got hosed, plain and simple.
November 20th, 2018 at 2:49 PM ^
STFU, you can't sit there and say that osu didn't get the benefit of favorable calls or non-calls. There's video and pictorial evidence...so yeah, UM squandered opportunities, but they spent a lot of time overcoming setbacks given to them by the refs.
November 20th, 2018 at 7:18 PM ^
Stop feeding the troll. We’ll see you next year Bigfan. Hold this L.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:46 PM ^
This is ridiculous. Ohio State made huge mistakes in that game, too. If the ref chooses to spot the ball behind the 15-yard line, Michigan wins, and both teams made all the same mistakes. Instead, he threw OSU a lifeline.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:46 PM ^
You probably also missed the part where homeless guys stuff their dicks in your mouth at night. NTTAWWT
November 20th, 2018 at 12:51 PM ^
Not surprising. You were likely celebrating the numerous OSU pass interference, blocks in the back, and offensive and defensive holding penalties that were not called.
November 20th, 2018 at 3:33 PM ^
Just one of many absurdly obvious mistakes made that day. I mean, I could step out there as a fill-in ref this Saturday and know that you throw a flag for that. I'm pretty sure any casual fan could properly throw a flag on that play.
Any ref that doesn't throw a flag for that is intentionally throwing the game. There is NO other explanation (other than stroke or heart attack during the play). No one can f*** up that badly. It was intentional. And there were at least two or three other calls that were just as obviously wrong.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:57 PM ^
You have obviously missed quite a bit in your life. We will just add these items to the list.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:58 PM ^
To this day i will never blame the refs for losing that game. If Wilton doesn't throw an ill advised pass when we are already backed up or fumble it on the goal line that game is clinched going into the 4th.
November 20th, 2018 at 1:09 PM ^
You seem to assume that "our players made mistakes in the game" and "we got screwed by the referees in a way that could easily be argued to have cost us the game" are mutually exclusive. They aren't. Might want to check in to that...
November 20th, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
So if a player makes a couple of mistakes, then that justifies the refs throwing the game to the other team. Okay, got it, tUOS slappy.
November 20th, 2018 at 2:42 PM ^
How is it that there is a Michigan fan who hasn't seen the video.Consider this required viewing prior to the game.
November 21st, 2018 at 12:32 AM ^
This isn't even the best video. There's a longer, more comprehensive and infuriating one. I think some of the above is weak sauce, but they absolutely got hosed. Those guys better not be reffing tomorrow.
November 20th, 2018 at 2:50 PM ^
In regards to just this post - this guy above is not wrong.
November 20th, 2018 at 1:48 PM ^
You clearly missed the grade school lesson that two incorrect outcomes do not approximate a correct one.
November 20th, 2018 at 1:50 PM ^
You must have also missed numerous uncalled instances of pass interference committed by OSU's defense; a dirty hit after the play, committed by OSU and not called by the officials; and several times that OSU's offense committed holding and illegal block in the back all on one play (the one before "the spot"). How on earth did you miss all that? Is your discernment really as bad as that of the officials in the 2016 game??
November 20th, 2018 at 2:46 PM ^
You're right man. The ref called BW3 not once, but twice to telling them to alter Speight's passes into interceptions (one of which led to a direct touchdown, and the other turned into a TD on the ensuing OSU drive). I think the biggest infraction of the game is when the ref had the audacity to look at our QB as he took a snap at the one. His gaze alone caused it and he should be banned from officiating ever again. I know it's a hard pill to swallow, but our favorite team choked, or more specifically Speight did.
November 20th, 2018 at 5:32 PM ^
so are you saying that Ohio State played a perfect game?
November 20th, 2018 at 11:54 PM ^
The play where Curtis Samuel reverses field in OT and there are SEVERAL holds and blocks in the back. That one pisses me off most of all. So egregious. When the ref helped Mike Weber up after a play and patted him on the ass I knew we were fucked.

November 20th, 2018 at 12:45 PM ^
I'm convinced B1G officiating is not "unfair" so much as "incompetent". But the end result is the same. Whatever.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:47 PM ^
I'd be inclined to agree with you except that when the "incompetence" consistently goes against one and only one team on the field, it's no longer "incompetence".
November 20th, 2018 at 12:54 PM ^
and an official touches an OSU player's behind.
November 20th, 2018 at 1:23 PM ^
Go get em' tiger!
November 20th, 2018 at 1:34 PM ^
It wasn't just the butt slap that was the problem. It was the loving stare in the ref's eyes while he was doing it.
If he wasn't a dickless wonder, I'm sure his erection would have been visible on TV.
November 20th, 2018 at 1:12 PM ^

November 20th, 2018 at 12:45 PM ^
I am not sure Urban Meyer is Delaney's poster child anymore - think there was some type of "shenanigans" happening in Columbus earlier this Fall, if I remember correctly. Would guess he would rather see a Jim Harbaugh led Michigan team in the BIG Championship.
With that said - still hope it is one-sided enough that refs can't impact the game.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:47 PM ^
This is my thinking as well. The game should be well enough in control that a bad call or a screwing doesn't decide it. Leaving the outcome up to luck/chance/officiating isn't a good strategy for winning.
November 20th, 2018 at 12:48 PM ^
Are you sure about that....
