So who is still doubting the info from Sam Webb?! He has been pretty spot on to me with all the hires. So far the hires have been great!
February 14th, 2024 at 2:59 PM ^
even a broken clock is right 6 consecutive times
February 14th, 2024 at 1:56 PM ^
I started getting a twinge of BPONE (hello darkness my old friend) when Clink left. But the hires since then, especially Scruggs, BJM, and now Adegoke have made me a lot more optimistic again.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:01 PM ^
Is BJM a done deal? I thought that was still a battle with UT?
February 14th, 2024 at 3:23 PM ^
IDK, TBD OK?
February 14th, 2024 at 1:58 PM ^
I love it when a plan.....uh staff comes together!
February 14th, 2024 at 1:59 PM ^
A nice pickup. Another young guy with good bonafides.
Glad to see all the hand-wringing about how Moore and UM were definitely going to screw this up has mostly proven to be standard-issue complaints and not reality.
February 14th, 2024 at 3:23 PM ^
I don't think anyone was worried about Sharrone, it was Warde we were (and will always be) concerned about.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:00 PM ^
A-Days-nu-dadi.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:07 PM ^
This is a very promising hire imo...
February 14th, 2024 at 2:14 PM ^
Rick Minter is officially gone (as most expected). He's a Chargers analyst now.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:17 PM ^
Oh Marc Trestman! What a stupid post Lovey hire.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:49 PM ^
Hopefully he lets Harbaugh have access to his "toolbox of concepts"
February 14th, 2024 at 2:45 PM ^
Someone named Shane Day is gonna teach Justin Herbert how to play quarterback? Sure.
(Ya ya I know JMFH will be the one instructing Herbert, so really, Day’s job is to do… what…?)
February 14th, 2024 at 3:19 PM ^
Navorro Bowman! If I was a Chargers linebacker I'd be pumped to work with that guy. One of the best LBs of the last decade.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:17 PM ^
I was really pulling for Corey Parker.
He gave a phenomenal presentation at the clinic in Lansing. I had my outspoken reservations about him when he was at River Rouge, but he is the real deal and it is showing at the college level. That is nothing against Adegoke, who may be just as good or better, but I think we missed out on a potential fast riser in the coaching ranks in Parker.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:22 PM ^
I imagine we preferred this option.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:35 PM ^
Adegoke is a fast riser.
February 14th, 2024 at 4:38 PM ^
The more I look the more I’m impressed.
Maybe unpopular but I think Parker could bring all that Bellamy brings as far as recruiting and maybe an increase in coaching (and I really respect Ron$
February 14th, 2024 at 4:47 PM ^
Parker knows his stuff
February 14th, 2024 at 2:21 PM ^
Besides Head Coach, is it possible this staff could be overall better than the previous one. I know it sucked to lose so many of our coaches, but our previous staff was not lighting the recruiting trail on fire. I realize this new staff does not have a lot/if any recruiting experience, but they seem to be a young crew which usually bodes well for recruiting. I think if we could have kept Herbert, Sherrone would be getting at least an A- for grades on his coaching hires. Go Blue!
February 14th, 2024 at 2:24 PM ^
along with the updated NIL news, its been a very positive couple of days.
This momentum needs to be carried over into Spring and Fall since the schedule isnt doing this team any favors
February 14th, 2024 at 2:48 PM ^
My friends, it all comes down to what WB will use the April portal to be out QB1.
At least one internet blogger thought Dante Moore should take advantage of the unlimited-xfer rule, given that he is Oregon QB2 right now, and return home. I am not sure that gets us where we need to go. But the point is, we have no idea who is could be, hell Sherrone might have no idea right now.
February 14th, 2024 at 3:51 PM ^
Did that internet blogger even watch a UCLA game last year? I get the fascination with stars, and he could still end up as a great college quarterback. But what he did last year does not make me feel like he is someone who's going to come in and be better than what we already have. What I saw lat year makes me feel like that would be a step in the wrong direction.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:31 PM ^
I can't understand the "not lighting the recruiting trail on fire" mindset when we have 18 combine invites...maybe the recruiting sites are wrong? Because our coaches targeted the kids they wanted and got them, maybe not the kids the sites had at the top but the sites got it wrong, not the coaches.
The sites should do a re-ranking of classes after 4 years..if they did, we lit the recruiting trail on fire.
February 14th, 2024 at 3:16 PM ^
The current combine invitees started college in 2021 or earlier, which meant they were recruited by a pretty different staff than Michigan had this year. The staff we've had since then has been unreal at developing talent, but it's disingenuous to judge their recruiting ability by guys they largely didn't recruit.
February 14th, 2024 at 3:30 PM ^
During this run, we were recruiting (and signing) a bunch of players that developed into NFL players. I hope we keep doing that.
I don't want to see us investing time and effort into recruiting the top guys only to see them go to schools that pay incoming recruits NIL. We're better off finding the dudes who love the football grind, have leadership potential, and want to be at Michigan. That's what has worked and will work in the future.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:37 PM ^
You can still rock in America
February 14th, 2024 at 2:42 PM ^
Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but the tweet says "a," not "the," defensive backs coach. Did anybody else read that to indicate we're looking to hire multiple DB coaches?
February 14th, 2024 at 2:46 PM ^
I think it's just making fun of aOSU
February 14th, 2024 at 2:46 PM ^
Aren't we at the on field limit of 11?
Head coach
Offensive Coordinator
Oline
TE
WR
RB
Defensive coordinator
DL
LB
DB
Special teams
February 14th, 2024 at 3:50 PM ^
The special teams guy might help in the secondary. I believe as analyst he helped Jay with both.
February 14th, 2024 at 3:19 PM ^
It's possible they might split CBs and safeties and this guy would only coach one of those groups. Based on the current composition of the staff, however, I think that's unlikely.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:43 PM ^
Wink 182 defense .
February 14th, 2024 at 2:47 PM ^
Amaizing
February 14th, 2024 at 2:52 PM ^
Is he supposed to be a good coach? Not being snarky, legitimately asking.
I know the Big XII isn't known really for playing defense and maybe he's a really good recruiter, but isn't the last we saw of Texas' secondary as getting absolutely torched by Washington in the CFP?
Edit: Ack, never mind. I'm dumb. Read "Texan's Safety Coach" as "Texas' Safeties Coach." Neg away, friends.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:54 PM ^
He coaches safeties for the Houston Texans, which is an NFL franchise led by demeco Ryans who was the 49ers dc before becoming head coach….
February 14th, 2024 at 2:54 PM ^
He's coming from the NFL...the TEXANS.
February 14th, 2024 at 2:55 PM ^
Yeeeeee-up. I definitely mis-read big time. This is much better than hiring whoever Texas' safeties coach is.
Feel free to neg away.
February 14th, 2024 at 3:14 PM ^
Nah, honest mistake.
February 14th, 2024 at 3:28 PM ^
I made the same mistake. Fortunately, you did it before I did, so you get to be the one that looks like an idiot.
Thank you for that.
February 14th, 2024 at 3:05 PM ^
It's like being a mom. His name is Hey Coach.
February 14th, 2024 at 3:17 PM ^
When we hired Wink, I wanted the defensive position coaches to be young, up and comers who can recruit. Based on limited information, Adegoke is a young, well thought of coach. He should be able to recruit but we'll see. No complaints
February 14th, 2024 at 3:33 PM ^
Give Sherrone a chance remember it took Jim what 6 years before he put together a great staff before that they were average. Sherrone is doing his homework.
February 15th, 2024 at 12:51 AM ^
At least the team is in a much better place than what Hoke left for Harbaugh.
February 14th, 2024 at 4:01 PM ^
The hires all seem solid. But I think it’s hilarious to say, do you think it’s an improvement on tbh prior staff because of recruiting? Lolz.
Michigan just won the national championship with a generational defense and went 40-3 over a three year period and are putting a ton of guys in the NFL. Lolz. But he got a higher four star may not be an upgrade
February 14th, 2024 at 4:13 PM ^
We are getting a young, NFL DB coach to come to college to take the same position. Awesome and very refreshing!
February 14th, 2024 at 6:39 PM ^
Will need at least one CB to replace Will Johnson after this season
February 14th, 2024 at 10:23 PM ^
Looking good.
