Contact tracing is already constitutional. Certain diseases are considered notifiable conditions and are reported to states whether you consent to that or not. However to be generous, there isn't currently a system of cell phone gps tracking that enables it at this point. Join FCS or DIII or quit complaining. We’ve chosen to compete at the highest level, if the university is unwilling to do that then it should find a different level to compete at.
Hell, I hope Michigan gets to the level that Auburn has been at the past 10 years. Wins some games against their rivals (even when their rival is on a historically dominant run in Alabama and the other is ascendant in Georgia) and appears in a couple natty's and wins one.
While it's nice to see individual players shoot up the rankings it feels a bit like cherry picking when we just moved down in the 247 composite 2020 rankings (though I assume that was partially due to the JD Johnson news.) Regardless of the rankings, I think we need a decent QB to feel like this class is a success.
Not sure I buy that. Why would Michigan decide to play 3 G5's in 2022 and 2023 when we have Washington in 2020/2021, Texas 2024/2027 and Oklahoma 2025/2026? I think another P5 fills this slot.
The Alabama formula has been to play one mediocre P5 neutral site and then 2 FBS cupcakes and 1 FCS cupcake. The key thing is they are still playing a mediocre P5 opponent.
Michigan would absolutely be made an example of if we went 11-1 and played 3 bad G5 (non-UCF, Houston, Boise State, BYU, etc) schools. You still want to play a bad P5 school so you don't stand out as openly flaunting the system. It's not Alabama's fault that the Big Ten was really greedy and prioritized short-term profits (9 B1G games) over building the B1G brand with basically 5ish more wins spread out over the conference (B1G going 7-7 versus itself versus like 12-2 versus G5 teams).
UCLA is exactly the type of mediocre P5 program Michigan needs to keep on the schedule to make the OOC easy enough to go 3-0 but with enough name recognition that national pundits / cfb committee don’t dump on our scheduling.
This is one of those games where there is a little optimism going in but we all look back on and think “well yeah, it was painfully obvious that we were going to lose this game.”
This is a win-win. The good news is if we lose, then we can at least not blame the maize pants and might wear them again; alternatively we win, and well, who really cares.

I'm originally from the DFW area and now in the Austin area but I played soccer back in high school in Midland against El Paso Coronado and against Odessa Permian in Abilene. Went on to go OOS for my undergrad then to Michigan for my masters but glad to be back in the great state of Texas.
