Is the defense really on…

Is the defense really on Glenn at this point, or is it on Holmes?

Of you can't get home with 4 then you have to put the defense in further conflict. Defense needs upgrades... Maybe if Gardner-Johnson and Houston get healthy and can contribute I'll feel differently.

The offense has to win games for us. That's why it's important for us to have the 2 seed.

To answer your question,…

To answer your question, Iowa's offense is as bad as it is because they lack talent in certain critical positions and creativity in play calling to make up for that lack of talent.

In most cases, the scout team runs the other teams plays so the offense can recognize the formations, coverages blitzes and stunts. Since the scout team is likely not as good as the first team defense, I'm sure the offense has some wins in practice. With that being said, I'm sure that they also take their fair share of losses, since the scout team knows the offense's plays. Obviously it can be speculated that taking losses in practice affects their psyche, but if the offense let's that affect their confidence, they're in the wrong sport!

Best case scenario. Instead…

Best case scenario. Instead of coming in overconfident like many believe we did last year, we'll come in focused and looking to prove who we are! Don't think that we won't use the DISRESPECT angle!

Both will be in the stadium… Both will be in the stadium for pre game.
Unlike most other campuses…

Unlike most other campuses. ESPN actually doesn't like coming to UM, because they have to pay wherever they set up. I know that the university is rich in endowment monies, but there are divisions of the university that need revenue of any kind coming through. Somewhere on campus is going to accept that payment. If not, Pioneer will. Simply telling them to kick rocks won't happen. Athletics has zero percent to do with that.

Athletics could not let ESPN connect with the stadium. But I think the thought process is good or bad, they're talking about us. If we do what we should do, they won't be able to stop talking about us.

Yeah? Well, you know, that's…

Yeah? Well, you know, that's just like uh, your opinion, man.

If my boss comes to me and…

If my boss comes to me and says "hold my beer!". I'm going to hold his fucking beer.

Two things, 1. The president's title comes with more backing than the AD. If the president wants to take the lead.  We'll then you let him. 2. One can work more on strategy when not in the limelight.

I'm not saying this is the case. But it could be.

With all due respect to…

With all due respect to everyone in the "leave the B1G" camp. Take a look at the Financials. The athletic department would suffer.

We would have to sacrifice a team sport or scholarships on various teams in order to leave the conference.

The answer isn't leaving the conference! The answer is embracing the Villain role and dominating.

Not giving access to the…

Not giving access to the computer is a direct contradiction to Harbaugh's full cooperation statement. Don't so would imply there is something to hide. Programs can stream signs, just not by sorting in person. If signs are stolen from the TV broadcast, then that's legal.

Also, the computer's content can be FOIA'd.

Even though JH wants to run…

Even though JH wants to run the score up, he decides to pull the starters to preserve their health. Because if that, we only score 48.

48 Michigan

3 Staee

My preference are noon starts.

I do however appreciate Michigan playing more night games this year. We have traditionally played poorly in night. The practice will only improve our preparation and make us more formidable this year.

I've learned that not…

I've learned that not everything from JUB is solid. I'm not questioning this report though. I hope this is true!

Happened yesterday! Not to…

Happened yesterday! Not to me thank goodness

In an Era where you could go…

In an Era where you could go to a bowl with 5 wins, I think your take is wrong!

That's very hospitable of…

That's very hospitable of them. Never would expect them to be providing beers for visitors!

If you take a look at…

If you take a look at coaches salaries, Michigan pays competitively with the top salaried coaches in the nation. (Not necessarily the absolute top)

But, how much is the department supposed to invest in a non revenue sport? There is already significant investment in the athletes scholarships. If a coach feels he/she can do better financially, who can blame them for betting on themselves.

I'm not sure what the salary raise would have been to keep Stienberg, but that would also set a precedence for other programs within the department. Also, having one less football game next year has to have played into the decision as well.

Good points.

In my post…

Good points.

In my post I talked about investigating with the coaches. I didn't specify, but that investigation should include; 1. What kind of a motor does Carter have? 2. What kind of teammate is he? 3. Does he take football serious, or is he just blessed with physical talent.

You talked about considering the Carter's position for that draft spot, and the relation to the salary cap. First,  Spotrac.com says that pick would likely get a contract of about $30M, with $19M guaranteed. Your point is off because that money would be broken up over 4 years with an optional 5 year. The 2023 cap hit would only be roughly $5.5M. Which is less than 3% of the 2023 salary cap ($224M). To me the salary is a moot point. If you have someone that can stop the run on first and second down and create 3rd and long situations, that's totally worth it.

Again, it all comes down to whether or not Campbell feels he'd fit in with the hard working culture the team has.

Here is where I would trust…

Here is where I would trust Dan Cambell to evaluate the interview and background investigation. While Carter was dealing with those issues, it's definitely possible that his head wasn't in "the game" during his pro day. If his coaches at Georgia say that he works hard every day and his pro day was an anomaly, I'd take him.

He's a position of need and a potential difference maker. Taking Carter isn't as much of a risk if the right investigations are done. This Lions regime can navigate through issues, while the regimes of the past definitely weren't qualified to think through issues. Main reason the Lions didn't draft Randy Moss.

Two things... Do we know who…

Two things... Do we know who is on the staff at Colorado? We can't say for sure that Utah will be better coached. It wouldn't make sense for him to go to Mississippi State. Why compete in the SEC when he can compete in the Pac 12? Is an easier road. Coach Prime will have his pick of who he wants to come there. The only reason JSU want packed with talent is because it wasn't a power 5 school. I think Colorado will compete relatively quickly.

I've shared this with 5 of…

I've shared this with 5 of my favorite Ohio State loving frat brothers. Their responses have been comedy gold thus far! I love all of his film sessions!

Takeoff from all accounts…

Takeoff from all accounts was just there. Quavo was the aggressor in the situation and that caused it to escalate.

Proof was the aggressor in his situation. He pulled out his gun and pistol whipped the guy he was playing pool with. As he stood over the person that he pistol whipped with his gun pointed at him, security for the establishment shot Proof. It should also be noted that the security person who shot Proof was said to have been related to the person that Proof was standing over.

Proof had the reputation of starting stuff. And I can say from being in the building when something like that happened that Proof died by the same sword that he lived by.

Takeoff's situation is vastly different.

As I don't believe that I…

As I don't believe that I truly have to explain, the word thug is a dog whistle word that is used instead of a word that people have generally said is off limits.

With that being said, saying that someone is behaving like a thug is the way to get one's point across without having to worry about coming across as being racist. IMO

My favorite quote is "We put…

My favorite quote is "We put compression shorts on and slept and extra hour only to put up 12 yards the first half wtf?"

With their defense being this bad, the State game shouldn't be competitive this year without them having a strong running game! But that is one of those games that you "Throw out the records" so we'll see!

I don't own the shirt any…

I don't own the shirt any more, but I lost bets in the past and had to wear a Staee shirt to work and post it on FB for all the world to see...

I love the take on Cade…

I love the take on Cade. Many people seem to think that he was going to stay stagnant and not improve as well. With this schedule, they're isn't a reason for us not to open up the offense from the beginning and get these receivers going early.

As far as the defense, of course we lost a lot talent in the end positions and Dax. But at almost every other position the team has gotten better. And it's not like we aren't replacing those positions with talented players. The defense will come along by the time we get to Maryland and this team should be ready. Only caveats are the new Coordinators. But, truthfully, they should be good to go as well.

Unlike Nebraska, USC has a hotbed of home grown talent. For this reason alone, they will be back to being a dominant program. Riley will utilize speed and they will be good. They may not be the premier team in the B1G, but they will compete. You can Rabaak (don't remember how it was spelled) it!

While this sucks, this class…

While this sucks, this class doesn't affect next year. If we can have success next year as well, we will be back on track and will pull in a great class.

Now, if we have a shitty year coming up, this can spiral out of control pretty quickly.

I won't believe the sky is falling unless we blow a season that has a schedule set up for us to have continued success.

I was involved with the…

I was involved with the Michigan Union project from the University side of things. What parts of that project did you specifically work on? I'm curious if we had any interactions throughout that 18 month process.

Stafford isn't a part of the…

Stafford isn't a part of the Lions anymore. Any Lions fan that is rooting for him is actively rooting against their own interests.

Besides, Stafford was responsible for his fair share of issues in Detroit. He damn near gave up this game! But whatever...

Dean, I'm so sorry to read…

Dean, I'm so sorry to read that you have loss your wife. Stay strong!

Georgia was more talented…

Georgia was more talented then we were.  But, we made mental errors and they capitalized. Michigan needed to play the perfect game to win and we didn't.

The coaches also didn't do enough in planning to add enough wrinkles to take advantage of Georgia's defensive aggressiveness. When running the jet motion, Georgia's defense was racing fast. There were things that we should have done to keep them honest and we didn't. We will need to make changes quickly and on the fly. But we also need to take advantage of planning. Our team will improve in many facets, but our coaching in big moments when we can't exert our will must be improved.

This station has been amazing, and I'm not taking a deep on the coaches, but they will grow as well.

I believe the main key to…

I believe the main key to this victory is how effective we are at using play action. All I've heard from anyone that has opined is that Georgia will stop the run. Gattis can use that defensive aggression to his advantage.

I'm not trying to sound cocky, but if we don't give up big plays we should be able to make them have long drives and force them into mistakes or field goal situations. Their offense will generate some points, but unless aided by turnovers we should be able to keep their scoring in the high teens to low twenties.

As far as Georgia's defense, I'm more scared of mental mistakes from our offense. If we stay with one turnover or less, we should be able to outpace Georgia. We should hit their aggressive defense with misdirection and screen plays to confuse them.

I'm super excited for this game. While bumping Bama up to 1 was bs. Making us have to beat Georgia to be able to play for the championship is prefect because we can continue to be the underdog and let that fuel this team to victory.

I don't see Smart as being the coach that will be able to outcoach Harbaugh & co., I think he tells on his superior talent and tries to execute his gamelan (Hope I'm not wrong).

tl;dr... I'm excited

I'm not scared at all. If he…

I'm not scared at all. If he flames out as a coach great! But if he turns out to be a great coach that's good too!

Michigan won't go with questionable coaching anymore. If Harbaugh crashes and burns after this year, we'll bring in one of the top coaches to replace him (or maybe Mike Hart). We also might get a new president that cares a little more about football. I guess I said all that to say, competition brings out the best and I don't expect Michigan to ever go through a stretch like we did with Rodriguez and How again in my lifetime. We'll always be able to recruit Detroit, and just because they hired Wilcher doesn't mean they'll take over.

We'll be fine! Even if Tucker turns out to be their best coach ever.

The only issue I have with…

The only issue I have with coaching is that we refuse to keep DEs honest by having Cade pull the ball once in a game. The back side DE in tougher games makes too many plays. If we kept them honest or running game will be more effective.

Ok, not the only issue... that 4th and 2 run that we did was crazy predictable. PA there would've worked, even a bootleg with a dragging TE would've worked.

He was a young player when…

He was a young player when he was dropping balls. He's grown physically and mentally!

We won't need to see what…

We won't need to see what happens if they win out. Michigan will be National Champions. Duh...

I don't see an issue with…

I don't see an issue with the drill. In football, there are many times that the defender has to give up momentum and adjust to many situations. I don't think it was set up the best for angle tackling (I assume knowing the consequences if I'm wrong), but it is still can be an effective drill.

Not that I need to qualify myself, but I've coached at high school and little league levels for about 15 years. The main issue that I see with this clip is that you have an players that are suited up, and it doesn't seem as though they went through the mandatory learning period without pads. If the young man did go through that period, then the coaches didn't do a good enough job of making sure he was prepared for contact.

Furthermore, when coaching, the size of the players matters, but not as much as the experience level. We can all nitpick the poor technique in this clip by both players, but what is criminal is that the tackler who may have developed a love for the game over time may have had that taken from him because his coach decided to pair an absolute novice with someone who obviously more experienced with contact. On a yearly basis, coaches are expected to take continuing education on technique and concussion protocols. I hope that all coaches involved in this video have gone through their training, because this will garner a fair amount of attention.

I'm in favor of building…

I'm in favor of building from the inside out. I would take Sewell if available at 7 because that would further solidify the offensive line, which could become a strength. If he's not available, I would look for a trade down and try to secure more draft capital this year and next. If they could somehow get an additional first round pick for next year, that could (If picks are good) speed up the rebuild. Imagine getting 5 starters in the next two years in the first round alone. That would be amazing.

Pay that man! This kind of…

Pay that man! This kind of success with that kind of talent coming in is worth keeping forever. Can't stay the 12 highest paid coach in the B1G.

If he's here six years that…

If he's here six years that means he changed the culture and the team is competing and making it to the playoffs. If he can't make that happen, he'll be gone in four!

It's time for us fans to…

It's time for us fans to stop this mentality for small decisions like this. I'm pretty sure that it's only going to get colder throughout the rest of the season, other teams will have to play there as well. Let's hold our team accountable. For us to be the best, we have to beat the teams on our schedule. Like it was said earlier in this post, This is likely the best matchup of the day, so why wouldn't it be a prime time matchup? Exposure is what also helps drive recruiting. So let's make lemonade if you feel you're given lemons instead of making the sour face.

MFun,

Since you brought…

MFun,

Since you brought up statistics, I figured you'd benefit from learning actual statistics. If we look at violent crimes comitted by race in America in 2018 (which is the most current data we have). For this exercise, I am including murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, aggravated assault, and simple assault. The total number of those crimes that individuals were arrested for those crimes were 1,471,310. White people were responsible for 935,450 (63%) of that total, while black people were responsible for 480,170 (32%) of those crimes.

 https://www.ojjdp.gov/ojstatbb/crime/ucr.asp?table_in=2

It is very irresponsible for you to spout out numbers that simply aren't correct. Please take the time to look past your bias and actually learn about others in this community that we call America and you might start to understand what others go through. Others have already talked to you about the disparities in the judicial system, so I won't. From your comment, you could use some understanding in your life instead of what is coming across as pocketed hate! Have a good day!

Owners don't need to have…

Owners don't need to have the most knowledge about football. That leads to Jerry Jones type situations (we all can agree that has been more negative than positive lately). Owners need to have the courage to hold people accountable. Everyone makes mistakes with their hires. She just can't be like her father in doubling down on her mistakes. From the article, she seems to take a collaborative approach to finding the best solution for problems that she's had to handle.

Her first task that will show us if she's up for the job or not is to decide the fate of the current GM and head coach. Even though I think that they will start out 0-4, the rest of the schedule is favorable and they may be able to save their jobs.

A former player (Ryan Lacy)…

A former player (Ryan Lacy) has come out and said that Morgan Scalley called him the N-word in 2008. He said that he felt he needed to hold onto it so that he could succeed within the program. In 2013, when Lacy was a senior he confronted Scalley about the incident and got a half apology, according to Lacy. Scalley has also had other former players on the team speak up for him saying that there was no way he could be racist.

https://www.si.com/college/utah/football/utah-dc-morgan-scalley-suspended-after-use-of-racial-slur

If Lacy's story is true, I'm not sure what transpired with Lacy for Scalley to use that kind of language, but it could have been when he was angry. I'm not sure what the tweet said, but one article I read said that he also used the N-word then.

I'm not sure how he grew up and if he is trying to be cool with it, but he needs sensitivity training immediately. I'm not going to say cancel him, because we all have to be allowed to grow. But when you have repeated offenses, I start to push towards cancelling. With all of this being said, Utah has got to be out of their minds to retain him. After all, they have to recruit Cali heavily and there is no way I would send my son to play for someone who either is racist and apologizes because that is what they have to do, or isn't smart enough to understand that the position he is/was in should make him think twice about all of his actions.

Thank you for sharing! I…

Thank you for sharing! I continue to be perplexed by the multitude of people that still aren't taking this seriously! Everyone stay safe!

In fairness to the offensive…

In fairness to the offensive line. Turner made a poor read and should've broke that run to the right side of the line. Had he done so, he likely would've scampered for at least 10 yards. Plays are designed to go through holes, but most runs these days have cut back options as well. Turner missed the alternative option.

It's little small details that are there difference between small gains and big breaks. This is why Harbaugh feels his team is right there. The problem is, this staff doesn't seem to be able to communicate those issues with the team to get them on the right path. This along with slow QB reads is why the offense is struggling. If Shea can't make the reads fast enough, replace him. It's better to lose and prepare for the future than to just lose because you stuck with a senior QB that from body language his team doesn't support. This is all coaching!!!

This may not be a popular…

This may not be a popular post. Be here were go anyways.

There are three aspects if why I now feel a change is needed at the coaching level.

1. Is mental toughness. When we are in tough situations (tough games in general, road games against decent teams), we have been a no show since '16 in Columbus. We don't seem to understand that everyone doesn't just lay down because we're Michigan. There isn't a chip on our shoulders, and we don't rise to any occasions. We simply behave like a tan that knows its only supposed to win 9-10 games a year and that's totally unacceptable! Totally on our coaches! We're aren't preparing our athletes for success in college or in the NFL with that mentality.

2. I can't fully tell if this is a X's and O's strategy issue or if this is a coaching staff that are too scared to make a need change. Patterson seemingly doesn't get it. Either way, the coaching is at fault.

If we aren't making the right calls, then that's obvious that it's falling on the coaches. But when I'm watching the game in real time, it sends like we're missing opportunities in the RPO. If Patterson isn't prepared enough, that's on the coaches. If he isn't getting it, then why haven't they moved on? Big time programs make the tough decisions. There isn't enough pressure on Harbaugh to win. If his seat was truly hot, as I suspect it might get after this year, he would have to make the right decisions or lose his job.

3. Our team isn't very sound with regards to technique. Defensively, we missed tackles all game. Takling high instead of hitting at the waist. Just again not being mentally tough. And in other instances, lining up improperly to deal with slot receivers crossing routes. We got carved up by Indiana with them, and Don Brown as good as he is has done nothing to adjust. Once you're weakness is exposed, everyone will hit you in that heel. This happened yesterday in a third and long situation when Ambrey Thomas couldn't make a play on a drag route that resulted in a first down, and our D couldn't get off the field.

I get it,  TL;DR version, Harbaugh and company won't get us where our players and fans deserve to be! We get the same calibur of talent as all of the big programs, and yet we can't seem to win a big game. Sounds line coaching to me.

I've played sports all my…

I've played sports all my childhood into  my early adulthood and I've never had a coach tell me to fellate him!

I also coached for 15 years in various sports after my playing days and I never once even considered saying something like that. I did however coach at a school where I had to explain to a player that I didn't get paid enough to take his shit, and he he needed a ass whipping I'd be happy to take it wherever he felt it needed to go. But sometimes teens challenge you and want to see how you respond. After that encounter, I made sure to speak with that young man in order build the relationship that we hadn't developed.

This is why what BA said to the player deserved a suspension and in some people's perspective, dismissal. (I would however like to hear what he said to BA)

Coaching is about building up young men and women not tearing them down. I know that many of us grew up with plenty of things being said to us, but that doesn't make it correct! I personally feel as though that wouldn't have affected me as it supposedly did that young man, but who am I to tell him how it made him feel. Who knows, he might just be trying to get paid. 100K would change my life!
