My guess is they think he has some innate talent that can be developed and that he can contribute.
Not surprising, as I mentioned they want a pass rushing specialist. I know you really want them to go after a secondary guy Salvatore, but that’s not the current plan as far as I’ve been told. Unless something else concerning happens with depth at DB or a surprise jumps in the portal, they’ll stick with what they have in the secondary. Now next year or this recruiting class? They’ll load up again most likely 4-6 guys.
They lost Saab, Moore, and Waller. They added Quinton back. That leaves them minus two.
DB depth has already taken a hit.
Will, McBurrows, Hill, Edmonds, and Lowe. Five CBs seems like a rather shallow roster.

As a bobcat season ticket holder I can tell you a little bit about him. He transferred to OU from Purdue and has been a pretty solid player. He is pretty good with his hands. He was probably their 2nd best lineman last year

I’m not sure what’s going on with Trieu deleting the Tweet, but if they are pursuing him, I would say it’s simply to add some depth. We are playing at least 14 games next year and if we want to play 15+ we will need quality bodies. Maybe he’s a guy that would be willing to walk-on if NIL covers tuition? No idea. I’m just throwing stuff out there.
