The point is not moral outrage about the amount spent..The point is that spending over market value for something means that you are stuck with it. The best case for MSU is that these guys are home run hires and they were just ahead of the curve identifying their skills- the worst case is that they are mediocre coaches who won't leave until fired because nobody else will offer them half as much as they now make. If they were offering that type of money in January to top assistants around the nation I think they could have gotten some better established talent but now they won't have much of an option but to wait until 2022 when these current contracts free up.
The only thing about how they are overpaying is that it makes it almost impossible to move on from a bad assistant early-(see Pep Hamilton). When you pay a $250K assistant $700K he better work out for you because he's not leaving for another $250K job and nobody is going to offer him $701K to bail you out.
After reading through the thread a few times I am wondering if I missed where he reclassified and has already signed with OSU and won 3 Hiesman trophies......16-17 year old kid who is heavily recruited has new favorite is where I think we are realistically at if I am not wrong.

For some perspective Kareem Walker was the highly rated JR RB who was committed to OSU at this point in his career before UM flipped him...and that was a commit...this is 2 crystal balls.
I hope somehow they find a way to breakthrough this year- and they land the best instate talent we've had in Michigan in decades to solidify that breakthrough into the future

The grad transfer's have been good for Iowa, Rutgers, and Miami in particular this year. We don't play Iowa or Miami but it will make it harder on MSU. They could very well end up dead last in the East next season.
It worries me that nobody beat Shea out even when he was injured. It also would worry me if I knew that Jim knew the other QBs were better but stayed with Shea... I am just worried now.

While we all hoped the guys who left would have worked out at UM the reality is that the program is better when the players who are buried on the depth chart move on and we get room for another guy who might pan out.
So the guy is a recruiting director for 24/7 and he’s saying Michigan should recruit more like PSU- but his own damn site has ranked Michigan’s classes better than PSU’s 4 out of last 5 years.
So is he saying that 24/7 sucks at grading recruiting classes?

I think part of the reason Jim got Campinile last year was to keep a Jersey connection on the staff- Chris was a good recruiter and really good ST coach but with the secondary loaded and Giles coming back we should be able to attract a really good replacement. Bush SR could step in as a coach and bring a strong South Florida connection for example.
I would love to see Enos at MSU next year- between Blackwell blocking all the Detroit recruits and all the mid Michigan coaches remembering how Enos screwed CMU.... Would be another year of MSU striking out hard in the home state
A lot of people see this as the end of Collin at center but those of us old enough to remember the Fab Five remember they had a kid named Eric Riley on that team who was a 4 year guy who would have started on a lot of teams that came off the bench and gave solid minutes.. He even played in the NBA a while.
If Collin keeps improving through his Jr year when Todd will be having his one and done he could be a huge part of the rotation as a Sr.
Michigan was a different offense from halftime of the Penn State game on. I have not felt this good about to projection of the offense since the Moeller days.
He should go to Washington State or Oklahoma State- they will put it up 50 times a game. I agree that Tarik wasn't going to be the focus of our offense next year and if I am right about Giles and Mike S, and Bell then I agree he probably was going to be the 4th best WR option. Plus we will have veteran RB's and Evans to consider in the passing game.

A coach could probably build a pretty decent program taking 10 transfers a year in... These guys already have a few years of S&C training and college film study. From what I understand Rutgers new ball coach is making it his top priority...knows he can go head to head for these kids out of high school but knows he could increase the talent level on his team by taking power programs cast offs.
I don't think we have another Nico at WR but I think Giles could be just as good in our system. Evans and Blake Corum could be lethal additions with their play style. Eubanks was an afterthought who could blow up in his 5th year on campus.
We got two QBs that can run the RPO system with more success in the QB run aspect IMO.

All comes down to Dylan or Joe running an offense they both have the skill set for and have been practicing since last spring.
The program is in good shape- the game vs OSU showed us how far we are from being in elite shape.
I am not going to the bowl but I am actually pretty excited about this years game because I think the team is really heading in a great direction on offense. I want to see that continue and I am especially hyped that soo many of the younger players played a roll in the breakthrough. I am almost hoping some of the older guys that are not coming back sit so we can get a better look at the 2020 squad.
I have made the same mistake in the past. My bigger point though about Luke is that if he brings Max with him then he starts off with bad optics outside of East Lansing. The guy who still hasn't opened up about the secret Rose Bowl suspension, his failed PED test in the NFL, and maybe part of a gang rape during his playing days.... that is a lot of baggage to bring INTO your fresh start.
If they get a new staff they should do themselves a favor and break ties with the nonending negative press they beg for.
Cincyi is in the AAC not the MAC- he can make good money there and not have to beat PSU,OSU,UM, and some good B1G West teams every year to stay employed
Well if you are trying to get away from the controversial stuff at MSU then you better vet out his staff because Max Bullough has been implicated in PED use and the mother of a young lady who was gang raped in the time that Max was there said she is asking lawyers if she could name names- but did say he was curentlly on a college staff.
It would be counter productive to start off fresh in a "new era" by bringing the last era's criminals with you as coach

He is the same guy how had emails to the former President promising he would delete all data from meetings that he could. Outsiders are not allowed into the circle there and insiders are not pushed out unless it is in handcuffs. Dantonio will have his deposition and maybe that will spill enough blood to take away his will to continue coaching. What outside coach would want to go to a school where the fans are now toxic, the AD is temporary, the BoT is literally criminal, and you are replacing the most popular coach they ever had....
I am to the point to where I am angry at UM for not paying players. We are tying one hand behind our backs and trying to knock out the heavyweights. The NCAA is a complete joke and they have shown they won't do anything about it.
For as miserable as I was after the Wisconsin loss- this has the potential to be the best Michigan Football October ever if we take the next two.
That would mean 3 wins over top 15 teams (2 top ten teams..1 of them a rival)...I looked through some other seasons and the 1997 year we beat 2 #15 teams in October but November was when we beat 3 ranked teams (2 top ten teams...1 of them a rival)
