Ohio's home blacks feature metal bulkhead mesh printed in light gray on the shoulders. Might look nice in maize and blue.

Blasphemy.

MACtion on a Wednesday night...feels kind of dirty, yet oddly satisfying.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:13 PM ^
Ohio with a nice handoff on third and short to the BG 20. The QB profits from a bad corner angle from BG and picks up three.
Pass is working, runs up the middle working.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:14 PM ^
Beau Blankenship's role is to be beat up every 20 feet or so, but it works for the Bobcats.
...and we have a TD with less than 6 minutes played. 7-0 Bobcats. We have full MACtion.

The celebration/fight song featured prominently in my HS marching band's rep.

Should have stayed in the endzone, for sure.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:18 PM ^
BG returns the ball to the 13 instead of taking the 25-yard touchback, and caps its mastery of the field by dropping an easy screen pass.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:20 PM ^
Not sure if I've ever seen a QB pass for -8 and catch for -8 on the same play before. Mastery indeed.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:23 PM ^
Ohio kindly returns the favor by losing 6 on the first play of its next possession.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:19 PM ^
and accepts the sack. :D
November 7th, 2012 at 8:23 PM ^
The Falcons' QB more or less receives his own pass and gets tackled for a loss of 8 yards, forcing a punt. It isn't every day that a pass breakup turns into an almost textbook reception for the guy who threw the pass.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:31 PM ^
False start negates a pretty third down conversion for BG. Pity.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:36 PM ^
Did I miss something or did about seven Falcons just miss a tackle in the same pile? There was an eerie delay there too, which made me think - initially - the RB was down. My bad. #MACtion
November 7th, 2012 at 8:38 PM ^
BG blocks an Ohio punt! The Falcons sent 6 men and overloaded the 3-man spread punt wall.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:39 PM ^
End of 1st 7-0 Ohio.
November 7th, 2012 at 8:43 PM ^
1st play of the 2nd quarter, draw play goes for 15 and a TD for the Falcons.

The northeast-southeast running game is still getting first downs for the Bobcats. I think they should have stuck with it there.
Also, BG does an Isiah Lewis impersonation and gives the ball right back to the Bobcats. In the MAC, that could be the game with 11:45 to go in the 2nd.

Stokes is #16 for the Falcons. Hopefully, he makes some plays tonight.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:02 PM ^
Wow. Beuatifully executed fake by the Falcons and the Bobcats bought every single bit of it. 55 yard reception for a TD. 14-7 BGSU now.
Meanwhile, in the offensive backfield, "You mean he didn't have the ball? What happened just then?"
November 7th, 2012 at 9:09 PM ^
--QB runs out of bounds rather than throw the ball away.
--Punter drops the snap and runs fruitlessly.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
The drop may not have looked as bad if it didn't appear to be in the form of, "What a lovely fall even....OMG THE FOOTBALL!"
If nothing else, he did fight to give the Falcons slightly less awesome field position.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:22 PM ^
Remember when everyone said "Who's going to beat Ohio? They'll be favored in every game! They'll go undefeated!!!". This is why you don't extrapolate a whole season from 3 or 4 games
November 7th, 2012 at 9:30 PM ^
But they were ranked! Only a very special MAC team can hope to crack the top 20-25 teams in the nation.
November 7th, 2012 at 9:29 PM ^
Ohio relinquishes a Safety for good measure before the half. 19-7 Falcons.
November 7th, 2012 at 10:13 PM ^
My daughter is a grad student down there... she doesn't give a crap about football, but since a nice chunk of my change has gone into BGSU's coffers I'm rooting for them. I went to a game there a couple of years ago against Kent State... what a bizarre experience compared to watching a game inside Michigan Stadium.

The Falcons' horizontal passing game needs to be...a little less horizontal, and definitely in bounds a little more often. Still, the Falcons punt it away and the Bobcats get a shot at taking the lead on their own 16....
November 7th, 2012 at 10:36 PM ^
Ohio's special teams unit has been absolutely atrocious. The ST coach literally threw his hands up in the air on that last punt block like "WTF is happening?".
Bowling Green has been pretty impressive -- though Ohio has really laid an egg with this one. It should make the MAC race more interesting the last few weeks of the season.

HeadtoHeadRadio Sources tell H2H Robert Nkemdiche has decommited from Clemson. 11/7/12 10:37 PM |
So I guess Clemson Clemson'd his recruitment?

ESPN's got MAC level announcers on duty too, huh?
November 7th, 2012 at 11:08 PM ^
but they have a ton of teams with good records right now. 6 teams are better than 6-3 including Kent State (8-1), Toledo (7-2), Northern Illinois (9-1) and Ohio (8-1). Usually the MAC seems to be the team with a champion that has an overall record of 7-5 with a 6-2 conference record. Looks like they may have one or two teams with one-loss seasons and they may even have a title game featuring two ranked opponents

Since I'm a student at BGSU I went out and celebrated our victory. Good thing OU doesn't practice punt pro at practice.
May we run the ball equally as well against NW.
