New Michigan FB Offer - Amauri Pesek-Hickson
Amauri is a 2019 recruit: 6’3”, 210 lbs athlete out of Kansas City metro area. Was focusing on basketball until this year (and had several offers), but switched back to football for his senior year.

If you thought Ronnie Bell was a good pick up, well this guy looks like Khaleke Hudson (but tall).

We do love us some KC area sleepers.
October 30th, 2018 at 5:36 PM ^
the basketball converts typically have good hands and can high point the ball pretty well.
October 30th, 2018 at 5:42 PM ^
And are good athletes with great feet.
October 30th, 2018 at 7:44 PM ^
We do love us some hyphens.

I read that harbaughs bro in law is a coach in the area and is in his ear about potential recruits. That's how he found out about bell.
Edit: someone mentioned this below
October 30th, 2018 at 3:40 PM ^
Picked up an offer this morning and had an offical visit set up by the afternoon.
October 30th, 2018 at 3:43 PM ^
Will commit immediately after or during his visit just like Bell. Also just like Bell, his only other offer is from Missouri St.
We must have a pretty good scout in that area.
October 30th, 2018 at 4:01 PM ^
Isn't the scout Jim Harbaugh's brother-in-law? I think he's a HS coach (basketball?) in the area.
October 30th, 2018 at 4:13 PM ^
To keep up, Tom Crean should start helping with some of those Georgia recruits.
October 30th, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
Correct on both counts. Harbaugh asked his brother-in-law who are the best football players in KC area, and his brother-in-law said Ronnie Bell.

Was going to say, whoever is scouting there appears to know how to pick 'em. I have been very impressed by Bell
October 30th, 2018 at 5:52 PM ^
Should I have tempered enthusiasm about Ronnie Bell? I remember how excited fans were about Nate Schoenle last year. But we haven't seen him this year. Is Ronnie Bell going to be like that?
October 30th, 2018 at 5:56 PM ^
He has been injured all year.
October 30th, 2018 at 3:49 PM ^
I love the enthusiasm.
October 30th, 2018 at 3:44 PM ^
Am I the only one who actually wasn't super impressed by that highlight film? He seems fast in a straight line, but not very shifty. I definitely wouldn't throw out any Khaleke Hudson comparisons. I'd imagine the staff (who obviously know a lot more about football/recruiting than I do) is looking at Pesek-Hickson as a LB? Maybe a FB?
October 30th, 2018 at 3:54 PM ^
He doesn't have the lowest center of gravity you have ever seen but he knows where the end zone is and how to get there through contact.
October 30th, 2018 at 4:04 PM ^
He's got good hands (judging from how many catches he made in the 1 playoff game so far), and he is shifty in space, to a certain extent. From the gun he made a couple of 40 yard gains as a RB so I don't know why he doesn't have potential as an athlete.
24/7 doesn't have anything on him which I'm fine with, because Ronnie Bell was a steal.
Also his Hudl say he's 220 so there's that.
October 30th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
could be his height...6'3 doesn't look as fast as 5'9
October 30th, 2018 at 4:35 PM ^
In the article he says most likely safety.
October 30th, 2018 at 8:02 PM ^
I read that as well, but 6'3 220 seems pretty big for a Safety.
October 30th, 2018 at 6:57 PM ^
Don't quit your day job.
October 30th, 2018 at 8:01 PM ^
Ok but if he ends up not being a take or contributing much, do you have to quit yours?
October 30th, 2018 at 7:28 PM ^
we still need an outside WR in this class
October 30th, 2018 at 3:48 PM ^
The most Michigan thing ever might be that I thought FB meant fullback and then I was actually disappointed that it did not.
October 30th, 2018 at 3:51 PM ^
I actually think they are offering him as a FB.
October 30th, 2018 at 3:55 PM ^
I would think so as well. Unless the staff is concerned about losing Eric Gray, we certainly don't need another RB in the class.
October 30th, 2018 at 3:55 PM ^
I thought the OP meant fullback too and I was also disappointed that it wasn't. I love fullbacks, we need more of them!
October 30th, 2018 at 4:15 PM ^
Sorry to mislead, I meant football. Personally I think he looks like a great Viper candidate.
Although he does resemble Tommy Tremble from last cycle a bit: an H-back type with plus hands and a frame that could fill out into a powerful blocker someday.
October 30th, 2018 at 3:49 PM ^
Athlete with a hyphenated name from an Iowa border state. How is he not a Hawkeye?
October 30th, 2018 at 3:58 PM ^
I'd guess he ends up at fullback or some similar role. Looks good in that role and a good find.
I think a guy like Ben Mason who is nearly automatic on short yardage situations is undervalued a bit in recruiting rankings given how crucial those plays are from a win expectancy standpoint. It seems like a market inefficiency.
October 30th, 2018 at 4:08 PM ^
Can't tell if he is slow, or just a very patient runner. He makes lot of people miss. Nice instincts.
Would be a very shifty fullback. That would be fun.
October 30th, 2018 at 4:12 PM ^
I like this kid a lot actually, but I can't really decide where his best fit is. I think he's too big for Viper, but I think he could be a RB or big body, possession WR potentially. His running style does kinda remind me of Zach Charbonnet, but less twitchy, where he's not super fast, but runs with good acceleration and strength
October 30th, 2018 at 4:14 PM ^
Looks like former NYG RB Brandon Jacobs to me.
October 30th, 2018 at 4:14 PM ^
Dude looks like a stoopid-athletic H back to these untrained eyes.
October 30th, 2018 at 4:16 PM ^
Film seems to be receiver focused, could he end up being the tall receiver that the coaches still need to find in this class? Has a basketball background so he knows body control, just a thought.
Although fullback/H-back does seem more likely.
October 30th, 2018 at 4:20 PM ^
Good stuff! Go Blue!
October 30th, 2018 at 4:30 PM ^
So he's not just a blocky-catchy guy, but also kind of a runny-thumpy-thwacky guy.
Jack of all trades, sounds like a winner to me.
October 30th, 2018 at 5:21 PM ^
All the split zone and arc action lends itself to H-back types.
McKeon has been filling that role with Mason limited and I'd expect they're also setting up film for some easy catches there. Still not a true H looking guy on the roster other than VanSumeren.
October 30th, 2018 at 5:45 PM ^
All your O'Maury -er- Amauri are belong to us!
October 30th, 2018 at 6:17 PM ^
I am intrigued with the Amauri / O'Maurey backfield. It needs to be a thing. Call it "Povich" personnel.
October 30th, 2018 at 5:56 PM ^
That didn't look like FB tape to me. Wouldn't be surprised if he plays defense.
October 30th, 2018 at 7:49 PM ^
Look at Ben VanSumeren's tape from HS. He didn't look like a FB either, but is now putting on weight. Pesek-Hickson is already 220 or 230, so he could get up to 240-250 FB size during his presumed redshirt
October 30th, 2018 at 7:12 PM ^
I'm just wondering how we're going to sign all these kids. If we win the BIG I gotta believe they're going to be knocking down our door.
October 30th, 2018 at 7:22 PM ^
Lost out on crouch?
October 30th, 2018 at 7:34 PM ^
All this speculation...speculate away. The kid is a very nice athlete. Michigan is at the place where they can bring in a player like this, assess his skills as a red shirt and place them in a position to succeed. Michigan is doing this with a whole bunch of kids right now-in the freshmen class and beyond. He can be anything from an H-back/power RB/FB to WR to viper, LB, safety...to be determined. He doesn't seem to shy away from contact-so it would appear as though all the options are on the table.
October 30th, 2018 at 7:44 PM ^
I think he plays LB. Perhaps not quite fast enough to play S or WR but nice speed and agility for a linebacker. He's clearly big enough, and Michigan could really use another LB recruit after only taking one last year and only having one commitment so far this year.
October 30th, 2018 at 8:58 PM ^
VanSumeren is a LB now, so this guy may be the next blocky catchy guy!
October 30th, 2018 at 10:01 PM ^
VanSumeren has been practicing on both sides of the ball. I think it's a little premature to conclude he's going to play LB long term.
October 30th, 2018 at 11:15 PM ^
Not sure where your getting your info from? Pretty sure he’s been a LB since the second week of the season. He’s not a FB anymore.
October 31st, 2018 at 9:09 AM ^
That's a shame. I really liked his high school offensive film.
