Gallon Redemption Thread
One of my roles on this board is to mention that sometimes kids are forced to play before they are ready and give them some time they are only freshmen and shouldn't be playing.
It seems I've seen 1 or 15 or 20 comments about why is Gallon returning kicks? Gallon can't catch. Gallon is a bust. Etc..
He's looked smooth all 3 games returning the ball. Made a great return that got called back and obviously made some big plays on offense.
You can make your apologies here.

Sorry Gallon...Please keep getting better
September 18th, 2011 at 9:04 PM ^
He has certainly been a nice, nice surprise on this team this year. Kind of strange to see Odoms disappear almost entirely and Gallon emerge as a legit punt returner and receiver. Keep it up, Jeremy!
September 18th, 2011 at 9:38 PM ^
I saw Odoms at Meijer last night, so he hasn't disappeared completely yet.
September 18th, 2011 at 10:04 PM ^
I'm pretty sure odoms played saturday. I think he was out there when they tried run the play where Denard steps up like he's gonna run and then steps back and throws it. He was wide open, but Denard threw it to someone down the sideline and missed, if I remembered correctly.

Correct boy wonder!
September 19th, 2011 at 11:01 AM ^
Odoms was wide open for a 50 yd TD, but unfortunately Denard bounced the pass off Toussaint's chest.

Lo siento
September 18th, 2011 at 9:05 PM ^
Nice try, Mrs. Gallon.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
Kid's a damn solid receiver too. Slot sized but his concentration skills downfield are as good as you can ask for.
It's funny to see after all the MANBALL bluster that the guy who is on the surface the archetype of an RR recruit (short, skinny, quick, Florida, dreads, slot receiver) is making great strides after the coaching change.
One of my favorite players on the whole team.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:13 PM ^
Whoa, hold up. I'll agree with every one of those adjectives except "skinny." Gallon has a really thick build for someone his size.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
...thats what she said
September 19th, 2011 at 1:19 AM ^
He was a pretty good little QB down here. Couldn't throw for shit, but knew how to move the ball down the field. I think being an ex-QB gives a player at any other position an advantage, because they usually have a coach's understanding of how a play works and a better feel for where everyone is supposed to be.
Once a player is used to seeing the entire field, they never really turn if off. I think that's a big part, for example, of why Jay Riemersma ended up in the NFL at TE.
September 19th, 2011 at 6:20 AM ^
I agree there. Trust me, I am a mere inch taller than Gallon (making me all of 5' 9''), but I weight the same at 185. The problem I face is that not all of it is exactly muscle and throwing to me would allow the ball to fall harmlessly to the ground.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:56 PM ^
Don't tell dileo that he won't get catches in manball offense
September 19th, 2011 at 11:11 AM ^
I want him doing more than just running routes and get involved in other ways (e.g. reverses) since I think he can be pretty dangerous.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:11 PM ^
Gallon's proven himself the past three games. He's been playing consistently well and has come through huge on some plays. But some of the criticism was appropriate before - glad to see he's proving us wrong. I'm at the point where I'm not nervous anymore when he fields a punt.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:12 PM ^
He has probably made the biggest jump from last year on offense. I am very surprised(in a very good way) at his contributions in the first 3 games.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
It took me a good 20 seconds to see anything but legs in this pic.
... Married life I suppose.

September 18th, 2011 at 10:16 PM ^
Leave it to Denard Robinson to loose a jump ball to a 5'8" receiver?
September 18th, 2011 at 11:39 PM ^
Yea he should really try to tighten his coverage skills
September 19th, 2011 at 12:43 AM ^
Ha ha! I see what you did there!
September 18th, 2011 at 10:56 PM ^
I like how you can see the block M on Gallon's glove in this pic...
September 19th, 2011 at 8:16 AM ^
get the idea for those professional knee-pads?
September 19th, 2011 at 12:53 PM ^
want to know.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:15 PM ^
I need to come clean. I never thought he could be this good after watching him last year. I thought he was a good candidate to transfer.
He really put the work in during the off season and looks faster and stronger. He's catching the ball well and making better decisions. Well done, Mr. Gallon.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:35 PM ^
your son is going to Notre Dame. I cast thee out.
September 18th, 2011 at 10:51 PM ^
My oldest son is only 11. They only place he's going is to jr. high.
September 19th, 2011 at 6:24 AM ^
It's not "Notre Dame Junior High", is it? Pretty good academics, but that football team....you never know when the train will fall off the tracks.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
any doubts about Gallon's ability. I only doubted the ability of the new offensive system being able to get the ball into his hands. With all that said...where is Roy Roundtree? The game winner against Notre Dame and maybe two looks against EMU. I miss him.
September 18th, 2011 at 10:54 PM ^
I feel like a lot of Denard's bad throws have been Roundtree's way. Roy was a bit annonymous to start last year too, wasn't he?
September 18th, 2011 at 9:50 PM ^
To be fair, we didn't really pass the ball too much against EMU.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:20 PM ^
September 18th, 2011 at 9:24 PM ^
Last year was last year...this year is this year. No appolgies.

September 18th, 2011 at 9:25 PM ^
I think Gallon was boozing it up with RR before games, making him incapable of fielding punts. Hoke has a strict no boozing policy thank goodness.
September 18th, 2011 at 9:26 PM ^
And I can change, then maybe we can all change!!!
September 18th, 2011 at 9:51 PM ^
Cue "Hearts On Fire"
September 18th, 2011 at 9:32 PM ^
Who knows, what's next? maybe a Justin Boren apology post? I THINK NOT
September 18th, 2011 at 9:43 PM ^
When Gallon started across the field on his last catch vs ND, I just watched spellbound, not thinking about the clock, watching him weave around about 3 defenders while making his way to the other sideline, finally getting out of bounds with 8 seconds left. Then after the game Gallon had the nerves to say, "I knew I had to get out of bounds" You did? You fooled me! One of the greatest plays in the history of Michigan football. Thank you Jeremy Gallon, thank you for that one.
September 18th, 2011 at 10:01 PM ^
I offer my apologies to all of our small and shifty Floridians. They've been getting the job done. Way to answer the bell, you magnificent slot Smurfs !

September 18th, 2011 at 10:06 PM ^
There should be no "redemption", we have been way too used to having players thrown into the fire who are underclassmen and not ready to compete at a high level. Gallon is now a RS Sophomore, this is when he SHOULD be blossoming and that is exactly what he's doing.
Good for him, he was a decently hyped recruit coming out of high school and now he is showing us why. He'll keep doing big things.
September 18th, 2011 at 11:11 PM ^
I really like what I have seen from Gallon so far, but did anyone hear the announcer on BTN mention how fast Gallon was and that he has 4.3 speed? If that's true, there's no way he doesn't go all the way on the punt return that got called back. I call 4 out of 5 FAKES.
September 18th, 2011 at 11:18 PM ^
those announcers sucked. i wish herbstreit called every game.
