OT- Bills CB Vontae Davis quits at half
He put on his steer clothes and left. I can't remember ever hearing something like this before.

Street clothes*
September 16th, 2018 at 5:36 PM ^
I had a set of steer clothes once. They were a little snug.
September 16th, 2018 at 6:12 PM ^
Steer clothes? Sounds like Davis is giving up football for the cowboy life. Yippee ki yay, my brother!
September 16th, 2018 at 6:41 PM ^
Steer clothes?
He must mean ass-less chaps.
Is he from Texas?
September 16th, 2018 at 8:31 PM ^
That would be a bum steer.
September 16th, 2018 at 9:05 PM ^
Tight analysis ...
September 16th, 2018 at 5:29 PM ^
Power move and I don't blame him.
September 16th, 2018 at 10:59 PM ^
I do. He left his team down to two cornerbacks (their third was hurt earlier in the first half) and they had to use the spare safety as nickel back. they couldn't have played dime if they wanted to.
(of course, being the bills, they were already so far down they didn't HAVE to play dime.)
I realize this isn't popular these days, but life isn't solely about doing what you want. we have responsibilities to other people, as much as we attempt to minimize or even eradicate them.
September 17th, 2018 at 12:32 AM ^
He quit his job playing football. I'm not sure his responsibilities were super important to the world. If anything he just got some kid on the practice squad a chance to succeed in his dreams.
September 17th, 2018 at 4:28 AM ^
I don't disagree, but football is brutal and I see no harm in calling it quits when you're done taking the punishment, especially when you're sacrificing yourself for such a garbage organization.
September 17th, 2018 at 8:37 AM ^
Finish the game, man ...
September 16th, 2018 at 5:36 PM ^
This would be perfect if it was a Nathan Peterman start.
September 16th, 2018 at 9:55 PM ^
Lol he ragequit
September 16th, 2018 at 5:42 PM ^
Why? What am I missing? Is this a contract dispute thingy? I'm way out of touch with the NFL this year.
September 16th, 2018 at 6:22 PM ^
Probably partly because the Bills are probably the worst team in the NFL right now and Buffalo is probably the least flashy / attractive city in the NFL to start with so the dude just said forget this, I’m out
September 16th, 2018 at 6:28 PM ^
What's this "probably" shit?
September 16th, 2018 at 6:33 PM ^
Detroit and Cleveland exist.
September 16th, 2018 at 7:56 PM ^
None of you have anything on least flashy city. See my username.
September 16th, 2018 at 8:29 PM ^
Shouldn't it spell cheesehead?
Or is there a town called Chee Shead?
September 16th, 2018 at 9:01 PM ^
Oh I made a typo it when I registered ten years ago and don't want to go through the bother of making a new account. But you understand the gist.
September 16th, 2018 at 9:14 PM ^
Got it, that's very understandable. Maybe one of the mods could fix it for you, or send an email to Seth so you wouldn't have to make a new account.
September 16th, 2018 at 11:06 PM ^
You can just change your username at any time. I've done it...
Maybe you can't anymore though. Who knows.
September 17th, 2018 at 4:22 AM ^
This is commitment.

The Lions are on line 1 waiting to talk to you.
September 16th, 2018 at 7:01 PM ^
I guess you have never been to Green Bay. The flashiest of cities.
September 16th, 2018 at 7:52 PM ^
The Packers at least have the franchise prestige that the Bills seem to lack
September 16th, 2018 at 8:26 PM ^
Green Bay is highly underrated, except for the rat problem.
September 16th, 2018 at 10:35 PM ^
Braised rat is delicious. Paired with a good Chianti and Fava Beans.
September 16th, 2018 at 7:05 PM ^
Buffalo is actually a really nice city, surprising enough, but I agree about the organization.
September 16th, 2018 at 7:54 PM ^
Yeah, I’m sure it is in the grand scheme of the US. But I imagine its probably 31st or 32nd on most attractive NFL city to NFL players
September 16th, 2018 at 8:36 PM ^
Wouldn't that be a terrible look to owners/coaches of other teams?
September 16th, 2018 at 8:47 PM ^
He retired...so I doubt he cared how it looked to other teams
September 16th, 2018 at 5:46 PM ^
Going out on a high note?
September 16th, 2018 at 9:06 PM ^
George Costanza approves.
September 16th, 2018 at 6:06 PM ^
Reason number 4664446899654 why I prefer college football to the pros.
September 16th, 2018 at 8:41 PM ^
Which is..?
September 16th, 2018 at 9:28 PM ^
College players don’t leave mid game. Mostly because they’re financially insecure.
September 16th, 2018 at 10:04 PM ^
Stanfords entire team quit with 8 minutes remaining of a 49-0 blowout in the inaugural 1902 rose Bowl against Michigan. Just saying.
September 16th, 2018 at 6:09 PM ^
The man has lost his desire to suit up for the Bills every week. Who can blame him?
September 16th, 2018 at 7:01 PM ^
Yeah no big deal as the entire lions team quit at the half of last week's game.
September 16th, 2018 at 6:12 PM ^
That’s awesome.
September 16th, 2018 at 6:20 PM ^
Ha. Must suck to be on that team right now
September 16th, 2018 at 6:52 PM ^
I think the guarantee is only on the team's end - you still get paid if they decide to let you go. If you decide to leave, that breaks the contract.
September 16th, 2018 at 6:53 PM ^
Yes, although they may ask him to reimburse them for all the wings he ate in camp.
September 16th, 2018 at 9:09 PM ^
Signing bonus, yes; guaranteed salary, no.
The team can take steps to try to recoup some of the signing bonus (see: Johnson, Calvin).

Also see Sanders, Barry.
