Just hoping for a close game/not get blown out.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:38 AM ^
MSU hasn’t exactly been lighting it up either. They’re probably about as good as Illinois or OSU
February 6th, 2020 at 11:49 AM ^
The difference is their strengths are our weaknesses
Other teams have been able to abuse Tillman but he's made his career against us. Also still waiting for the 6-22 from Winston that other teams get but we don't
February 6th, 2020 at 12:01 PM ^
As long as Cassius doesn't go off again, it should be close
February 6th, 2020 at 12:20 PM ^
Aren't we 0-3 against Illinois/OSU this year?
February 6th, 2020 at 3:34 PM ^
Maybe, but they will play like the 85 Lakers against us.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:06 AM ^
Someone please say we have a shot at Greg Brown.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:17 AM ^
Contrary to popular belief around here, Yaklich did not save Texas. They’re one of the teams M is competing against. Memphis is the other since Juwans ex-teammate and friend Mike Miller is one hell of a recruiter.
February 6th, 2020 at 2:21 PM ^
Indications are that Michigan has a real shot at Greg Brown-they really do. A starting 5 of Todd, Brown, Christopher, Wagner and Livers would/could comprise quite the position-less college basketball team-one that I would be very interested in watching.
February 6th, 2020 at 3:58 PM ^
No point guard and a 195 pound "center" sounds precarious.
February 6th, 2020 at 9:35 PM ^
Nothing precarious about it...instruct me how you are going to defend this group. The NBA does not employ a "PG" anymore and it makes for some pretty efficient play. You put the ball in your best players hands and let them trigger the offense-make plays and make space for their teammates. This group would be stunningly difficult to defend for even elite, physically-gifted college teams-every player demanding full attention.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:07 AM ^
I would definitely agree with your use of the word "giant". That's quite an array of talent. Maybe Juwan can suit up a couple of them for the game - especially Brown and Hardy.
February 6th, 2020 at 1:36 PM ^
omg what if there was a rule that you can play in a game while on your official visit. SOMEONE GET THE NCAA ON THE LINE ASAP.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:09 AM ^
I feel like I have unfortunately reached the stage where I am going to DVR games and watch them later if we won. Lot of dong punches lately. Kind of tired of dong punches.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:19 AM ^
I replied to Hotel Putin in another thread and it reminded me of how many "dong punches" we endured under Rich Rod.
Here is a video created by MGOBLOG at the time. It's worth a look.

Great link - I forgot how fun it was to watch Minor run with such rage. Rare quality and he brought it consistently

6.7.0February 6th, 2020 at 1:06 PM ^
You're up to 6.7.0
You're evolving...
February 6th, 2020 at 1:36 PM ^
"No, you clearly don't know who you're talking to, so let me clue you in. I am not in danger, ijohnb. I am the danger. A guy opens his door and gets dong-punched and you think that of me? No. I am the one who knocks!" ~Coach Howard's burner acct
February 6th, 2020 at 11:14 AM ^
More missed 3s and layups.
Waiting till Livers is healthy to get this team on track. Question is: Can he stay healthy?
February 6th, 2020 at 4:00 PM ^
I think his next dunk attempt shelves him for the season.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:16 AM ^
I don’t know if watching Michigan miss shot after shot is a good thing or not with these guys.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:20 AM ^
It’s good bc unlike our fan base they can tell that Juwan’s offense will put them in a position to succeed/shine if they are consistent in hitting wide open shots.
February 6th, 2020 at 12:11 PM ^
What offense? its the same miserable plays one after another after another..I am NOT impressed with Juwan Howard as a coach one bit
February 6th, 2020 at 1:30 PM ^
Why don’t you just leave then? Change the channel. Go Green? You are clueless. The very last play he drew up in the huddle was perfect for a young man who likes wide open three attempts,”for the tie!”
February 6th, 2020 at 3:06 PM ^
If this is actually what you think, you have a lot to learn about basketball. How many absurdly open shots do we have to miss?
I would say Juwan's tactical issues are notably lesser than the average first-year head coach. To my mind, the only valid question about the new regime is found in Jon Teske's severe regression on both sides of the ball this year. I don't have an explanation for it, but it seems odd that Davis and Johns would improve so significantly while Teske languishes, which makes me question whether it has anything to do with Juwan in the first place, and maybe more to do with Teske.
Otherwise the significant talent upgrade from those already committed to our 2020 class, whether we retain Todd or not, is more emblematic of the culture we're going to see. Let the guy work with some of his own players before maligning him. Zeb, Todd, Dickinson, and Williams can all can it from deep.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:20 AM ^
I think all they see is playing time.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:21 AM ^
Why? They are mostly open shots. Wouldn't you want to play in a system that consistently got you open looks? Players are looking at the system not at the guys playing in that system who were recruited by the previous coach. Not to mention the that the missed shots signal early playing time.
February 6th, 2020 at 2:33 PM ^
Our current players aren't Juwans recruits. It will have no effect.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:20 AM ^
Hope they can keep it close and just make it an entertaining game for the ‘croots. I’d love to win, sure, but seeing as how Winston is probably going to go off for 35 points, 12 assists and 7 rebounds, I’m not getting my hopes up.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:27 AM ^
Colin Smith is a 2022 kid, not 2020.
February 6th, 2020 at 11:59 AM ^
Good catch.
February 6th, 2020 at 12:00 PM ^
Can we get some drunk rowdy students in the arena instead of the usual crowd? I'm tired of us having such a shitty student section, this is a huge weekend
February 6th, 2020 at 12:03 PM ^
It’ll be pretty easy to sell early playing time at least.
February 6th, 2020 at 12:09 PM ^
Great..so they get to see MSU Stomp us and this anemic offense
February 6th, 2020 at 12:22 PM ^
Michigan's play on the court will not persuade recruits. They are smart enough to recognize the lack of talent on the current roster and the possibility of playing immediately.
It's year one for Howard so he gets more leeway.
This isn't like Harbaugh and football.
February 6th, 2020 at 1:33 PM ^
You have to be a certain popular usernames Doppelgänger because you are successful at being negative. Why don’t you get a “tat.” First word negative on your left side, Nancy on your right.
February 6th, 2020 at 12:28 PM ^
What's different about Harbaugh and Howard in there first year? If Howard doesn't make the tourney, the negative recruiting will start immediately next year. He needs to take advantage now, or things could go south in recruiting.
February 6th, 2020 at 12:33 PM ^
JB couldn't lead this team to a tourney if he was still around.
I think Jim Harbaugh exceeded all expectations in year one. From where Hoke finished off his tenure, you wouldn't have thought 10 wins in year one for Harbaugh. However, after four years, the glow of Harbaugh has clearly worn off.
Howard on the other hand still has this glow around him still. That will not go away, even if this team doesn't make the tourney.
Let's talk after year 2.
February 6th, 2020 at 2:52 PM ^
Two things..
First, these are JBs players and he surely would have led them to the tourney.
Second, Harbaugh is par for the course.... He has done very well. Look over to EL where Dantonio just quit. He crushed the rise of their program. Forget OSU for the moment because that's something that the got hosed on with the hometown ref crap in the Horeshoe. Harbaugh took care of the state first, and crushed the instate rival.
February 6th, 2020 at 12:44 PM ^
Also worth mentioning that UCLA, one of our two main competitors for 5* SG Josh Christopher, just signed Jaylen Clark, the #21 Shooting Guard in the country. That seems to bode well for us as they play the same position. Seems like the biggest competition is still ASU and the family factor, but potentially good omens for the good guys.
February 6th, 2020 at 12:46 PM ^
Win The Game
February 6th, 2020 at 12:48 PM ^
Will they play?
February 6th, 2020 at 1:23 PM ^
I wonder if we've ever had three 5 star basketball recruits at a game before. This is loaded (and there are more 5 stars we are in on, of course).
February 6th, 2020 at 1:35 PM ^
Thanks Cube!
