Are we sure this time, orrr....
February 16th, 2024 at 9:35 AM ^
He'll decide after he has time to introduce himself to the players and meet their parents.
ITS A JOKE. TAKE A BREATH.
(its only kind of a joke)
February 16th, 2024 at 2:34 PM ^
He'll coach for two seasons and then inform us he was never really here.
February 16th, 2024 at 9:50 AM ^
Looks like it's a reputable reporter this time and not one of our "insiders" so I think we're safe.
February 16th, 2024 at 9:57 AM ^
The insiders at Michigan truly need to step it up, and stop getting defensive at their whiffs.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:39 AM ^
So who do we talk to about removing the unofficial title of “insider” to some of these guy’s roles?
I get that their initial reports may be correct and that reporting on potential rumors is part of the job but I can’t think of too many other professions where people are allowed less credibility and keep their jobs.
I can’t imagine coming into work on a Monday morning and saying to my boss “Sorry my report that was sent out to hundreds of thousands of people was completely false and unfounded” and my boss replying with “No problem. Keep up the good work”.
February 16th, 2024 at 7:32 PM ^
Meet your new boss, James Yoder.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:45 AM ^
Adegoke accepted the job before reneging. I don't know why people are acting like Sam and Henschke missed on that one
February 16th, 2024 at 11:05 AM ^
Don't you bring reasoning to this slant on insiders
February 16th, 2024 at 1:32 PM ^
Because they were wrong about 7,452,098 things during Sign-Gate and Harbaugh Contract-Gate, so they don't really get any leeway anymore.
Once your credibility is completely tanked, people aren't going to believe you.
February 16th, 2024 at 4:43 PM ^
Someone must be blamed for my feelings of disappointment!
February 16th, 2024 at 11:59 AM ^
Maybe you could just take some literacy and reality lessons and stop being Toby? Webb's reporting on many of the moves has been accurate for when those guys agreed.
You guys are crying because he's reporting agreements in place that are verified by the coaches and players, but then these coaches backed out.
It's like crying at the newspaper for making an engagement announcement paid for by the to-be groom when the to-be groom then decides post-publication that he doesn't want to get married to the bride/other groom.
How horrible are you people that you have to continuously tear down insiders because of your desire to be placated with instant gratification. If they'd waited until the contract was signed and the press conference, you'd be the same people saying they didn't know anything and they waited so long to report that they are fools.
Nobody can win with miserable people like you.
February 16th, 2024 at 12:02 PM ^
Oooh yeah take your anger out on my flair name.
February 16th, 2024 at 2:40 PM ^
I think there's some bad luck involved. Unless everyone is lying, Adegoke accepted the job and backed out, Clinkscale announced his return and then backed out, and Herbert was leaning towards staying and changed his mind.
It's hard to be right when the people involved don't even know that they're eventually going to do.
To Sam's credit, his initial stance was that Minter and Jay were definitely gone, and it'd take something game-changing from Michigan to keep Herbert, Elston, and Clink. His assumptions were right, but it was a circuitous route to get there.
February 16th, 2024 at 9:58 AM ^
Zenitz also reported the Adegoke news. In that case, Adegoke had yet to inform his coach however. In this case, Morgan has told the team at Louisiana he is leaving. And I am much more confident in our ability to win a bidding war with Louisiana than with the Houston Texans.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:14 AM ^
It doesn't sound like the Adegoke news was wrong at the time it was reported. He had accepted an offer, but the Texans reeled him back in with some counter offer. I don't love someone reneging on an offer they'd accepted, but the insider reporting was substantially correct. Just premature.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:33 AM ^
One way to talk about all this that might prevent heartache is to distinguish between spoken commitments and contract signings. If the news-bearer can't tell that the contract HAS been signed, then you know that the deal's not finalized. This is of course obvious, but necessary to remember. At least, assuming that we don't in fact enjoy groaning and complaining, which is forgivable (I guess), too.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:43 AM ^
I don't doubt that is the case, but the rush to be "first" has eroded reporting, not just in these cases. Nothing is certain until the contract is signed.
February 16th, 2024 at 11:03 AM ^
I don't love someone reneging on an offer they'd accepted, but the insider reporting was substantially correct.
Honestly, if someone reneges on an offer they'd accepted it's not someone I want anyway.
February 16th, 2024 at 12:58 PM ^
How's the view from your high horse?
If I was offered another job with a raise and chance at moving up my career path and accepted it in a verbal agreement and then my previous employer suddenly freaked out and made an even better offer that enabled me to better take care of my family and pursue my dreams, does that make me some kind of person who would be a poor influence/morally problematic/or otherwise be someone you wouldn't "want" anyway?
February 16th, 2024 at 1:25 PM ^
I understand your point of view.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:34 AM ^
What did the insiders get wrong? They reported he had accepted an offer to come here, which was correct. Then, they reported that he was getting a counter offer, which was correct. Then, they reported that he had accepted that offer and wouldn't be coming here. It's not so much that insiders are wrong (some definitely are) as much as situations are fluid and people are expecting insiders to read minds and predict the future.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:54 AM ^
Right? Same with Clink
Clink TELLS THE PLAYERS he’s coming back. Sam reports it
Clink changes his mind. “Omg Sam’s such a fraud”. Give me a break
We’re just so caught up in the minutiae and getting frustrated
February 16th, 2024 at 11:02 AM ^
How about when reporting just say they have accepted the job but have not signed a contract yet so there is still negotiating going on. One of my bigger issues with "insiders" is I'm tired of their vagueness.
If you can't say who you are getting information that in itself is hear say, then fuck off. This is mostly from Hole, that dude has more sources that don't amount to shit than anyone I've ever seen.
February 16th, 2024 at 3:32 PM ^
Wow, you really don’t know how having sources work do ya? If you reveal who your sources are, you will no longer have sources. They’re getting info that they shouldn’t be getting.
February 16th, 2024 at 9:35 AM ^
What's the over/under that this guy actually makes it to campus?
February 16th, 2024 at 10:08 AM ^
I mean, the over/under on a binary event is always going to be 0. If you mean the likelihood or percentage chance... pretty sure we don't feel 100% good about it
February 16th, 2024 at 10:15 AM ^
Wouldnt the O/U be 0.5? Sorry, couldnt help myself.
February 16th, 2024 at 11:57 AM ^
Correct. Or point anything really. I included only zero for the over, though with all the people leaving the ship, makes you feel like negative gains is somehow possible. Says eeyore
February 16th, 2024 at 10:17 AM ^
I mean we're all still waiting on UMich press releases on a number of these hires. We can't feel "100%" good until there's contracts to FOIA.
But as others have stated, we're not pulling Morgan out of the NFL, so they can't counter with "no recruiting" (like the Texans probably did, along with a fat pile of money). And Louisiana can't hope to beat us in a bidding war (unlike Tennessee with BJM).
February 16th, 2024 at 11:28 AM ^
Fine, get all mathy on me...LOL
February 16th, 2024 at 9:36 AM ^
Oh wow! I posted exactly one second late, but my thread survives!
Your mercy is immeasurable, Mods.
February 16th, 2024 at 9:39 AM ^
I thought this was the rule around here... Wtf!! 😜
February 16th, 2024 at 10:01 AM ^
With the exception being that clearly inferior posts shall be deleted in favor of the post that actually contains a link and information.
(Disclaimer: In this particular instance, I didn't see the post that was deleted)
February 16th, 2024 at 9:37 AM ^
60% of the time these announcements are correct 100% of the time… That said if true…excellent get
February 16th, 2024 at 9:38 AM ^
I think we're safe. He can't go to the Chargers and Louisiana isn't in the AFC South as far as I know.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:19 AM ^
Unlike Colt45, which works every time, every time.
February 16th, 2024 at 9:37 AM ^
Get him on the phone with Keon Sabb ASAP.
February 16th, 2024 at 9:40 AM ^
No. Get him to where ever Keon Sabb currently is, with a bag in hand and a plan to have him on the field. Sabb is going to be great next year. Not good, great. That is a huge loss if he goes.
February 16th, 2024 at 9:44 AM ^
If I had the skills to create a gif of eyelids opening to LaMar Morgan with a bag of cash in hand, that is what I would post.
February 16th, 2024 at 9:53 AM ^
Sabb apparently doesn't want to play in a rotating D from what was communicated by Sam Webb this morning on his radio show. There could be a lot of other reasons besides that as to why he is leaving but that seemed to be the key issue.
February 16th, 2024 at 9:57 AM ^
Well then he is going to play at the University of Nowhere. Every team basically has six defensive backs that play.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:04 AM ^
Dude, even with rotations, starting safeties get more snaps. It makes sense for Keon to find a school to get first team snaps. He wants to declare after 2024 and has the toolkit to be a day 1 or 2 pick.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:07 AM ^
I don't think it is certain he would not be a starting safety for Michigan next year. He played almost the entire NCG. You think he is going to Bama or Oregon and not having to compete for a starting job?
I personally think this was more about not having a position coach, which is now remedied. Hopefully Michigan can reel him back in.
February 16th, 2024 at 12:35 PM ^
I could see him going to Alabama to take over Caleb Downs' position. Plus they are losing their top two cornerbacks as well.
February 16th, 2024 at 10:08 AM ^
No, it's completely selfish of him, he should do what we want him to do
<george michael sad walk away gif>
February 16th, 2024 at 9:37 AM ^
I'll believe it in September if he's on the sideline
February 16th, 2024 at 9:41 AM ^
Great, someone get him Keon Sabb's phone number
February 16th, 2024 at 9:54 AM ^
(281)-330-8004... Hit Keon Sabb up on the low
