Well the statement you made…

Well the statement you made about talking to Jay and saying how this will be a really good team late made me feel a little better.  Quite honestly, I thought we looked how I envisioned this off-season.  What I think surprised ALL of us was how good ND looked.  If we're looking at ND as objectively as possible, they look like a legit top 10, maybe top 6 team.

Their OL looked just as good as last year's when they had 2 top 10 picks.  Wimbush looked like an even more athletic version of JT Barrett, with better accuracy to boot.  Their defense would likely be top 3 in the BIG and they'll most likely finish top 10 nationally.  Plus looking at their schedule, they should be favored in every game AND that's having to play VT, FSU, Stanford and USC.

The fact of the matter is, we got punched in the mouth early, made too many stupid mistakes(Winovich personal foul, Ross PI, botched FG, head up our asses on THIRD AND 18!) and lastly we just haven't learned how to mitigate our horrible tackle play, if it IS possible.

People will gloom and doom bc of the expectations they had of this season but we all need to keep things in perspective.  No one wants to hear it but peoples shitty attitudes aren't going to help at all.  We have 2 what should be gimme games coming up and a soft Nebraska team after that.  Get the interior d-line to where it needs to be, learn how to play with our weaknesses offensively and for the love of god whatever we did in the red zone in 2016, just run those plays!

I keep thinking, what if…

I keep thinking, what if they had got Calvin Anderson, who played great for Texas today?  What about Devery Hamilton, who started for Stanford on Friday?  Alex Leatherwood?  Isaiah Wilson?  Or what if they had landed a legitimate big power back like AJ Dillon or Najee Harris?  These whiffs are just killing us and it's getting impossible to structure an offense with no tackles, much less an offense Harbaugh prefers with a power element.

Lazy recruiting ? Satellite camps, sleep overs, attending classes, climbing trees, going on go kart rides, hiring coaches with connections to elite high schools sound lazy to you? If Harbaugh wants a guy he'll make his effort be heard by that recruit.
Hmmmm developing NFL lineman and not getting the elite players? So you're saying bama puts guys into the NFL bc they get the elite recruits. Makes sense to me. Idk about you but our line of looked pretty goddamn putrid before Harbaugh and co got here. Like -34 yards rushing and 8 sacks putrid
Bye Felicia We just brought in 6 lineman last year. We're bringing in Mayfield then Hayes as our project. Hate to see a good kid go but with how young most of our line still is I'm not too worried until next year's class.
I didn't see the game today But compare what you saw out of Peters today compared to what you saw from Wilton against Minnesota in 2015. I'm going to assume Peters looks like he has more tools, correct?
Well let's just keep Dwelling on it
Thought that was another john o neill call Receiver was losing it as he was falling to the ground. Original call was an interception. How did they have enough to over turn that?
Why would we encourage Peters To transfer? You guys not see the last 7 games from Speight?
I'd have to agree We had 2 weeks to prepare also
Did you people not have fucking eyes During the spring game? Fuck ppl, it's. not that hard
Why is no one In the stadium starting a Brandon peters chant?
Exactly Then we get to hear how Harbaugh is such a shit coach and hear how all he is is an attention whore, when it's finebaum amd every other idiot that keeps talking about him just for doing his job. Oh, but Jimbo gets a pass bc he won a title with a stacked Florida recruit roster and a number one overall raw talent at quarterback. I know enough about football that I can easily tell the Dabo's, Jimbo's and even Saban's of the world are enhanced bc the top level southern talent they receive that is in abundance unlike up in Michigan.
ANd they have As many losses as us. Hope you're not implying anything
You sir Are hilarious
Pfft Best not to talk about it. Just another flier type player that could be average as a fifth year
Has Stueber Already burned his rs? Plus what about Hall? I think he's better suited at tackle.
Jesus Christ Another young line. No seniors a sophomore and 2 RS Freshman. Not fucking fair. Fuck you so hard Hoke
My guess would be From left to right; Stueber, Bredeson, Ruiz, Onwenu, Filiaga.
We have little depth Amongst the defensive line which is the most important group defensively. We have one good linebacker, young corners and very average safeties athleticism wise. Penn State clearly looked like they made the most of the bye week in terms of preparation and they executed about as well as you could ask. We probably should have seen this coming, especially since we knew our offense couldn't hang blow for blow. We can question certain aspects of the team but at the end of the day this entire board has to ask itself one very important question; do you trust this coaching staff? Bc I most certainly do. I'm sick of everyone jumping off ship or getting ready to mutiny the captain bc things have started to get a little hairy. You gotta stay strong. We expect our teams to fight in thick of adversity yet as fans we can't be a touch more level headed? It really frustrates the hell out of a guy when no one wants to look for positives and keep a level head during tough times.
Not surprised at all Peters couldn't even get in for the last possession in a blow out. For some reason I have a feeling Harbaugh wants to appease the fan base as little as possible when it comes to breaking out a new quarterback. Really hoping we can come out firing and be up by 35 in the 4th this week. That's the only way Peters sees multiple drives and I was so pissed he wasn't out there in Saturday.
Freshman Even Gary, a number one overall recruit, took some time before he saw significant snaps. Physique and technique are so different compared to high school. Some guys are built like Kwity but need refinement. Some guys need two seasons in the weight room before they can even be in the conversation of finding PT. Kwity looks like a stud that I could see starting over Chase next year. Just feel he has a higher ceiling and Chase is a better luxury pass rusher than he is a full time guy
Behind Chase? I think one of them beats him out next season
Haha weird Clemson just lost to Syracuse. Dabo had Deshaun Watson. Harbaugh had Wilton Speight. These two things aren't similar. Shrugs shoulders.
I'm so disappointed in Evans tho He just looks significantly slower this year. We hear how he's such a hard worker and Harbaugh called him a shining star before his first career snap. Where are those abilities now? It's been a confusing season.
I mean DPJ Already looks better in his first season than Darboh and Chesson did in their third years as RS Sophs but that's just me. Just seeing the field in itself is impressive as a freshman bc it means you're showing good things in practice and have potential.
Teams change ND could go back to being a dog. UW is at home and living in Wisconsin chryst is nothing special. PSU is also at home and they lose Saquon, trace, gesicki, Allen, Jennings etc. I don't get worried about other teams minus OSU bc being a good team is mainly about how we play and not the opponent.

Gonna love when This team returns to beating the fuck out of opponents next year and every one can eat crow
No dipshit My point is it's hard to win with a bevy of 18/19 year olds compared to 22/23 year olds. Exactly how did you conclude that coaching doesn't matter to me? I literally said Michigan looked like the better coached team in Columbus last season and in fact all of last season. Let me ask you something; you really think any other would've created better results than what Harbaugh has the past 2.5 seasons? I'm not talking about what Saban did at bama or what Urban has done at OSU I'm saying what would their records be at Michigan? Let me tell you something, they wouldn't be quite as good. Urban and Nick may have inherited teams with mediocrity but they didn't inherit a complete shit like that Harbaugh did. This fan base is fucking delusional and doesn't think practically at all.
Sorry for the triple post But maybe the universe is trying to tell y'all I have a pretty legit fucking point
Not like Urban Meyer inherited most of Tressel's studs and got the no.2 recruiting class after his first season. You're going to tell me Urban and his staff are better recruiters than our staff after all the shit we do for those kids? Hell no. Just gotta face facts and understand the world isn't fair and people get better shit than you do without reason. I don't think Urban Meyer or Saban can motivate, develop players, come up with a scheme better than Harbaugh. Look at last year's OSU game. Michigan was clearly the better coached team. Urban had 4 classes of his guys compared to our 1 class and we were a couple biased refs away from being big ten champs. In Harbaugh's 2nd year for chrissakes. You're going to tell me Michigan has a better roster than OSU and bama? Puuuhhlease. They both rollout teams that I'm not even sure a fifth of our guys would crack the two deep on. My point is our roster is a hell of a lot younger than those schools rn and less talented. Face facts again, while we may be more experienced in the coming years we'll probably always be less talented bc that's just how it is. That's fine tho, bc what i saw last year was a better team than osu and was just a slightly better qb away from never giving the refs a chance to win them that game. Wait for Harbaugh to build depth. You already saw how good we could be with a veteran presence. How good can we be with a veteran presence made out of Harbaugh recruiting and a better quarterback?

Moving forward Offense- I'll put this out there right now but why is everyone bitching so much about the play calling? We have a shit line, a quarterback that is afraid to stay in the pocket when he does have time, inexperienced skill position players etc. Someone tell me what their gameplan would be with all of these limitations? Oh, you want to spread them out and throw it? Oh well good fucking luck bc Okorn doesn't have the balls to go through all his progressions and RT is a complete liability that JH DID NOT recruit. You wanna run it? Nice try line sucks ass and we don't have one do it all running back. Y'all fucking act like we too good for this shit. Jim mother fucking Harbaugh just got 11 motherfuckers drafted that WERENT his players! We're starting 12 players with sophomore eligibility for fucksake. Most of the depth behind them is Freshman! Moving forward it's about offensive line and quarterback! Those are the most important aspects of offensive football and we have rely on a back up 5th year at quarterback, JBB and Kugler among the line. You think we're Alabama where we can have the number one recruiting class every year for the past decade? No! We're a sophomore laden team that has no depth on the dline right now, a shitty weak side backer and average athletes throughout that Harbaugh and Brown are working their asses off to get the best out of. What held this team back last year? Oh ya the offensive line was average and quarterback blew ass without pristine protection. Until we get a bevy of Harbaugh players at those positions it's gonna be the same shit. Not all Harbaugh's fault. I'd love to start Peters too, but an elite program shouldn't be forced into starting a RS Freshman. Wait till we build depth. You won't see these problems anymore.
No don't put in Peters For some reps. Dipshits. They're not going to appease the fans
Fuck Hoke so hard We wouldn't have to have a bridge year if it wasn't for his dumbass. Everyone doubting Harbaugh is a complete moron. You think this guy forgot how to coach? Youngest team in the country hanging tough in the road vs a good team. That being said I feel like Penn State is just the better team and our offense won't be able to keep us in the game the whole way. Fuck bridge years.
Sigh I can already see us relapsing offensively to open the half. When you're just not a good team you can't continuously take what you want, instead of waiting for mistakes. We can win this game, but I doubt it. I've just seen this shit way too many times. We'll be better next year and take what we want when want more often I guarantee it.
Depth on the dline Is really haunting us. We were always able to use four man fronts and control the line and create havoc in the backfield. That being said we at least have to TRY more 4 man fronts, otherwise they're just going to keep throwing it up wherever they want.
Second half Gotta be able to use four man fronts and pressure Mcsorely. Can't let him heave it up all day. Gotta give them credit he puts the ball in the right spot and they have huge targets
I'm shocked We didn't pick up a bs interference call. We're usually good for a couple of those
Moving forward Can we get jbb some help? He's a liability
Toxicity Toxicity all over this board. If you didn't want to go along for the ride maybe some of you "fans" never should've got on
Onwenu What a stud. Maybe lose weight bud?
just look so slow No depth on the dline, one good linebacker and defensive backs that are not imposing at all.
How was that not a hold!!! On Gary
Kugler and Winovich Two Pennsylvania boys showing out already.
Told y'all our d wasn't the best Butttt nooooo look at the numbers
I really don't understand The delusion on this board about Speight. I commend you for saying something. Heck at least Okorn can dodge a sack or two.
Cam Akers folks He's a talent. Already looks like the next Dalvin Cook.
