Speaking of Recruits Trending Away From Michigan, Kyle Ford Has Had a Slew of Crystal Balls to USC
Attempted Link to Player Profile:
"Trending" implies recent movement.
USC has always had all of his balls wrapped up.
Before he had like 5 predictions which could easily be construed as people making an educated guess to earn more points. But 5 more in the last 24 hrs implies that he is all be committed to USC. At least at the moment.
These predictions are all coming in because Oregon just got a 4th WR commit and are probably out of the Ford sweepstakes.
2 new, 1 from July 2 and 7 old if we're keeping score.
Not worried at all. We recruited four last year and two red shirted. I don't think we were seriously ever in the running, anyway.
We recruited 4 WRs two years ago and took just 1 or 2 last year (depending on how you characterize Barrett. Brian says we took one and calls Bell "a flyer"). We are probably going to have a significant gap in the future if we don't get someone in this class.
Well, if any recruits have paid any attention to our passing game over the last two years, they probably don't care to come to Michigan. But the fact is we have two four star WR's (one who looks like a 5*) with freshman eligibility on the squad this year. I don't think anyone in their right mind ever thought we were going to pull a high 4* from LA.
We'll get a WR or two in this class but not this guy.
Tell Kalil Branham that.
EDIT: Also, tell George Johnson.
OMG! Scrap the program already......
sigh
He was always a longshot. We would love to get him, and not all hope is lost. Regardless, there are a lot of outstanding players who have chosen Michigan and many more who will in the future. We have plenty of talent to compete with the big boys.
I know it’s heresy around here to say bad things about Beilein these days but his recruiting has always been shit when it comes to wide receivers.
What??? When did Beilein start recruiting wide receivers?
Maizen told me that Beilein couldn’t recruit basketball players so he started going after football players.
when Carton bailed on us, he decided to pursue Ford.
The last good wide receiver to play basketball for Michigan was Paul Jokisch, and he was way before Beilein’s time.
Tai Streets doesn’t appreciate your comment.
Kelvin Grady?
He said "good."
TBH, it's just a position mismatch deal. Several of his recruits would have made great wide receivers, but he keeps sticking them in at guard instead WTH.
Fire Beliein!
He was always going to go to USC. Nice we were being considered.
We're still being considered. We have quintuple as many CBs for him today as we did a week ago, and we were still being considered then.
GO BLUE
WestQuad - I know I’m late to the party but was on campus finally after years away and you’re looking sharp after your $112M makeover.
Get a room.
When I walk around the campus these days, I'm always amazed at how much its changed since the day I arrived there as a freshman in 1977. Certainly, a huge amount of money has been spent replacing and renovating buildings like West Quad. One of the most amazing makeovers is the whole area of the campus around the power plant area where all the new life science buildings are. That area is unrecognizable compared to my days on campus when it was the arm pit of central campus.
Gee, what a surprise, Obvious.
I believe all his balls have been USC - he is a long shot - Cornelius Johnson is more likely for us
Not surprising. SoCal WR's of his caliber go to USC- and they will get the ballz until there is a really good reason to think they will end up elsewhere.
I love the direction of our program but when the hell is Michigan going to overachieved? What's aggravating is MSU doing well with lower ranked classes and PSU winning the Fing big10 after sanctions. Irks me to no end. We need to win and win this year to win these recruiting wars going forward. Crushing USC for old times sake wouldn't hurt either.
Start college football already!
It’s hard enough to overachieve and you’re asking us to overachieved - that requires time travel so the chances are slim.
Thinking a WR from California was going to come to Michigan was your first mistake.
Yeah it's been a whole 2 years since that happened
Asiasi left and Crawford couldn't catch.
He didn’t say good receivers from CA that stick around.
You mean a top CA kid who lives right in USC’s backyard doesn’t want to leave LA? Much less come to the other side of the country?
Color me shocked.
Unpossible—an elite WR from southern California has never stayed home to play for USC before. They’ve always come to the midwest to play for Michigan until Harbaugh was hired.
We do have a great chance. He hasn't even visited yet. Calm down.
CALM DOWN..hell no..this is Mgoblog there will be none of that "calming down" BS around here...PANIC!!! is much more fun :)
