Karon Higdon Bandwagon
First post ever and exceptionally dangerous since I’ve been consumed with life and have not been keeping up. Call it the hangover from last years sorrowful ending.
But, with B1G media days on BTN and the Karon Higdon info coming out (and maybe knowing I won’t have to deal with MK sleeping on BM this year...jk) I’m super excited.
Karin has put on weight, increased speed and strength but maybe most impressive to me is the passion and confidence that is oozing out of him. He was quick to jump on questions in his team interview, he has had powerful self-reflection that led to improved workouts (maybe I took a shortcut) and his overall demeanor seems eager to show to the world what transformations have occurred this off season
I think Karon’s excitement bodes well for how he is feeling about the offense’s potential and I personally am all aboard the hype train Choo Chooo!!!
anyone agree? Or dare to derail my EUTM!
Spelled Karan multiple ways, yet still not correct once
Beat me to it. Seriously, with 4 attempts and multiple variations one would think odds alone would have OP stumbling into a correct spelling of Karan at least once.
There are only 5.5 vowels in the alphabet. How many tries does one need?
6 at least. Maybe 7.
If at first you don't succeed: fail, fail again.
TBH it seemed so unlikely that I assumed it was intentional... just couldn't figure out why
Two vowels in the name. Y can be considered as a vowel too. 6 possibilities per vowel in name. Answer is: 6^2 or 36 possibilities. So a person could need 36 tries to get it right!!!
PS - Not a math major.
You should have majored in math, because I want to know how many attempts you'd need when also considering the three consonants that make up the non-vowel letters in his name.
I could be wrong, but I think that would be 5! possibilities.
5x4x3x2x1
So 120 possibilities maybe?
This would be true if you weren't allowed to repeat a letter. You'd have a pretty low chance of spelling Karan correctly following that rule.
Nooo, this is horribly wrong. Too late in the day to claim I haven't had coffee yet?
(21^3) × (5^2)
*assuming you know there are 3 consonents, 2 vowels, and you know the order is c-v-c-v-c. And that you're not including "y" as a consonent. Or "w" I guess.
There are two words in the English language that use the letter "w" as a vowel.
The first is "cwm" pronounced "coom" which is the basin at the bottom of a mountain sometimes containing a lake and the other is "crwth" which is an ancient celtic musical instrument. So, it could have been Karwn.
HatTip for this from the Celt/Bohemians among us, however few they be.
All I know is I'm a huge fan of this Karyn higdon guy.
I’m honestly impressed with the attempts. Carry on.
Higgdon is good, but he needs at least Ruddock-level QB play or it won’t matter.
I'd go with カラン.
I was all aboard the KH (since I guess we are doing initials for everyone now) hype train when I saw him interact with his daughter in the Amazon series.
Going off Bo's criteria for a good football team (what kind of husbands you are, what type of father you've become), Karan has already set high expectations.
Oh yeah? Well I've been on the bandwagon since his one good run against Northwestern as a Freshman! :P
Wouldn't be surprised if he's the offensive captain choice. Pics of him working out showed him to be jacked and having a little girl to raise makes him highly motivated. Looking for big things from him and Evans.
Not doubting you particularly, but a year ago before fall camp a poster was making threads about how Higdon would be the clear starter. I think it was his highschool coach? Many people doubted him and said Evans would be the man.
Yes, I believe it was mgostrength. I remember the post well and was one of the doubters. TBH, I was sarcastically trying to one-up the poster above, just for laughs.
I really did love that cut he made in the Northwestern game though. Glad he ended up being this good, and hopefully he continues to grow as a player.
Yep, the Amazon series made Higdon my favorite player. Seems like such a likeable, hard-working guy.
Ok, doing an <img src="... " /> in source does not work, despite the preview of the gif showing up before I posted. Then I tried the file upload way and it says the image can't be more than 2mb. I give up, here's the link: https://media.giphy.com/media/AOhgmFQZU41rO/giphy.gif
This might be a meta-flavored comment, but what is happening with images lately? Lots of the red "x". Is it an issue with the site? User error?
Issue with the site when trying to embed html code from the Source editor. Though user error would probably also result in a red x
Red Locked maybe.
Sad days for the blog. A great gif like that isn't the same when you have to click through.
Come on dude, you could've spelled his name wrong at least three more times and still not gotten it right!
But I agree: Go Karan!
He really came to life during the Indiana game last year. He also had great games against Rutgers and Minnesota. He is the real deal with some blocking. Evans is a very good change of pace back too. Now, can we find that third wheel? The gap between RB1a/1b and RB3 is significant!
Hopefully one of Wilson, Samuels, Taylor, or the freshman come in with fire and take that spot!
So the Tru Wilson hype a few weeks back was due to lack of options, not increased ability?
I’m surprised people thought it was because Tru Wilson increased ability. Samuels was very underwhelming in his time last year. Hoping Turner is ready but the kid from St Louis might be have to get run because he is a bigger stronger back right now.
Despite this last haul RB recruiting hasn’t gone as people love to claim. Higdon is a solid back and Evans was meh last year. But still waiting for a stud to grace the position especially with how Jim loves to run the ball.
Evans might have been *meh* last year, but IIRC, in most of the UFRs that this blog did, it was pretty clear that at least a big % of his mediocre performance was just some disproportionate bad luck RE: blocking & play set ups compared to Higdon's snaps. Not quite to the level of "poor damn Evans," but close.
Could be wrong, but that's what my memory of the UFRs were.
I think you're remember correctly. Evans won't break many tackles or generate yards after contact, but my eyeballs tell me that improved a little last year.
Higdon was a good back once the OC-by-committee decided manball was the path forward.
Agreed on Evans on his running style. I know for a fact at the end of 2016 he admitted he hit a bit of an endurance wall towards the end of the season--adjust from high school to college. Last year Evans definitely seemed a bit thicker/durable. Not to the same level as a power back of course (and absolutely not like how 2018 Higdon looks to be), but enough meat on the bones to take a bit more than when he was a frosh.
Yep - And by that logic the supposed rising tide of the OL will be great for all of our RB ships.
Gotta imagine Evans will be utilized more if things get spread out as rumored by Chase.
I like Evans and what he brings. IMO part of his meh year was how he was used not being part of some so called bad luck.
There is is no reason Michigan shouldn’t have multiple formations where they are both in the game this year.
The Higdon Hype Train Thread is the perfect place to remind you not to count out Samuels. They had very similar freshman years. Higdon: 11 Att, 19 yds, 1.7 avg and Samuels: 8 Att, 13 yds, 1.6 avg
Relax, apparently Hassan Haskins is a 5 star.
Do we need a 3rd back? How many teams say "man, we were so close to achieving our goals, if only we had found RB #3."
what's been lost in the bitching about last year is how phenomenal our running game was. I don't think many people realize just how close this team was to being very good. And with so many pieces coming back I really don't think the odds of an elite season are as low as people think.
I think it's more a worry that if Higdon goes down, it would also severely limit the effectiveness of Evans who is a better fit as a change of pace back than an every-down load guy.
This is overanalyzing to extreme levels. Evans could be a feature back if he needs to, and we have pretty good depth at RB.
I have to go with Sam on this one. We need a third RB that can contribute. Evans would get worn down by season's end if he was the feature back.
That's fine and you're entitled to your opinion. But couldn't we say this about pretty much every position? "We are screwed if player X goes down and we don't have an adequate backup."?
That's fair, but certain position groups take more of a physical beating over the course of a year.
