Chris Lauderback: Ohio State 42, Michigan 21. "Buckeyes have too many horses on offense and I like how OSU stacks up against Michigan's supposed pass rush and running game strengths."

Triples down on terrible predictions...nice.

Johnny Ginter had it basically right except he still underestimated the score.  He may have feared for his safety to actually pick Michigan to win.

Jared Naughton had it almost exactly backwards.

Johnny Ginter: Ohio State 35, Michigan 28. "I hate admitting that Michigan is Actually Good as much as anyone, but they're the Big Ten team that's best equipped to give Ohio State a run for their money, and I think they will."

Jared Naughton: Ohio State 42, Michigan 24. "I feel this will be a close game up till halftime, their offense can’t keep pace."

To be fair - they weren’t alone in predicting that kind of outcome  (including our own beloved blog).  We learned that UM was the better team and had a better game plan.  But that wasn’t really obvious prior to yesterday’s kick off.

Yes, exactly right. Almost every neutral forecaster and many Michigan partisans predicted the same. Given how the two teams had played up to that point, it was a fair guess. I follow at least four Michigan blogs/newsletters, and all had basically the same prediction Eleven Warriors did.

Go read Eleven Warriors now. Their post-game reaction is also very fair. Naturally, they are unhappy. But they don't blame the refs or bad luck. They acknowledge their team was flat-out beaten in all phases of the game.

Given how the two teams had played up to that point, it was a fair guess.

I don't think it had to do with how the two teams had played up to that point.  It had to do with the previous 18 years of the rivalry.

With the exception of MSU, who completely laid down like the pathetic program it is against OSU, Michigan and OSU had performed very similarly against common opponents this year.

Come on. Yes. Brian predicted somewhat of a blowout. But data was there. Everyone picked based on prior years and things they didn't like this year such as MSU game. They refused to believe that Michigan can stop their offense which was there when OSU played PSU and NEB.

It was BPONE for UM fans and arrogance for OSU fans. They refused to see the stats and this season.

Data was there...

Good.  Let it burn deeper and longer

1969

We fucked their seasons when they were in the discussion for national title favorites.

Best offense ever? Fuck You

Hang a hundred?  Maybe try for 100 rush yds first.

Fuck ‘em.  Fuck Day, Fuck their arrogant, mouth breathing, cooler pooping fans.

I couldn't help myself...I started reading some of the comment sections over on various 11W articles, too, including the game recap article.

What an incredibly spoiled fanbase, eh? I mean, cry me a river. Thing is, though? We ABSOLUTELY stunned them -- and a great portion of our own fanbase, as well (including myself!)

For me, a lifelong Ohioan, this one is truly, truly special. I'll enjoy the hell out of this.

I wish I could find it, but Saturday morning I saw a prediction somewhere, where a guy said he was being conservative on the Buckeye margin of victory to predict Ohio State to win 56-28.

Being entirely fair to them, after the complete housing they gave MSU, it had to be hard to expect getting their asses handed to them.

I feel a little smug because I've been high on this team since before the season started, expecting that 2020 was a total red herring and that we'd at least have a .750+ record this year, and after OSU's handling of Sparty, I hopeful but sober about it.

This is a very special team, and the players can know it, too.

I mean, we should probably also revisit this site's predictions, which basically mirrored what the OSU guys said.

I went against my better judgment and said UM would probably lose and I feel dumb for doing so after being hyper optimistic all year, but none of those seemed particularly egregious predictions based on reasonable assumptions.

The less Eleven Warriors respects Michigan the better imo.  I am going to savor and enjoy yesterday's win all week, and off season. Had my family home and they voluntarily wore all kinds of Michigan gear.  We had a blast watching from home yesterday and this one will be in my memory bank for a long time.   Hoping less Bucknut fans make the trip to A 2 next time.  Attending The Game as a family some day is on our bucket list.  Sorry if thread jack.

To be fair to them, they represent a deranged fanbase that would probably send them death threats if they picked us to win.  Also, they had embarrassed us the two previous meetings.  But they shouldn't have picked a blowout win. How often do you blow out a top 5 opponent on the road?

Their mistake was assuming that Day would have Macdonald's defense downloaded the way he did Don Brown's.  Day and Brown coached together at Boston College, so Day knew Brown's tendencies inside and out.  Macdonald was another story.

Also, they foolishly assumed that they could read anything from playing MSU in its post-Michigan hangover.

I know this makes me a bad person but damn I can’t help myself! Reading through the comments on eleven warriors and found this gem:

I cried for 3 hours as my neighbor sang the TUN fight song drunk and happy.  What an asshole.  Gonna go take dump on his front door tonight.

Fun read, and realistically, that beatdown of MSU was the dream scenario. Any team and its fanbase is going to get big heads after that.

I was feeling very confident about a Michigan victory, game went pretty much how I thought it would, but bet the ML/under parlay, thinking it would be a lower-scoring game if Michigan won, kms

Wow, I clicked on the link in the middle of that page for more in-depth "analysis" and this Kevin guy's analysis is a doozy:

How will Michigan's offense attack the Buckeyes? The Wolverines favor the run but Ohio State's defense is giving up just 3.1 yards per carry this year (12th nationally) and is coming off a game in which they ended Kenneth Walker III's Heisman campaign. Can Michigan run on the Buckeyes? Any fear of the pass defense not holding up?

Kevin: I have no idea, to be honest. I don't think Michigan has the athletes to compete with Ohio State on the outside, nor the quarterback to reliably get them the ball anyway. They haven't been able to pass the ball all season, I don't know why they would suddenly be able to do it now.

So I guess that leaves running the ball, but given what Ohio State did to the best running back in the country a week ago... Best of luck!

I honestly don't know how Michigan is going to score more than like 20 points in this game. But maybe they'll surprise me.
