Agreed I would think the NFL…

Agreed I would think the NFL's more concerned about a lack of pass rush upside. And his one elite skill is he murdered zone reads, which is more valuable against college crappe than most NFL offenses.

Hopefully Holmes is banking…

Hopefully Holmes is banking on some compensatory picks cause giving up future 3rd and 4th rounders this late in the draft is irresponsible.

Shoutout to Seth for calling…

Shoutout to Brian for calling the Eboigbe pick in the Bama UFR.

He was a three star recruit…

He was a three star recruit who played OK in limited time, so I doubt the NIL demand for him is that high. More likely that Jyaire Hill is the starter coming out of spring and Waller doesn't want to compete.

Woah woah woah according to…

Woah woah woah according to Brian the people on this site who want a QB transfer are “slightly racist”?

One of the benefits of…

One of the benefits of winning a natty is you don’t have to set unrealistic expectations for a year where we’re returning 5 starters and play three top 5 years. Beat MSU and contend for the playoff and it’s a successful year in my book. It’s insane to suggest we have any shot at winning another Big 10 or natty, no matter who starts at QB.

Completely agree he'll be a…

Completely agree he'll be a solid Big 10 point guard. Reminds me of Mike Smith; could be a better distributor but very good shooter.

I've been in the Tuttle or…

I've been in the Tuttle or Jaydn Davis camp, but it's not fair to compare Orji's performance today to the other QBs. I doubt we can or will run the full spread option offense if Orji starts, but there was no point in repping any of that today when you didn't have to tackle the QB to get him down. Even without the option packages that Orji is best at, he showed enough for me to think there's a chance he's a viable starter.

No that's a play that a…

No that's a play that a Michigan corner makes.

I agree on Oregon cause OSU…

I agree on Oregon cause OSU-PSU will get the noon game that week. Fox will almost certainly want USC's first Big 10 game to be on Big Noon Kickoff, although a 9am local start time would be pretty unfair to them.

I think spring football hype…

Gonna take the face rating system with a big grain of salt if Hausmann and Bredeson are already supposed to be All-Americans or 1st rounders.

Don't have as strong a…

Don't have as strong a connection as Seth does to Avery Gach, but as a U of D Jesuit alum who's seen every other Catholic League school put guys at U of M and is tired of watching our best athletes play for State, I really want to land Dotson.

I don't understand why Jaydn…

I don't understand why Jaydn Davis is not being considered to start. Starting Orji would require a complete revamp to a spread option offense, which is not what Moore and Campbell like to run. It's clear Davis is the long-term answer and he's more college-ready than other high four-star QBs, since his strengths as a prospect are his processing and accuracy. None of the other QB options are gonna lead us to a 10 or 11 win season, so why not give Davis some experience and set us up better for 2025 and beyond?

It's a waste of everybody's…

It's a waste of everybody's time to speculate whether Michigan will snipe a former Buckeye from the portal. The answer is always no. And even if it was possible, our RB room is set.

2017 Michigan is a more…

2017 Michigan is a more realistic comp. Mediocre to bad offense that holds the team back but not an all-time tire fire.

You need both. Not every…

You need both. Not every game is Penn State.

Regarding Edwards, I just…

Regarding Edwards, I just hope the added 15 pounds doesn't zap his speed like it did with Corum. We need Edwards to be a major receiving threat given the state of the receiver room, but him breaking more tackles isn't as important since we have Mullings to be the main short yardage back.

MSU's 3 point % the last 3…

MSU's 3 point % the last 3 years: 51st, 3rd, and 19th. Their 3 point rate: 326th, 299th, and 274th. Izzo really doesn't want to prioritize shooters for some reason.

I said 23 and 24 classes…

I said 23 and 24 classes. And while I really like the new defensive hires, it will be hard to keep up the player development that turned unheralded guys like Jenkins and Sainristil into elite players.

All of Sherrone’s moves on…

All of Sherrone’s moves on the recruiting front have been fantastic. Hopefully they’re in time to make a difference for the 25 class. We really need some more elite talent, especially on defense, to make up for the 23 and 24 classes.

The stupidity is so great…

The stupidity is so great that it has to be malice against Michigan.

We’re stuck with the Big 10…

We’re stuck with the Big 10 in football, but I would love for us to ditch them in hockey and join the NCHC. The conference clearly hates us and tries to screw us at every possible opportunity.

Izzo almost certainly wouldn…

Izzo almost certainly wouldn't say this if Petitti didn't think this too. And even setting aside that mediocre major conference teams don't deserve to make the tournament over mid-majors, it's impossible to argue that upsets don't increase engagement with March Madness, unless, like Sankey and Petitti, you want to gobble up everything that's great about college sports to satisfy your own greed.

One gracious statement does…

One gracious statement does not override Juwan's completely classless behavior during his tenure and the smoldering crater of a program that he's left. With the caveat that I was not alive for his playing career here, I do not hold him in high regard.

1 and 2. Like everybody else…

1 and 2. Like everybody else, it's hard not to see UConn winning it all. I have Arizona, Duke, and Tennessee joining them in the Final 4.

3. I pick a 14-3 upset every year, and I have Morehead State over Illinois. They're top 10 in opponent FG% and 3P% and they have an elite scorer in Riley Minix. Also Purdue fans' misery grows as Utah State upsets them in the 2nd round.

New coach is gonna need to…

New coach is gonna need to bring in 4-5 transfers just to field a team.

Shouldn't we be rooting for…

Shouldn't we be rooting for Quinnipiac to win the ECAC tournament, since any other team winning would open up a third autobid?

The situation must have…

The situation must have really been miserable here if his rebound job is under Brad Underwood.

Couldn't agree more with…

Couldn't agree more with Seth's point that Warde is not the right AD for this era of college athletics. He's not a wartime consigliere.

JJ's a lot like Brock Purdy…

JJ's a lot like Brock Purdy in that people assume he's a game manager cause his team has a great run game. But nothing could be further from the truth, since both QBs push the ball downfield and make a good amount of athletic plays outside the pocket.

His claim that the ACC and…

His claim that the ACC and Big 12 proposed this asinine 14 team playoff plan which, as Brian pointed out, would permanently lock their teams out of a bye seemed to also be a way of deflecting blame away from Warde.

The issue isn't with a…

The issue isn't with a disgruntled QB wanting to come here, it's with that QB learning the offense after spring practice. They would have to be a real savant not to have growing pains, although all of our current options probably will as well.

These guys spend months now…

These guys spend months now preparing for these drills to juice their times. The 40 time matters much less than how you use that speed on the field. The previous record holder, John Ross, was a major bust in the NFL.

Giving up 82 points to a…

Giving up 82 points to a team that's still below 40% shooting for the season should be rock bottom. If we somehow bring back Juwan next year, I don't think it will be.

It’s only a preliminary…

It’s only a preliminary injunction but obviously the writing’s on the wall. The NCAA is a dying husk of an organization that’s being sued out of existence.

Knowles was a very good hire…

Knowles was a very good hire. He built an elite defense last year and unfortunately they'll be elite again in 2024. That's why it was such an achievement that we short circuited him (and Lathan Ransom) in 2022.

The team that really got…

The team that really got lucky with the schedule is Penn State, who doesn't have to play us or Oregon. At least OSU has to go to Eugene and Happy Valley.

The Roundtable’s discussion…

The Roundtable’s discussion of how we kept the team together may have been premature.

Maybe I'm reading too much…

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but the tweet says "a," not "the," defensive backs coach. Did anybody else read that to indicate we're looking to hire multiple DB coaches?

I obviously love Denard but…

I obviously love Denard but even if Orji could hit that level, which I highly doubt, we would be in trouble. Denard's performance, especially passing the ball, fell off a cliff whenever he faced a good defense.

Elite teams have for a…

Elite teams have for a decade now used NFL passing games instead of College Crappe option offenses led by Tebow-type QBs. College defenses are too smart now to be confused consistently by the option game and if you fall behind with a run-first QB (as every team will eventually) you're cooked. Denegal or Davis have to be the QB if we have any shot at a playoff-caliber offense.

Lucy’s definitely gonna keep…

Lucy’s definitely gonna keep holding the football this time.

Would’ve been nice to have…

Would’ve been nice to have functioning NIL so we could land some elite recruits. It’ll be a miracle if we can keep developing guys outside the top 200 with an entirely new staff.

That run game is gonna be…

That run game is gonna be absurdly good but Day might be cutting off his nose to spite his face by bringing in a more run-heavy QB and an OC who hasn't developed QBs well.

Getting pressure with 4 guys…

Getting pressure with 4 guys is much better than needing to blitz to get pressure. And while Wink's never coached an elite pass rusher, he had an elite DT in Dexter Lawrence with the Giants and still blitzed like crazy.

Absolute disaster of a hire…

Absolute disaster of a hire.

1. Probably won’t recruit and won’t bring in an LB coach who can recruit.

2. Less schematic continuity than just hiring another Ravens guy would suggest.

3. Runs Cover 1 and blitzes a lot (I wonder who that sounds like).

4. Steamrolled the last young, offense-minded head coach he worked with.

5. Even if he’s good, he’ll be back in the NFL in a year or two.

If Jim couldn’t tell Don…

If Jim couldn’t tell Don Brown anything by the end, as they mentioned on the Roundtable, why wouldn’t the same thing happen here with a first-time head coach and a DC who just threw Daboll under the bus? I don’t know if Leonhard was ever considered, but if we’re gonna hire a questionable locker room guy, I’d much rather it have been him.

“They do it by blitzing more…

“They do it by blitzing more than anybody in the league”

That does not sound like McDonald and Minter’s scheme. The idea that this would be a continuity hire is ridiculous.

Why has there been no…

Why has there been no chatter about hiring an up and coming college DC?

Cause the last Dr. Blitz…

Cause the last Dr. Blitz worked out so well.
