Congrats to Cade McNamara, NV’s all-time leader in passing TDs!
We’re getting yet another great one!
He tied the record with a pass to his brother, and broken it with … a shovel pass … huh.

I think he’s going to be so successful at QB for Michigan, that they rename the main airport terminal after him!!!

"what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul."

A simple "wrong" would have done just fine, but OK...

Just FYI: Trygger, FauxMo and the other 2 replies are all quoting and playing off a scene in the movie Billy Madison.

Don't take it personally.

I don't get this line of thinking at all. If you can net a 5 star stud of a QB then you absolutely should do it regardless of if he's a HS recruit or a transfer.
October 26th, 2018 at 8:55 AM ^
Maybe a coincidence but I am currently at the airport in Reno and Jim McElwain is on my flight. I didn’t get a chance to talk to him but my guess is he’s here to visit Cade during the bye week.

Keep him away from any sharks and we should be alright
October 26th, 2018 at 10:47 AM ^
Fuck that. He's been an awesome WR coach. If the man wants to fuck some sharks to relax, I say we build him an aquarium.

I often forget that Jim Mcelwain is on the staff, and I’m fine with that.
October 26th, 2018 at 10:45 AM ^
If I remember correctly the MSU game telecast showed McElwain in the booth next to Pep, and Warinner on the sidelines, all with what looked like laminated play charts. That is an amazing triumvirate we have calling plays.

My guess would have been the Mustang Ranch and Circus Circus, but you might be right.

He did look pretty relaxed in the terminal.

Honest question, because I just don't know ... where would Cade fall on the Denard/Navarre scale for QB mobility? I see on the internet he has 38 carries for 39 yards, but that could be because that offense isn't QB-run oriented. Any insights?
October 26th, 2018 at 9:30 AM ^
He has good feet. Really good in the pocket and has pocket awareness. He's similar to Shea in terms of athletic ability (maybe a little less). I see him as having enough ability to get a couple yards or a first down here and there, but he's not likely to bust out huge runs.

I'm a big fan of being able to move the chains, so that's great news. Thanks!

He is not that dissimilar to Shea...in many ways. Very quick feet, excellent escapability, is a pass-first guy but is outstanding on the run going both left and right, sees the field very well and trusts his receivers. The most important thing about him is that he is off the charts when it comes to the "it" factor. The kid is a born leader. I shake my head with his interviews...OMG...this is a 17/18 year old kid!!! You have got to be kidding me!!! And here is why I am all in on Jim Harbaugh...this is who he recruits.
In high school he actually takes too many chances...so his interception rate is a bit high. Technically they will clean him up...needs a fair amount...but he is clearly one who will put in the work. The kid is a player...someone you, as a coach, will have great confidence in running your offense.

Congrats Cade!
Guess they finally retro engineered that Alien technology.

saw him play earlier this year in person. very impressive, quick release, very strong arm, and very mobile. looks to me just like the other qbs that michigan has now. great qb instincts. can tell he doesn't get rattled easy and appears to be a great leader.
October 26th, 2018 at 1:24 PM ^
I am surprised at how awful his OL is, at least in his junior year highlights. Very nimble feet, even if the offense doesn't have designed QB runs.
October 26th, 2018 at 3:01 PM ^
correct. like i said i saw him in person earlier this year and he is very good at getting out of trouble. one thing that is really overlooked with qbs is just because they don't have alot of rushing yards doesn't mean they arn't athletic.those type tend to use their abilities to keep their eyes downfield, instead of taking off running. you can really see that with shea.
October 26th, 2018 at 9:37 PM ^
I thought McElwain was the WRs coach, and Pep Hemilton the QBs coach. I never did believe someone the caliber of McElwain was just coaching WRs. And I’m fine with it. The more input McElwain has the better. Hope he’s given the whole passing game soon.

This kid will probably be waiting in the wings, ready after McCaffrey is gone! I think Harbaugh is brilliant !
