Titus Young hahaha
October 30th, 2011 at 4:28 PM ^
Titus Young contributing early. I think his continued progression would really add another dimension to this team.
October 30th, 2011 at 4:33 PM ^
I don't think I've ever seen a receiver that open.
October 30th, 2011 at 4:36 PM ^
Jeremy Gallon wasn't even that open against ND
October 30th, 2011 at 4:38 PM ^
2nd round of the playoffs, when Charles Rogers ran an inside route against us and some how I had over the top coverage. It really didn't turn out that well.....
October 30th, 2011 at 4:47 PM ^
They've been blaming that stuff on the lack of summer practice time. Still, after 8 weeks??
October 30th, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
Nice to join you all for another Lions game.
Have my opinion everyone! I have no respect for Tebow. The more I hear about him, the more contempt I have for him.
I don't like to see players get hurt - even if it's the opponent's best player - but I won't be bothered if he goes down hard.
October 30th, 2011 at 4:52 PM ^
Is it Tebow himself that bothers you? Or just simply the fact that he gets so much airtime on every single show devoted to NFL coverage...despite not doing a whole heck of a lot on the field yet?
If it's the latter, I'm with you...there is an ungodly amount of hashing and rehashing that occurs on those shows (my patience and tolerance of this has steadily decreased over the last few years). But otherwise, I think he's just a fiery guy who's very confident in his beliefs and values, and that will permeate EVERY aspect of his life (as it should, if he's truly as devout a Christian as he appears). But yes, that can certainly grate on people, I get it.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:10 PM ^
He's like the crazy guy on the street corner telling you about how you're going to hell.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:27 PM ^
I think the disdain is due as much to anti-Christian attitudes among the secular than anything Tebow does.

I think people forget that bigotry exists everywhere among all groups. The anti-Tebow animus some display is an example of this.
October 30th, 2011 at 6:08 PM ^
Seriously? You don't think there could possibly be some other reason why people don't like him? I don't mind him, but I could see his habit of constantly giving Jesus credit for his performance in football giving some of the more rational Christians (i.e. ones who don't think Jesus cares about football) some fits.
I've also heard some Christians being annoyed with him because of how much he is admired for his missionary service. So he went to a third-world country for 2 weeks. Is that actually impressive to anyone?
Regardless of one's beliefs, at some point it's just annoying to listen to someone banging on about the same thing, especially when his performance hasn't lived up to his draft position, his endorsement deals, or his popularity.
October 30th, 2011 at 6:42 PM ^
But I also am aware that a lot of secularists do not like Christians for a variety of reasons. People throughout this land automatically dislike others simply because of their religion, race, gender, and politics. I have found this in all groups.

Bigotry is universal.

Unfortunately, you are correct. In any case, I think people who are outspoken tend to catch more attention, and thus, more flak. In Tebow's I don't view him as a "hellfire and brimstone" preacher-type, just a guy who stands that strong in his faith. As a lifelong Christian myself, I respect him totally for this (though my style of expressing my beliefs may tend to be more muted).
In terms of Tebow giving Jesus credit for everything he does on the football field, that's just an extension of him viewing Jesus as the source of all his gifts and talents (and thus, the opportunities to impact people's lives in a positive way). It's not simply about Jesus caring about football ...though I believe He's a Michigan fan.
And I think that's just about enough of that for now, just wanted to fully share my piece.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
Yeah I hear you man. I'm sure Tebow's a great guy and a good team mate, but ESPN has ruined him for me. They did the same for Favre (who did have at least a hand in it I guess).
October 30th, 2011 at 4:56 PM ^
Spoken like a true Sparty.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:05 PM ^
Wow, you're a tool.
October 30th, 2011 at 6:05 PM ^
Tebow doesn't personally bother me, but the the way the media pushes him is repulsive. My circle of friends and I call this "Care Rape". I feel the same way about the Cowboys, Yankees, Lakers, and Heat.
October 30th, 2011 at 6:13 PM ^
...catchphrase for this.
I also feel like the media does the same thing with Crosby in the NHL. I mean, fine, the guy is a great player but I don't need to have everything he does pushed on me 24/7.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
October 30th, 2011 at 10:27 PM ^
That's classic.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:19 PM ^
I'm no "fan" of Tebow, but he is without question, the best collegiate player of my lifetime. I just never thought his skill set would translate to NFL success. Off the field he sounds like a stand up guy, and pro spoorts could certainly use more of those.
Edit: Best Collegiate Football player

Without question? Are you kidding me?
He was the most pushed. He was a good leader, but never did that much on the field to WOW you.
Shawn Crable pegged Tebow pretty well when he said he was a guy who could both run and pass but wasn't exactly great at either one.
October 31st, 2011 at 5:54 AM ^
I would take 2005 Vince Young over Tebow.
October 31st, 2011 at 8:07 AM ^
anyone who watched his games at OSU, at Oklahoma, and essentially "at" USC in the Rose Bowl knows that VY in '05 was better than anything Tebow ever did.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:12 PM ^
Since the first drive the Lions have been playing fantastic D. Tebow has like 3 completions.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:13 PM ^
What a catch by Sheffler!
October 30th, 2011 at 5:16 PM ^
Man, I figured Scheffler would have had a better TD dance prepared for his former team.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:17 PM ^
anyone know where i can watch the game online?

Is just one of those pickups that show Mayhew knows what he's doing.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:21 PM ^
Did the punter just get a personal foul? I don't believe I've ever seen that.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:21 PM ^
Punter called for personal foul.
October 30th, 2011 at 5:23 PM ^
Lions playing well so far. Stafford looks sharp.

October 30th, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
There is a clear absence of Matt Millen this time around.
October 30th, 2011 at 6:12 PM ^
Mayhew was part of the same staff, dude.
October 30th, 2011 at 6:21 PM ^
Mayhew also worked for Parcells, who his mentor. What exactly is your point?
October 30th, 2011 at 6:43 PM ^
October 30th, 2011 at 6:47 PM ^
Stafford has 19 tds vs 4 INT's, a much improved defense, Petitgrew's has dropped fewer passes this year. They also drafted a solid receiver in Young, a promising DT in Fairley, and rebuilt their linebacker and secondary corps to the point where they have a top 12 defense.

Oh and they have won 6 in a row on the road.

How you can blame the Lions for Leshoure's freakish injury is beyond me.

The simple truth is at you do not like the Lions. You are too much in the possession of your prejudice to see that they have made great improvement at all levels. Too bad for you.
October 30th, 2011 at 6:50 PM ^
October 30th, 2011 at 11:12 PM ^
What stats am I looking at? Josh Freeman had a hell of a rookie year and Sanchez has taken his team to the playoffs multiple times. Stafford is Glass Joe from Punch Out and has lousy accuracy.
October 31st, 2011 at 12:28 AM ^
You think that the Lions would be better off with Mark Sanchez? Really? He is absolutely terrible. The Jets got to the playoffs in spite of him, not because of him.
October 30th, 2011 at 6:51 PM ^
and most DTs do not come into their own until their second or third seasons. There was not a DE who had the grade of Fairley at that point. So you basically wanted them to take an inferior player over a superior player. Sheer brilliance.

October 30th, 2011 at 11:09 PM ^
Robert Quinn was available at #13 overall. To suggest that he did not grade out as highly as Fairley is just plain ignorant. Add the facts that the Lions were already stacked at DT and their top DE is an aging veteran, and I don't think it's unfair to suggest the Lions made the wrong pick. Sorry, dude.

Let's hope history does not repeat itself.
