We really should have had more faith, Pat Fitzgerald loses to us in really stupid ways and heartbreaking ways.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:25 PM ^
When we went down by 17 I still had confidence for this very reason. Must be how Ohio State feels when they play us.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:30 PM ^
I was never really worried either. But I can't stomach giving you the upvote, for obvious reasons. . . Too real.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:46 PM ^
This one was a lot less fluky than the others though - we outplayed them significantly over the last three quarters.
October 1st, 2018 at 10:18 AM ^
Agree with you! It was not a fluky game at all. Being in the stadium, Michigan fans never really seemed to think it would be a loss. They had control of the game starting in the second quarter but it was a slog to finally take the lead. To me, that was better for the team's morale than a blowout would have been. Got punched in the mouth a few times, but came back and kept pushing, despite all the penalties!! There were a lot of times in the game where Michigan teams past would have folded.

Hey, I'm happy. A W, a comeback, a W on the road.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:20 PM ^
And a sack to end the game.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:22 PM ^
Down 17-0 and we come back to win 20-17, i need a drink.... go blue!
September 29th, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
On me! Grabbed a bottle of Seagrams whiskey at the half b/c that’s all the corner store had, haha.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:48 PM ^
Now you have to go to that same corner store at the half of every game we are trailing, now until eternity. Seagrams, please!
September 29th, 2018 at 9:33 PM ^
Oh man, no way I’m saying what I did halftime;/
September 29th, 2018 at 8:22 PM ^
i'm down with the positivity. i'm also down for an ohio state and notre dame lose to round out the evening.
September 29th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
I think Michigan benefits from both winning. I doubt ND runs the table and I would rather Michigan plays an undefeated OSU.
September 30th, 2018 at 6:56 AM ^
Penn State needed to loose. Other than Michigan, they have a very winnable schedule the rest of the year.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:24 PM ^
People in the game thread were freaking out. Yes, they came out flat, and yes there were too many penalties.
but college football is survive and advance. One game rarely bleeds into another, whether for better or worse.
So just relax. Have a drink, and enjoy PSU and OSU beating the crap out of each other.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:33 PM ^
Game thread was entertaining...guess they forgot how often Fitz's kitties find ways to lose to Michigan. I was concerned BUT confident NW would revert to NW.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:25 PM ^
I need a Xanax after that. I don't have any Xanax. I don't even know how you feel after taking one. I just know I need one now.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:30 PM ^
It feels nice. Happy thoughts and all.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:34 PM ^
I have some in its generic Alprazolam form!
September 29th, 2018 at 8:25 PM ^
I will take an ugly win over a pretty loss any day of the week.
Plenty to criticize, but when you walk out with the W you did something right.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:26 PM ^
BOOM! Ran on a top 20 defense! Great win to build off of.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:29 PM ^
Passed pretty well too!
September 29th, 2018 at 8:27 PM ^
The game wasn't a work of art but coming back from 17 down has only happened a handful of times in school history. Like in the NCAA Tournament . . . survive and advance.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:27 PM ^
The better team won.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:30 PM ^
I think there is a silver lining to this game. I think they will realize they can't come out flat no matter who they play the rest of the year. Shea saved us the game and I'm really happy he's our QB. Ugly win but thankfull for the win. Go blue.
September 29th, 2018 at 10:05 PM ^
Sparty will lose to Northwestern.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:31 PM ^
There are still some significant holes and youth in the team, but they have a lot of talent and they fight hard.
I was impressed with Shea under pressure late in the game. So many times in the past, M has been burned by QBs with feet who can run. Its nice to have one of our own under center. He has a great arm too.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:34 PM ^
Woot woot ?
September 29th, 2018 at 8:34 PM ^
Meh, a win is good. Not every game is going to feel great, but all that matters that that we win on the road.
Also, this is exactly the type of game we’d lose last year. Nice to get a W.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:35 PM ^
Our fans decide to wear blue instead of MAZE and blend in with the NW fans... That is dumb.
September 29th, 2018 at 9:22 PM ^
I would stop short of saying we have a smart fanbase when it comes to atmosphere savvy. Even on here last week, I saw that a couple of people proudly said they were going to wear blue even with the maize out planned. Sad...
September 29th, 2018 at 10:26 PM ^
The most important thing is that they make noise to support the team. Colors don't make much of a difference.
September 30th, 2018 at 7:39 AM ^
Blue not = to Purple
September 29th, 2018 at 8:36 PM ^
We got some studs on the d line that needed a game to get some confidence in. Dwumfour, Paye, and uche definitely got that tonight.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:36 PM ^
Well, I am super happy I fell asleep before the game and woke up only after we were ahead. Another stress free Michigan victory!
September 29th, 2018 at 8:37 PM ^
Compared to previous comebacks of 17 points, this one was probably the least ugly all around, if you can believe it.
For 1995 Virginia, we left points on the field before the 4th quarter and missed what were normally easy field goal attempts by Remy Hamilton.
For 2003 Minnesota, we gave up a school record 400+ rushing yards.
For Braylonfest against Sparty, we waited until 7 minutes were left in the game before finally throwing the damn ball.
Tonight, there was no turnovers and a dominant second half on defense. But too many penalties, incompetent officiating and putrid offense in the first half.
September 29th, 2018 at 9:09 PM ^
Nail on the head...really felt like "one of those games" as it wore on. A game in which the team seems extremely flat, and does what good teams do, steal a win on a night they coulda/shoulda lost...
September 29th, 2018 at 10:14 PM ^
The 19 point comeback in 2008 against Wisconsin felt like a lot of luck.
September 30th, 2018 at 2:43 AM ^
It was pretty similar to this game in my opinion. Michigan started that game playing like complete garbage first half, and then they got all kinds of momentum in the second half. Also that Wisconsin team turned out to not be that good.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:40 PM ^
Fantastic performance by the D in the second half and an outstanding comeback by the offense, no matter how brutally hard the shithole refs made it.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:40 PM ^
Please forgive me MGoGods for I have sinned. I had doubt and insulted my MGoBrethren. Please spare me Bolivia!
I love you all!
September 29th, 2018 at 8:42 PM ^
We all had doubts. Say ten The Team The Team The Teams and your transgressions are absolved.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
This team will have to play very well to beat the best teams on its schedule. But with that defense and that quarterback, they have a chance to have a very good season. If the OL can improve......
September 30th, 2018 at 12:55 AM ^
I thought the OL played better than expected. A few coverage sacks but people weren't in Shea's face all night.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:43 PM ^
They shouldn’t have been in the position to come back from 17. The offense is dated and needs a ton of work if they want to be able to even compete with good teams moving forward.
September 30th, 2018 at 10:59 AM ^
You realize that even the best teams have off nights?? Unless you’re Alabama there are times they will struggle... hell for the second year in a row Clemson looked like shit against srycuse.
September 30th, 2018 at 11:39 AM ^
Go to another thread please, there is plenty of them full of the poopie people.
September 29th, 2018 at 8:45 PM ^
Well Don Brown said their goal is to not allow more than 17 points a game. So far it's working.
