Iowa was a powerhouse when hayden Fry recruited NJ and FL. Of course, that was when few teams, except for ND, recruited nationally. Now, everyone does.
One of the Wisky sites, I think it was through Yahoo, said he'd been there four years and they gave him every chance to start this year....he ended up third string. Wisky has always seemed to develop linemen, so unless someone was desperate, don't know if you'd want to risk a scholarship on a project that hasn't worked out so far.

In true Bama style, they will drop the game the year before due to "scheduling issues"....ie, Nick needs to work on his bowel control at home. But the Tide will make it up by scheduling some Tibetian Seminary or a local high school team.
I always liked Marcus, but I did think this was too much too soon. The biggest proof is that he keeps hiring his old teammates instead of established position coach. It really shows by his retaining Tommy Rees.....also looks like their OL coach has issues also.
We just had an ex-football player in trouble with the law also.....think it was in TN as well. I think it galls most of us that some can be so physically blessed, yet so mentally deficient...

Washed out? I thought we were supporting breast cancer all year long! Actually, it did look bad. Red washes out faster than other colors. The turf has been replaced.
Still hate to see any kid have to be injured like that. I just had my knee replaced two weeks ago....I'll be glad to walk "normal", much less play a sport again! Oh, to be young!
Plus: they chop block because of the height to weight charts that they have to maintain once they graduate and serve as officers in the Army, the Navy and the Marines. Ergo, they have smaller football players. I've always said they should drop a division just because of the ht-wt differences.
How about all four teams mentioned? Oregon, Washington, Stanford and ND <spit>? First league to 20 teams wins....the game has changed and it's all about making $ no. The old college football model is dead: long live the new king.
I had always thought the BIG should have beat the SEC to the punch and invited OU and TX. USC and UCLA are good. Agree we should get OR and WA....maybe even Stanford. Heard someone elsewhere argue for Duke and NC. Let's face it, ND has a standing invite wherever they want, but I wouldn't mind seeing them join the ACC then that league going belly up when a bunch leave for the SEC.
Paying the players to sign is what little nicky was upset about. Day mentioned that the money wouldn't kick in until they were actually on campus....might be a way to get them in early for their first strength training as well.
While I don't like the direction sports has gone, you have to adapt to change or get left behind.
I believe that the times of the 1960's, 1970's and 1980's where players would get real degrees, not merit badges, and possibly go to law or medical school are gone forever. The NFL is big money, even if you only go from team to team. NIL is big money. While I don't agree with the changes, change is inevitable. You have to change to survive. Big cahones to jim for saying otherwise, but guess we'll see if teams that don't pay to play can make it big.
Agreed; even though we all have our favorite team and favorite team to dislike, it's tragic when a young man or woman is killed or injured .....for any reason.
I hate to see issues like these in anybody, regardless of what team they play on. Glad to see so many teams addressing these issues. My heart goes out to the family of the Stanford athlete. Hope we can prevent anymore losses like these.
Also hate to see JJ with his shoulder issue. Hope he recovers better than Braxton Miller did.
It HAS to hurt to lose two Coordinators. I can see returning to the NFL: there are Pro coaches and College coaches; not everyone can do both. But Gattis? There has to be some interaction issues with the HC.
Not necessarily sure promoting from within is always the best policy. For us, Day turned out good, but we've had some promoted to OC or DC over the years that were a disaster at best. DC example was Coombs; great DB coach, but no experience at DC. Then there was Warinner at OC; good line coach, terrible OC and bad recruiter.
