Elite Detroit DB, Alex Graham trending to Colorado
Sigh. Thought he was a huge priority for us to close with... Recruiting is not great right now, which is extremely frustrating.

And when Deion abandons ship after this year maybe they'll get another bite at the apple. Or they'll get the fast dude out of Columbus (Galloway?) and someone else and everyone forgets about Graham.
Wonder where you think he'll go. His schtick won't work in the NFL.
His schtick doesn't work in college
They were improved significantly.
They went from 1 win to 4 wins, and those 4 wins were:
- A legit upset of a TCU team that was rebuilding.
- An epic choke job by Nebraska whose QB could not stop turning the ball over.
- A lucky win in OT against a shit tier CSU team.
- A lucky win that ASU gift wrapped for them.

You can't make that list calling things "lucky" without then saying that USC was "lucky" to win in Boulder. Not that USC was great, mind you, but Colorado should have won that game.
Last year will be their worst year under Deion. You can come back and gloat over all these "intellectuals" after the next two seasons. It's funny how people can discount Sanders after guys like this start going to Colorado. And there are more. Stand By.

Yep, this. He absolutely wasn't wrong about his "take your shots now" and time will show that to be true. The multitudes in here laughing and saying what he does is a gimmick and that what he's doing doesn't work quite frankly don't know what they are talking about. When it does work there is going to be a lot of crow to eat. And it'll be fun to watch!
Listening to the Cover 3 Podcast and Bud Elliott sounds pretty convinced that the way he's building his team is for the short term. Once his kid and Travis Hunter are gone that team is heading for a cliff with all the transfers and very little recruiting. He isn't even visiting high schools he's making everyone come to him.
Might be trying to maneuver into a father/son NFL coaching deal. You really think his shtick wouldn't work with the Cowboys? Replace Dax with his son and let the circus blow into town.

You're describing Deion's wet dream. Shedeur is nowhere near good enough for any NFL team to give Deion a job.
April 16th, 2024 at 12:15 AM ^
Cover 3 Podcast covered this as well. Terrible year for QB prospects = maybe Shadeur being a 1st round pick. Sounds crazy but man this year's QB class is rough unless some guys break out (and the usually do but still).

Yeah he could be a first rounder, I agree with that. But that doesn't equate to him being good enough to get his dad an NFL job.

What that is, right there, is an antiquated way of building a team. Sanders has been very clear about what his approach is, and it's just different. It definitely makes sense why folks who believe in the traditional approach would call it "short term" but they are missing what is actually happening (and where recruiting is going).
He's 100% gone if they make a bowl game this year, and to be honest they have a really favorable schedule this year. I could see some desperate team with big donors wanting him, especially if they struggle this year. I imagine Florida moves on from Napier after this year and could see them going after him.
If he ends up picking CU over us that's all you need to know about what he currently values. It's not as if Graham is trending to another established program that will make the CFP.
A DB playing for Deion isn't the craziest thing. It could just be for money as well, but that's one position group that makes some sense.
100% true on both counts. Or maybe the kid just wants to get away from home. Big money, somewhere new, and/or the allure of Sanders are all valid reasons, but reasons that show Graham isn't yet in the mindset of who we seem to be looking for.
Come on, what kid hasn't at one time or another thought about leaving home and joining the circus?
Especially if the pay is good.

Colorado doesn’t have a crazy NIL budget. Deion is old school like Jim was. Players that achieved at the highest level are kind of against paying players crazy money just to come. I think they feel that they had to earn it so players coming up today should do the same.
April 16th, 2024 at 11:01 AM ^
Yeah, I think that lots of kids are being shown Shedeur's NIL earnings, without thinking about the fact that he is the QB and he is Deion's kid. Most kids at CU will never see NIL anything like that.

In more ways than one. In particular, the cacophony saying that Harbaugh was a gimmick and that it wouldn't resonate with today's players. How did that work out?
remember the good olde days when you won the national championship and got a recruiting bump.... good times
I was thinking the same thing. We win a championship right when recruiting becomes all about NIL. Of course, it may have been that way for a while now, but it’s only recently become legal.
I mean typically in those cases your head coach doesn’t leave for the NFL and take the entire defensive staff with him
That’s what happens when the entire defensive staff leaves.
Michigan may have lost their entire defensive staff, but IMO it's still a more attractive destination than the team that had the 3rd worse defense in the P5 last year.
Turnover is constant in the college game, especially when teams are winning. That can't explain away our recruiting struggles the past few years.
Over/ Under on commits this weekend is 2… I got the over.
How about ...more commitments in the weeks before/after the spring game -- Football or Basketball?
At least we have an elite QB committed. Carter Smith is ranked higher than Graham so I assume that means Smith is an elite QB, right?
Almost completely new coaching staff after a drawn out hiring of JH away from Michigan- what do you expect?
Sorry not buying that. So many schools get a recruiting bump when a new coach comes in, we just rationalize away why we miss out on so many local recruits. Sad, just fucking sad.

Neither am I. And I'm not sure why OP is being negged. He/She spoke the truth.
Recruiting hasn't been great and it is quite frustrating. Not a single commit since the national championship. Disheartening.
Maybe wait until the '25 class is in the books?
Maizen spoke the truth sometimes, too, back in the day. (Get it?)
Graham (https://247sports.com/player/alex-graham-46129900/) has an appealing profile, but the OP sounds like a concern troll.
It would be easy to fill the message board with posts about recruits that aren't "trending" to Michigan (and the OP thinks Michigan has to get). My favorites are the ones where UM is way down the favorites lists but still manages to get a hat on the table. Don't worry -- someone here will publicly gnash their teeth.
April 16th, 2024 at 10:52 AM ^
Okay, lets wait then. You should not post about the 2025 recruiting cycle until Feb 2025. Because that's what this blog is for. Reporting news after the fact only with no discussion or commentary.
There is certainly concern, IMO. I think the reasons are mixed in with a bunch of "you're stupid because there's no reason to worry ever about anything"...
that's literally what the blog/board is for... to see things/hear things that did or MIGHT happen, and then have a conversation about it. But, because its the internet, everyone has to give an opinion on people posting, not the topic itself.

Michigan didnt have a new coach "come in", and Sherrone Moore cant bring recruits who were committed to his previous school.
Its not the same as elevating a first time head coach from within.
It’s been 100 days since all of that. Not one recruit. NOT ONE!! Off a National Championship… Just stop it with that.
April 15th, 2024 at 10:05 PM ^
I know the defensive staff has had like 3 months to build relationships with these kids as Michigan coaches. That should be plenty of time...

I wonder if that has anything to do with the coach who won the NC leaving 🤔
Bama’s coach left and they have 10 commits. We have 2 more DWI’s than we have commits.
Bama's coach left, and their roster got completely raided.
FIFY
Aww, aren’t you cute? Coping mechanisms are crutches.
Looooooong way till signing day in December. Commitments in April don't mean a damn thing these days.
Exactly. Where this kid is currently at is where he's currently at. He could easily decide that staying close to home at a strong program, getting developed for the NFL vs much better talent, at a better school (who knows he might come to actually care about that), and with more TV exposure is what is more important.
Not really worried. Colorado is a fucking dumpster fire. A lot is going to happen in the next year.
If 2023 proved anything, it's that we need the right guys, not necessarily the top guys. Hopefully Moore kept the secret sauce for identifying the right guys.
We're going to put that theory to the test in a hurry.
Which one of the commits in the last 100 days do you think will impress the most? Id like to see someone's top 5.
